Nice work, I wish you could be my farrier in the USA. Farrier’s here, won’t do drafts/cobs/gypsies unless the feather is all out of the way by us, the owners. I barely get the center sulcus trimmed away and definitely don’t get a polish. I would like the ergot trimmed, do you include that service in the trim appt.?
G’day Pete and greetings from Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺 you have a terrific channel It’s lovely how you always introduce the horse and you explain what you are about to do to the hoof. You have a terrific interaction with these beautiful horses, I’m in my late sixties and have never seen what a fairer does I have subscribed and it’s pleasure watching you Peter take care kind regards John
What a gentle boy. Such rich feathers. You do a fantastic job Peter as always. Hope you had a great Easter with your family. Enjoyed watching your video. Wush you all the best.😀
HI Peter, thank you for showing us how you sharpen your hoof knife. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I learn from each of your videos. Filming, lighting and audio is perfect. The horses are always comfortable with you showing the care you take in your work.
The horse had a pretty good-looking foot despite having been too long for a while. It seems that some horses get distortions quicker than others. Great job giving that horse better feet, they looked really nice when you were finished!
Peter, i hope you had a great Easter!! You really brpught those heels back and his feet gathered together and under him properly again. Great job, Peter!!! Your friend, the Retired Paramedic and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn 💖 🇨🇦
@@Peterthefarrier 7 weeks??. He grows hoof fast in Spring and Summer then. Wow!! Great trim! I loved when you picked up the piece you had nipped off and showed us. I knew be was forward on his heels, just by looking at the solar plane of his hoof, but I didn't realize that was only 7 weeks of growth!! Have a great weekend, Peter. My 3 come in this weekend for their summer training. The 2 stud colts I had last year, and a Newmar. She has to be started from the ground up, while I'll just do a quick refresher with the boys and be back in the saddle by mid April with them. They start cavelletti and small jumps and tons of gridwork this year. Might even have them out to a few local shows with the owners. But nothing over 60 cm. by then. Jenn 💖
Brilliant job as usual Peter. You always go the extra mile and I am so pleased that you are gaining more subscribers. The knife sharpening section was a bonus. Simon, I am sure, was well pleased with his pedicure. He was a very good boy. 😊
Removed said object 😂😂😂 that tickled me 😂 great positioning of the rasp haha. Wow that’s alot of cuttings 😊amazing video as always have a great weekend 🎉
I love this man, his gentle relationship with the horses is lovely. I never realised exactly how much work and skill is required to treat the feet of horses. My admiration has no bounds. XX
Immaculate work! When I compare your work to the U.S. farriers they just look like complete bodge artists. What a wonderful tidy waste pile! Congratulations on your mastery.
What a lovely young lad❤. He seemed so good for you. I saw someone suggest a hair scrunchy for the feathers, I saw a farrier use a type of plastic wrap that kept the hair out of the way for trimming or shoeing. You do Beautiful work!
Peter, I was wondering if by trimming the frog, cause’s the foot from loosing more cushion? As always I look forward to your next video, Happy Saturday here in the 🇺🇸, here in Baltimore Maryland, were we are slowly recovering the downed Francis Scott Key Bridge. Praying for the families, and recovery of their loved ones. Quite a feat for certain. Sending love, and please keep us in your prayers. ❤🇺🇸🙂↕️
Very deceiving at first glance. Hooves look good but when you show us the heels then you realize how much needs taken off.Another great video Peter. Have a great weekend !!
Watching these makes me wonder how sharp their tools are, and how often they have to sharpen them. They glide sometimes through the thickest of hooves.
How often do you sharpen those knives? How long does a knife last? It would be interesting to see the knife you sharpened in today's video next to a new knife.
On the hoof, after nipping the outer layer of hoof, colour was showing in from about 7 o'clock through to about 8 o'clock, and it appeared pink. Was that natural colouration within the keratin, or was it the sign of blood supply / nail bed extending down? Essentially, what was it? Thank you from Not-a-horse-guy (but for some reason I really like farrier videos).
Peter. My farrier never trims the frog. I was wondering how you know how much to trim off on the frog? Is it necessary? Are horses are 100% barefoot no shoes. Thanks
Gorgeous Video Peter! Is there any point where you'd have to take hoof off in two sittings? Would large removals potentially cause bruising etc if its too much of a sudden change if a lot needs to come off?
I wish I could have seen the hoof's outer walls with feathers taped up, before and after the trim. His feet looked remarkably healthy for being so overgrown. Looked like 3-4 months worth.
I love that you introduce the horses.
Well you need to see him before I trim him 😊.
I was going to say the same thing.
When I do a horse with that much hair I used my daughter's scrunchie to keep the hair out of the way. Works great. Like your videos.
Does your daughter know? Hope you don’t give them back. Just teasing.
I use bandages to keep all the feather out of the way. Makes the do much easier with no hair getting in the way
I love the big, wide frogs on draft types.
I've seen other farriers use plastic wrap to hold back the hair.
Peter, I was a bit shocked 😮 at how much needed to come off. It truly was deceiving. Then the collection of discards 😆 Great job‼️
Thank you😊.They really are deceiving feet. To look at them you wouldn’t think there was that much hoof on.
I can imagine the party at the barn, when the resident puppers found all those tasty trimmings!
“Tonight, we eat like kings!!” -the first dog to all the other dogs when they discovered the trimmings

