if you open up the front corners, the airvent by the doors rot out inside. leaves go inside the vent in front of the window and hold water inside those corners.
I was a bodyman for ten years before going to mechanics and I really enjoyed restoration projects to get a break from collision work. Nothing like getting a bunch of new panels with nothing to weld them onto!

I did open those up and cleaned them out when we first got the car.
