@@rattslayer that is hilarious because that was all I could remember as well. Tried searching for that and nothing. Then the other day I heard the Copacabana song and instantly I was like “that’s it!” So search for the Star Wars version of that just now and here I am :)
Me too. It wasn't on accident I don't think but the first time I heard it was my freshman year in college and I got it off of either Morpheus or limewire. One of the 2. And I was addicted to it for several days playing it nonstop.
Literally heard the original on the drive home tonight. Sang the original lyrics but once out of the car, these lyrics started popping into my head and I had to look it up lol
Downloaded this from Napster in college. (Ahhh ....memories. I really miss Napster.) Like others have said, it was attributed to Weird All. Glad I know who really did it. Very very well done!
It's been said in other comments, but this can't be stressed enough: This song actually ran for at least a couple months on top 40 radio stations when the special editions of the trilogy were released in 1997. At the time, I remember this being called "remastered", a term which until then I had not heard.
My brother was adamant that he'd heard this song on the radio back in the 90s and I never believed him because I'd never heard of this song before. For shits and giggles, I looked it up today and found this. I love it, so sorry I missed out all these years. This is the best Weird Al parody that wasn't actually by Weird Al.
Z100 I was a teenager and I had recorded this off the radio. Until today I had always thought this was a weird al song.. whew thanks for the memories!!!
One of those rare songs that I think I remember *exactly* where I was when I first heard it. Southbound on Lakeshore Drive in Chicago's Lincoln Park en route to Ford's Chicago Assembly plant for weekend word. It blew my mind then and it still does today, nearly 24 years later. Genius!
I remember as a kid this being on Grooveshark with Weird Al as the artist. It's so obvious now that it's not, but it blew my young mind to learn that it wasn't lol
Pack in the 90's there was a college radio station that played parody songs every weekend. That's how I first heard Weird Al, along with this song. Used to record them on cassette tapes
Thank you for having this posted. I had a weird, vivid memory about listening to this song on Napster when I was in like 5th grade and I was downloading "weird al" songs and for years I thought this was something he did.
If I ever get asked to sing at a karaoke night and "Copacabana" is on the song list, I am so singing this to throw the audience off...all while imitating Bill Murray's 'Nick the lounge singer' character.
A superb parody! I first heard it on Dr. Demento's OTA radio broadcast years ago and have his Basement Tapes # 5 CD which generously allowed this work to be included, Love it, Mark!
Dr. Demento, Sunday nights, and this would come on 😀 When Star Wars was re-release in the late 1990s this song was in Dr. Demento's Funny Five almost weekly. Man, I miss that show!
I dont know how, but I know literally all the words to this song since I listened to it on repeat as a child. I honestly have no idea how the song got on one of our burned CDs back in the day, but I seriously know all the words haha. What a trip. I even listened to this song as a child before I even watched the movies.
I remember this song from a Star Wars Galaxies MMO video of some sort when I was like 7 and since then, I always wanted to hear it and find it again. I even asked chatgpt to find it but without result. Now it showed me randomly in youtube recommendations. Thanks youtube
I can see why he doesn't perform it in his Lounge Against the Machine persona, but I can't deny it would be fun to see this live in concert with the complement of backup singers. Been a fan of Davis's since I first heard this when he was still local in the Phoenix area if I have my timeline right. A friend of mine had been a manager at Tower Records and instantly could tell us who this was by.
Amazing! It’s back 🎉 I never knew the original and I always sing this 😅 I so need a backing track version of this (with the backing singers and quotes) ❤
I found out about this song at Star Wars Celebration IV in L.A. I'm glad it's still online. I found it again and also found that several Star Wars songs that used to be available aren't anymore. #MTFBWY. Thanks for sharing.
Lol I found it at last! I haven't heard this song in years. Just got reminded of this in some random reddit thread just now. I thought it was by Weird Al.. The more you know 🤷🏽♀️
found it after all these years
Same
That's my boat. Remembered the "docking bay 94, storm troopers at the door", couldn't remember what it was from!
@@rattslayer that is hilarious because that was all I could remember as well. Tried searching for that and nothing. Then the other day I heard the Copacabana song and instantly I was like “that’s it!” So search for the Star Wars version of that just now and here I am :)
I know 😢😢😢
I’m you, but now. 😮
This song has been stuck in my head for 25 years.
Same
In 2024 I still knew every word by heart
Who could forget? (I listened to this every day for several months many years ago)
I haven't heard this song in at least 15 years and yet I knew every word.
I had this song stuck in my head
Was listening to Copa cabana and TH-cam was like, "you need an upgrade my guy" and now I'm here
It's amazing how things work out
Genuinely surprised to learn this wasnt a weird al song
That voice is spot-on.
Also this parody is all I hear in my brain whenever I try to think of the original, and I'm okay with this.
dude sounds like Barry Manilow
Downloaded this by accident on Limewire in 2000. Glad I did.
Same! At the time I was only 8 and never heard the original song
Me too. It wasn't on accident I don't think but the first time I heard it was my freshman year in college and I got it off of either Morpheus or limewire. One of the 2. And I was addicted to it for several days playing it nonstop.
This is the most important song ever.
Ever since I heard this song about 20 years ago, it always pops into my head at random times.
"His name was Yoda, he was a muppet" That line has been living rent free in my head for 16 years
I found this searching for music in that old Windows Media Player, around 2005, 19 years later I finally found it again.
This got a disturbing amount of airtime on the radio stations where I was back in the late 90s.
This song still lives in my head from my youth, had to search it up all this time later.
I remember listening to this with my bro, and having it on loop as I played Battlefront 2 (2005) as a kid. Such a memorable song 💜
This was literally the dream 😭 battlefront 2 on a PlayStation 2, omg take me back
Aww, can identify ❤
This has replaced the original song in my mind
Literally heard the original on the drive home tonight. Sang the original lyrics but once out of the car, these lyrics started popping into my head and I had to look it up lol
My dad showed me and my sister this parody as kids and I can barely remember the real lyrics at this point because I heard the parody first.
Downloaded this from Napster in college. (Ahhh ....memories. I really miss Napster.) Like others have said, it was attributed to Weird All. Glad I know who really did it. Very very well done!
Wow. I was sure this was Weird Al.
Q102 in Cincinnati played this on their morning show in 1997. Brian and John Jay.
Same here
It didn’t help that my dad gave me this song with two Weird Al albums back in the day.
Me too but to be fair I had a mislabeled MP3 that had it as Weird Al.