Thank you John 😊. I really appreciate the support and glad you enjoyed the video. Have a great day.
Peter, I must confess, horses terrify me. That being said, I am totally fascinated watching you trim their hooves.❤
Love this video. You always put the comfort of the horse first. ❤❤❤ Simon is a handsome boy. Thank you 😊
Thank you, Peter You got yourself a youngster today in six year old Simon
What a gentle boy. Such rich feathers. You do a fantastic job Peter as always. Hope you had a great Easter with your family. Enjoyed watching your video. Wush you all the best.😀
HI Peter, thank you for showing us how you sharpen your hoof knife. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I learn from each of your videos. Filming, lighting and audio is perfect. The horses are always comfortable with you showing the care you take in your work.
Are both sides of the knife sharpened or only one side? Great video. Thank you
The horse had a pretty good-looking foot despite having been too long for a while. It seems that some horses get distortions quicker than others.
Great job giving that horse better feet, they looked really nice when you were finished!
Very nice job Peter on that hoof. It looked beautiful at the end and much more comfortable for the Simon. Well done!! ❤❤❤❤
Great video, love watching you work.🐴👍🏼
Thank you 😊

Thank you 😊. Can you believe that was 7 weeks of growth 😂.

What a lovely Cob. He is definitely more comfortable now.

