    The simplest things have the worst documentation sometimes. This clears up one of those simple things, thank you!

    Is the port shown there just a simple on-off based on if power is supplied to the board? or can the voltage be manipulated based on the inputs from say a thermister?

    Is there anyway to control these fan pins? For a dual extruder setup, I'm running out of pins for fans. Used up EEH from the power terminals, I'm not sure where to find another set of pins for cooling fan for cooling the material? BTW, Very nice video! Very clear and easy to understand.

    • @EdwardBraiman

      So the pins in the video are direct 12v power, so you would need to hook up something external to control power or use one of the D8-D10 output power supplies. having two Extruders can be done via one print head with two stepper drivers. An example would be Cyclops Hotend Extruder, this will allow two filaments with one hotend.

    Thank you. It must be very similar for Ramps 1.6.

      My first impression was that it would be similar for Ramps 1.6 but I could not determine board fan pins. Do you have any idea about it? Thank you.

    Hi! is there a way to control this fan in marlin? Im building a project that only uses few parts of the printer ( but I require at least 2 hotends and 2 fans). is there a way to use any of these idle connections to control a fan? (fan extenders are my last option because I can´t get one quickly)

      @EdwardBraiman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fan extender's are you best option, unless you use heatbed input.

    Good afternoon from Mexico, on my ramps 1.4, connect two fans on the "12v-Aux" pin. When you connect it to the current, smoke came out, it doesn't turn on, do you know how I can check it? Can you change the piece that damages ?. I appreciate your attention.

    • @EdwardBraiman
      @EdwardBraiman  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like a stepper driver board is plugged in backwards. It also may mean you're Arduino mega 2560 is damaged and may need replacement. It could also be powered in reverse from the power supply.

      @@EdwardBraiman I use the drv8825 drivers, the fault happened when I had everything connected, I was calibrating the drivers. I think I moved the engine with a very high voltage, but the smoke came out of the board and not the engine or driver I was calibrating. The arduino mega works when I connect it to the PC. When the arduino and the 1.4 ramps are together and I supply them with current, the ramps do not show me voltage in the drivers.

      Check the board for discoloration or burn marks on both boards. My guess is you'll see a tiny burn mark on a regulator.

      Depends on power supply you use and RAMPS 1.4 manufacture. I suggest reading the datasheet for each product you're using.

    Hello Edward, After having watched so many great videos of you, I still have to turn to you with the request and support.
    Now that my Marlin software works with Filament Runout Sensur and Auto Bed Leveling Sensor, I'm still bothered by a question.
    I am sure that you can help me successfully. Thank you very much for that.
    I would like to additionally operate a fan for the cooling of the components. How and where do I have to connect this to the RAMPS 1.4 board and how do I have to configure it in the Marlin software?
    I set my slicer so that the cooler for the components begins to cool after the first shift.
    Ask for your help.
    Best regards
    Christian

      Not sure if you have watched videos on RAMPS configuration for EFF or EFB for Marlin firmware configuration for motherboard, but that's maybe what you are looking for. What's your current physical printer configuration and your Marlin firmware configuration?

    • @christianhofer8398
      @christianhofer8398 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the quick response. Yes, I saw the video. My marline software is set to EFB. So far so good. The problem here is that D9 is meant for the fans of the hotend. Another fan can be attached to the X Motor Driver. But these PIN lead permanently power. Legs question is! How can you control the PIN via the Marline software so that the second fan can be used as a component fan and is thus controlled via the slicer?

    • @EdwardBraiman
      @EdwardBraiman  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could wire to aux digital pin and then use debug pin command to activate.

    • @christianhofer8398

      Thanks for the hint, but unfortunately I'm a Toraler lay and have no idea how and where in the Marline software I have to make these settings. Please, could you help me with this? Is the setting such that the fan starts when the first Laier has been printed? :-) :-DGreetings Christian