This is quality, why don't more people know about it?
My brother was adamant that he'd heard this song on the radio back in the 90s and I never believed him because I'd never heard of this song before. For shits and giggles, I looked it up today and found this. I love it, so sorry I missed out all these years. This is the best Weird Al parody that wasn't actually by Weird Al.
I want to say this was in the Top 40 for a bit. It was kind of a hit when the Star Wars movies were re-released in theaters in the late 90s.
Z100 I was a teenager and I had recorded this off the radio. Until today I had always thought this was a weird al song.. whew thanks for the memories!!!
dude Z100 same here. NYC back in the day haha

‘A Danish on each ear’ killed me 😂
Old but gold
I heard Copacabana recently and was humming it when these lyrics came to mind instead of the original ones 😂
Have the most vivid memories of listening to this on Z-100 driving with my parents in 1997. Awesome times.
never gets old
I heard this song at a yard sale once when I was like 12 or 13 and every now and then I’ll sing the chorus. I’m glad I found it

My thoughts exactly
A superb parody! I first heard it on Dr. Demento's OTA radio broadcast years ago and have his Basement Tapes # 5 CD which generously allowed this work to be included, Love it, Mark!
my apologies. I thought this was Weird Al FOREVER....great song!
I'm happy I found this song.
This takes me back!!!
Dr. Demento, Sunday nights, and this would come on 😀 When Star Wars was re-release in the late 1990s this song was in Dr. Demento's Funny Five almost weekly. Man, I miss that show!
Dr. Demento still has a weekly show! Visit www.drdemento.com
My dad loved this song when I was a kid (in my 30s now...), we thought it was a Weird Al song for a long time
I dont know how, but I know literally all the words to this song since I listened to it on repeat as a child. I honestly have no idea how the song got on one of our burned CDs back in the day, but I seriously know all the words haha. What a trip. Loved this song, been trying to listen to it again
Found this on either Napster or Kazaa back in the day, good times
Absolute heat
Brings back so many nostalgic memories.
finally a version of copacabana that’s not super dark
And it’s perfect because my favourite thing in the world is Star Wars
I've been looking for this for years
The best version 😂
The Best Music Video I've Ever Seen-a!
Nice Spaceballs reference in the scroll ;)
I was vaguely remembering this from years ago and couldn't remember the lyrics. Glad I could find it ^_^
I remember this song from a Star Wars Galaxies MMO video of some sort when I was like 7 and since then, I always wanted to hear it and find it again. I even asked chatgpt to find it but without result. Now it showed me randomly in youtube recommendations. Thanks youtube

I just found it like half a year ago, now its a clasic in my friend group
OMG...this is bloody brilliant - so clever.
Amazing! It’s back 🎉 I never knew the original and I always sing this 😅
I so need a backing track version of this (with the backing singers and quotes) ❤
Nicely combined two seventies melodies 👍🙂
This is really, really well done! I salute you!!
what a throw back
This is lowkey fire 😩😩
I found out about this song at Star Wars Celebration IV in L.A. I'm glad it's still online. I found it again and also found that several Star Wars songs that used to be available aren't anymore. #MTFBWY. Thanks for sharing.
I remember finding this in the early days of TH-cam. Fun times.
old but gold
Classic
This is the song I have been looking for.... 🤣 🤣 🤣
Just the best Star Wars parody song ever!!!
May the 4th be with u
A good use for Barry Manilou.
Anyone notice the credits? "Barry Manilow is awesome"!
Omg I finally found it again!!!
I remember a skit in a random RuneScape video and this song was used. Good days 😭
AWESOME!!! ❤️
I remember hearing this on Fox Kids radio
So creative and cool!
For those who don't know, this is the lead singer of Richard Cheese & Lounge Against the Machine.
Yes! So awesome!🤣🤣🤣
This tune gave me my name.
Lol I found it at last! I haven't heard this song in years. Just got reminded of this in some random reddit thread just now. I thought it was by Weird Al.. The more you know 🤷🏽♀️
Siempre va

Cool! The entire OT in under 3 minutes
This is totally fantastic!!!!!!!!!
Hilarious
Perfect song for the Star Wars balloon my brother got me
Thanks to Wes at Sasquatch Chronicles for playing this at the end of one of his episodes....epic!
Awesome!...
Luke kissed his sister; his hand got cut-off.
I mean it's kind of cheesy but in a good way
You don't have to like star wars to like this song but thats just me
I love this song
So, this was before he became Richard Cheese?
Awesome
❤️✌️🧀
