Even though i’ve spent most of my self-conscious life suffering - mainly by my own hands 😅-, i struggle a lot with the affirmation that life is suffering.
Probably i’m biased because i need to build up a positive perspective on life if i want to grow and help others, but, doesn’t «Life IS suffering» sound too much like «Life is composed ONLY of suffering», or even «Life MUST be suffering»?
Could another phrasing help more people understand the gist or see more nuances of its truth? Something like
«There is a lot of suffering guaranteed just by being alive and about»? Or am i missing something?

    Visitors.
Hello again my old friend desperation, here to put my life up for consideration. My choices are plain and consist of but two, carry on the fight or give in to you.
Now who’s that beside you? Ahhh I do see, hopelessness comes forward to consume me. Devouring its way through my dreams and my goals, the weight of my burden I feel crushing my soul.
Anxiety comes next with fear on its shoulders, a feeling of panic triggers trembling all over. The origin of these reactions I struggle to comprehend, and whilst fighting to breathe I contemplate my end.
In an effort to escape the visitors I’ve mentioned, isolation I welcome but it’s not what I expected. With it comes loneliness and overall solitude, what was meant to offer safety only deepens my mood.
But surely now I can rely on my companion sleep, to come along with respite and just a moments peace. Yet foolish I am in expecting such release, as insomnia arrives to reinforce the bleak.
However, if by chance, insomnia doesn’t make its scheming appearance, I can depend on night terrors to render interference. Recollections of horrific events that have long passed, shatters all expectations of rest, with forces of an atomic blast.
Oh fuck! Here comes the worst of my guests, with suicide and destruction the aim of its quest. Like a poltergeist it aims to haunt my very soul, with the intention of sending me down a life ending black hole.
This caller I speak of uses depression for its name, and over time leaves family and loved ones estranged. In me it instigates both withdrawal and blame, as I lash out externally and set my bridges aflame.
So all of these visits that I get day and night, leaves me exhausted and vanquished by my plight. In my heart I feel it would be best to disappear, as each visit takes away my strength to persevere.
And if by some miracle I do survive this day, I must battle all over again to keep the visitors at bay. The consistency they show always draws me to the same conclusion, that death by my own hand, is the only solution........
    Hello Dr Peterson,
I wrote this poem during my second stay in hospital after another attempt on my own life. I wanted to start with it so you might have some idea of the despair and hopelessness in which I was experiencing at the time and at other times throughout my life. I do this in the hope it might in some way highlight and reinforce how truly grateful I am to you for both your lectures and your book. Both of which, along side EMDR therapy (and the support of loved ones and mental health services of course), have saved my life, and I am only still existing and able to write this, because of the work you have undertaken, and then taken the time to share with the world. I therefore felt impelled to make sure I took the time to say thank you, and let you know that you are saving lives, well mine at the very least anyway. I am truly indebted to you sir, and so are my family, Thank you Dr Peterson, on behalf of me and of all the human race. You have inspired me to do better and be better, and have offered me invaluable hope in a time where it was imperative to survival, you offered me a way in which to bring some order out of the chaotic tragedies of my life. You gave me a large part of the strength I needed in order to look the dragon in the eye, and that saved my soul and allowed me to grow. I would not be here without you. YOU ARE DOING THE WORK OF GOOD.
I hope this finds you and you're able to know the value of your work and my never ending gratitude. It is also my hope that this comment may offer hope to others. Those who need it most.
To anybody suffering from mental health issues, and nihilism, there IS hope, and there are good people out there who care, Dr Peterson is one of them. May you find the strength I did, exactly when you need it, I am very aware there are too many to count who unfortunately didn't, and that they paid the ultimate price with their lives. I am sorry to all of them, it's a incredibly harsh existence, and I am so very lucky to be still alive, and I'm guilty for those who didn't. I implore anyone struggling to read and watch Dr PETERSON work and I can only hope that it will give you some strength and hope.
Thank you, for taking the time to read
    J. Besau

I understand why you would feel that way, but perhaps you're missing the point. Suffering is inevitable and highly unfair, but what can give your life meaning is taking RESPONSIBILITY for reducing that suffering (or at least, not adding to it).
It is unfair, it is unfortunate, but there's no other way around it. The only thing you can do is try to make things better for yourself, your circle, and hopefully your community.

  • @DrClayOptimus
    @DrClayOptimus 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The whole point is this...
If u consider life (life in this world) alone, if u r a person who does not believe in life after death or Hereafter, then man life sucks. In such a case, life is unfair, becz life in this world is nothing but injustice and unfairness. Those who sleep on beds of money continue to sleep like that, those who beg for a piece of bread to satisfy days of their hunger will die of hunger and malnutrition.
The best concept to life, the best understanding of life was brought by Muhammed (the Prophet of Islam). He preached that life in this world is a test for the hereafter. Each and every good deed we commit, each and every bad deed we commit, whether it be in public or private, are all recorded in the fabric of space time and will be brought in front of us in the hereafter and we will be held accountable for our actions. And of course this test is conducted by The One who created us, The creator, controller and sustainer of all dimensions, The Almighty God, u can call him by any name but to him belongs the most beautiful and majestic attributes.
Life in this world is illogical and unjustified without a hereafter.
Even if u don't believe in any of these, still making the concept of Hereafter a part of ur understanding and seeing life through that window will give u perseverance to pass through this unjust life and it's sufferings (which u have to go through anyways)
So Believe in One creator and Believe in life after death, ur life will become more meaningful, u will get a good reason to do good and stay away from bad...

