At the time Disney+ debuted in November 2019, they were so late to the streaming business with a viable app that they just wanted to get a product on the market for consumers. They knew it was going to be a process of revising and updating the app on the go.
I totally agree with you, Matt. I would like Disney+ to sort of free their icons with immersive streaming video and a more colorful interface. Perhaps they should replace the overriding gray with a blue and white design.
I think it will happen soon enough. I know there's a lot of technical wizardry that has to go on behind the scenes. I can't even resize the columns on my website so I'd imagine that redoing an app used by millions of people is quite the undertaking.
@@ShallIStreamIt Bob Iger has said (can’t point to the exact interview but I know) he has said that Disney+ needs visual updates/upgrades to make it more colorful and easier to use.
This is very interesting...I had both Discovery+ and Max, then I discovered (excuse the pun😁)that a lot (if not all) of the shows on Discovery+ were also on Max, so I canceled Discovery+. Now that you mention that Disney+ is getting Max, I'm wondering if I will keep getting billed separately for each, or would they consolidate? I currently have the Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ bundle..😁Thanks and Happy New Year!
You're welcome and Happy New Year, too! I'm guessing they'll allow the current customers that have the Disney/Hulu/Max bundle to keep everything billed together and watch it through the same app but it's all just me guessing so who knows. Time will tell!
I don’t know, but I think WBD should consider shuttering Discovery+ and absorbing it into Max. It is, after all, MAX. Though, I think that is likely a bitter pill for David Zaslav to swallow.
@@mabguy1659 I think, at least for now, it’s likely that they will remain a partnership, a communication between the companies while keeping individual decisions separate.
HBO and Disney have definitely target different audiences over the years. But with the Hulu shows available on Disney+ now there's a lot less daylight between the types of content on the two services now. They do have a number of parental control options.
I already have ESPN running through my Disney Plus account though the full content w8ll only become available when Disney launches it aa a streaming service later this year. Nobody liked the crippled ESPN + service so that’s going to finally disappear.

@ I agree. For ages, Netflix itself used a simple gray and red color on its website.

What about Netflix and Max locking 4K in the highest tier also none of the bundles that include Max have the 4K tier
We'll see if they change that over time. Hopefully they will.
Im surprised that parents aren't upset by all of this.

Is Disney plus shutting down in in January 2025
Nope!