That was a lot, have a nice weekend.
It definitely was a lot of hoof. I am with the family this weekend so I am looking forward to it 😊. Hope you have a great weekend as well.
I'm sure Simon feels much better. That's a lot of work! Well done
He is ready for the weekend now with his new hooves. Thank you 😊
Lovely job Peter
Thank you 😊
Congratulations on your excellent work
Thank you 😊
Removed said object 😂😂😂 that tickled me 😂 great positioning of the rasp haha. Wow that’s alot of cuttings 😊amazing video as always have a great weekend 🎉
Thank you 😊. He was enjoying his trim 😂
That’s one way to put it 😂😂
😂😂😂🤣 omgoodness I nearly fell off my chair!
So well done. Thank you for sharing.🐴
What a beautiful job! He must have been comfortable with you to reveal himself!!😂😂😂
Ha ha funny that you had to block him being 'happy and relaxed'😂
Thanks for clarifying what he was referring to! It went right over my head and I had to replay the video!
What an INCREDIBLY WELL behaved horse. Or just really easy going.
You didn't have to pick his hoof up once. Crazy. Nice looking work, too.
I love this man, his gentle relationship with the horses is lovely. I never realised exactly how much work and skill is required to treat the feet of horses. My admiration has no bounds. XX
Great video Peter
Thank you 😊
Thanks God that you are existing to take care of the feet of the horses, they need a good trim regularly to keep walking. Thank you.
Beautiful job, as always. He's quite a beautiful horse.
Thank you 😊. He definitely is a nice looking cob.
I love the Cobbs! He is just gorgeous.
I enjoy your videos immensely. The knife sharpening portion was fascinating.
Great video! Thank you for showing the precious horse at the end as well as the shot of the trimmed off hoofs. Love it!
YT does seem to have an issue with actual reality at times. Ah well, glad the little guy was so comfy while you were working.
I love your compassionate way of caring for the horses, you are so kind to accommodate their preferences. ❤
Can you see the difference in the horse afterwards? Like, they would say thats so much, better, thanks, mate 👍 😊
Well Simon deffo needed his hooves trimming Peter and he stood well bless him , great vid and hope the family are all ok ..
Thanks for the part showing the sharpening of the knife. In fact, thanks for the video.
Always enjoy your videos and the commentary as you work. 😊
I like your work, especially with the feathers.
Thank you 😊
Peter you are an excellent farrier! If I had my horse again and lived over there you would be my horses.😊
Immaculate work! When I compare your work to the U.S. farriers they just look like complete bodge artists. What a wonderful tidy waste pile! Congratulations on your mastery.
I really like how you are talking everyone through while you're doing the cutting. So smart to use the knee for the comfort of the horse.
Just great to see you Peter..You give a lift to the soul..
Amazing how patient the horse is.
Peter, great job, as always! Simon's coloring is beautiful!
You did a very nice job… the horse looks happy… you look happy and a bit tired…. Hope your back is doing well… have a grand day!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Very good job - new to your channel but enjoying your videos!
Beautiful horse and trim! And that job is the epitome of back breaking work!
The horse was so well behaved. You knew just what he needed.
you were right. At first glance I would not have thought that so much needed to come off. Pretty pony, great work
What a lovely young lad❤. He seemed so good for you. I saw someone suggest a hair scrunchy for the feathers, I saw a farrier use a type of plastic wrap that kept the hair out of the way for trimming or shoeing. You do Beautiful work!
Simon is so patient and calm. I like to explanation as you work.
Looks like a lot of healthy hooves that needed a bit of a tidy up. Nice job!
Great video Peter, I was wondering how long was it since his last hood trimming?
Thank you 😊. He had gone 7 weeks. He just grows massive amounts of hoof.
Great 👍
Thank you 😊
Great job Peter. Very enjoyable and informative video 👍👍👍
Beautifully done. Excellent.
Nice job!
You can also use a pair of women's tights to hold the feather, cut off the foot and drag over the hoof!
1,41 ??? Is it Halloween over there ??? Can hear all the Witches Plotting in the Background
That’s going to make a tasty treat for a lucky pup!
Love this channel
Wow! I imagine the horse feels better after your trimming.
Beautiful horse and great trim ❤❤
Lovely video I find them very relaxing to watch
Beautiful job for a beautiful horse ❤❤❤
Beautiful work
You do outstanding work!
, très beau travail ! Merci. Josse. De la France
You always do such a tidy job 😊
Another nice Kobe Peter!!
Farriers must have insane forearm muscles. That all looks so difficult. My back hurts just watching.
Love your videos.
Well done ...thanks!🇨🇦✌️👍
"Hung like a rasp" doesn't have the same ring to it...😅
May be give hair above the hoof a cut...makes the hoof trim easier.
I enjoyed watching!
Good job.
Reminds me of working on my grandmother's toe nails long ago.
Peter, I was wondering if by trimming the frog, cause’s the foot from loosing more cushion?

Very deceiving at first glance. Hooves look good but when you show us the heels then you realize how much needs taken off.Another great video Peter. Have a great weekend !!
Amazing! How do you know when to stop cutting the sole?? looks like all white white white and I can't see a difference!
I was wondering about that discolored part of that hoof when you nipped off that chunk
Great job! I have three questions 1. Do horses like getting this done?
2. Is this expensive to get done? 3. How often should you get this done ? 😀
Amazing!
Watching these makes me wonder how sharp their tools are, and how often they have to sharpen them. They glide sometimes through the thickest of hooves.
Great job 👏🏾
Hi Peter, could you tell me what you use as a guide to determine how far down you take the sole and the hoof?
Why can't you use cellophane to wrap the hair while you trim? Love the video.
He can use plastic wrap (Saran wrap) to hold the feathers back. It would make it much easier for him.
Peter, why don't you wrap the feathering before you trim so it's out of your way? Pretty horse and always interesting to watch you work.
What do you brush onto the tops of the hooves? Is it oil of some kind?
What a great job! What the hell have I been doing all my life ? 🤷🏼♂️
Are youbusing a sanding block to buff the hoof?
Was that a hoof grease or a hoof sealer you put on his hooves?
It’s a pedicure.. file, brush and polished 😄😄😄
I wish I could have seen the hoof's outer walls with feathers taped up, before and after the trim. His feet looked remarkably healthy for being so overgrown. Looked like 3-4 months worth.
Just out of curiosity what happened to wild horses?