Jordon stop using eastern philosophy to publicise the Christian faith.
"No limit to that expansion " is pure Hindu concept. Straight away comes from the very definition of that expansion in Hinduism.
    "Sat chit ananta" -
    Sat - eternal truth
    Chit - pure consciousness
    Ananta - infinitum.
    Read kena upanishad verse 2.3.
Also do read the invocation mantra of many Upanishads, which goes
"That is complete, this is complete,
From that completeness arises this completeness,
When this completeness is taken out of that completeness, what remains is the completeness"
That completeness - the bigger expansion or supreme being.
    This completeness - all individuals.
Only completeness remains bcz the magnitude of that completeness is never been know, as it is infinite 😀🕉️

@@Zanroff the contemplation of his answer is to entice the many in the Con Game, no matter how it's twisted this "presentation" is build on the pride of man desiring to be noticed..Our Truth comes from facts in the Book that is the most distributed in the World with the knowledge of everything a human could imagine yet many turn away from it's truth because the know and feel convicted when reading it.. Then there's the Con Men that take out of the Book and attempt to twist it's words to make them seem so enlightened, educated or wise.. Yes, Logic can be used to seek Truth but We are Created beings by a Creator, A True Father and with that Creation comes Spirit.. Check this out: 3 books are on a table..A Playboy Magazine, A Popular Mechanics and the Book called The Bible.. Imagine 12 people open a door to that room where the books are setting..in Truth out of the three books which one would they most avoid picking up.. Heck, they may even display a outward expression or inward emotion while trying to avoid the one book on that table because of three things..1) The Crooks/Pimps on Tell Lie Vision have taken this particular book and twisted into a Lie of Religion in order to fool the masses and collect materialistic temporary wealth, which is pathetic. 2) This Book Convicts People that know their deeds are done in darkness but will be revealed, even with them not opening the Book and 3) Ask yourself if the Book is the most distributed book on the planet, the top selling book throughout the World, full of logic, Wisdom and Answers to so many issues..Why in the World would all 12 whom walked into that room fight over who gets to read it first?? Yes, because it is also Spiritual.. It is one of the tools provided to the Creation from the Creator, Your Father.. When you Open this Book with Sincerity to seek Truth it is taught to you not by the printed words on the paper, but by The Holy Spirit your Creator sends to work inside you within your Spirit to Reveal that which Society tries to hide, mock and down play so that you won't learn the Facts.. The Deciever/Adversary was kicked out of the place your Creator dwells because of his pride and refusal to serve..you..the Mortal, the Created One. Now he spends 24/7 trying to place trip flares along your path so you cannot return home, to your Father that through sending His Son in the Flesh giving us the Truth, Expressing Compassion to those that need it, speaking of a love that Man cannot truly comprehend then for nothing deserved He was mocked, beaten, spit upon and Murdered.. All this to take on the flawed darkness of Man that We created, the dirty deeds, the filth in darkness, the selfishness we as humans display on a daily basis.. He..Your Brother from the same Father took on this task to place it all upon himself..in the book it says He made Himself a little lower than the Angels.. Even though He through the power of Our Father could have saved himself didn't because it was His gift to us so that we that when it is understood and believed on can return Home when the last breath in the physical is taken.. This is the Truth that is being hidden from us.. This is why the world tells people they are weak, they are victims, we don't deserve to suffer..it is all played up on our pride, selfishness and emotions then presented to us as logic..this is the Con Game.. You really want to know the True Enemy then Read in the Book the book of Ephesians Chapter Six, verse 12.. even your True rewards along with the strategy of the Deciever..Read Chapter five verses 2 to 6...your relationship with your true family?? Read The Book of Matthew chapter 12 verse 50.. The Whole Truth will be revealed when you read the Book of John.but understand this, it will free you from the lies and deception, it will awaken you that once you realize you were given liberty to be free from all heavy burdens that society tries to place upon you, those that Truly Love you took on a task that no mortal could withstand, that was so full of darkness it crushed your own brother..it is something that cannot repay because He did it all for you..then He offers it as a free gift through Grace..these is no works than can earn it, no job that can repay it.. It is a gift through grace given to you from your own family for understanding and believing on what your brother did for you..when dead that same brother still taught many the Truth and how to break the mental, physical and spiritual bondage placed upon other's by men..then to demonstrate this True Power He was Risen up in the days promised by Him.. He was given ALL Strength and Glory conquering Death and Darkness by the Creator..Your Father..So that you can have all Truth Revealed and When the time comes return home, to your family with a loving brother who said: I go to prepare a place for you...who said He never leave you nor forsake you..call on Him at all times, seek Truth always..because this is the answers of what family is truly about...🙏💪☝

Buy my book! Attend my tours! Enrol in my university courses! Pay for meaning! I'm totally not an opportunistic self-help guru profiteering off of alienated people!

Having bought his book and programs online, this sentence has little merit to it. Essentially, the mans entire work is to be found online for free: On Joe Rogan, he explained exactly what selfauthoring.com is, you can do it on a piece of paper. His book is a reiteration of what he's talking about online, especially the 100s of hours of university lectures on his TH-cam.
Buying anything is more like donating to what you may think is a good cause/showing gratitude, than gaining new insight behind a paywall. He's terrible at monetizing his work.

What a pathetic human you are. JP starts crying when he talks about how people come up to him and tells him how much he has changed their life. He genuinely cares. He is definitely not perfect. There are many things where hes behind the trend. But, the basic things he talks about is true and has been true for a long time. Most of his "philosophical" ideas are literally common sense, but people rarely apply it. All his lectures are online which is literally his fucking book. You are seriously just a triggered snowflake.
