Quick question for your course I've been wanting to purchase it ever since I've discovered your channel to be honest The only reason I didn't do it yet is lack of time. It wouldn't be useful to subscribe to it if I barely work on it But now that I'm starting to be slightly more available, how much time a day/a week do you usually expect/recommend? I guess it depends on the person obviously, but on average. Knowing that I think I have a decent-ish accent already and I'm fluent when it comes to understanding. Regarding speaking, I'm not sure. I know I am aware of the words, but I'm not sure if I'd think about using them or if I instinctively go for more basic ones
Hello! Thanks for your question. It's great to know that you're interested in working with me on your accent. To be honest, it's about fitting it in to your daily life. I will give you tips and advice on this (based on your situation and accent) at the very beginning of the course, when you send me your first voice message. For example, each sound (on average) takes my students 10-14 days to build muscle memory - so you would only need to watch one of the lessons every 1-2 weeks. During the time between lessons, you can send me voice messages on WhatsApp to get corrections. This could be a 30 second clip practicing some sentences when you're having a busy day, or it could be a 10 minute conversation message, when you have more time. I will respond with feedback and keep the conversation whenever there is any. So ideally, you would try to practice every day.. I usually recommend short but frequent practice throughout the day (eg. 10 minutes of listening practice in the morning, 5 minutes of reading out loud during the day, 10 minutes of free speech/sentence practice in the afternoon - or whatever works for you). Elliot, am I wrong or some British singers sometimes pronounce the 't' the way Americans do? The Beatles come to mind like in "Hey, Judy"... "Take a sad song and make it better..." What do you say?
It’s a very popular thing in the music industry to borrow bits of the American accent. This is one of the main reasons why I don’t recommend using music for learning pronunciation
I've always thought that connective speech was the same as linking, or linking words... If I got it right, linking is actually a part of connective speech, is it so? What else is there? Thanks for your videos!

R is only pronounced in RP English when it comes before a vowel sound, or if we are connecting our speech.

Connected speech is the general umbrella term for all of the things that make it happen: linking, intrusive sounds, assimilation, elision etc.

Yep, very common. It is called an intrusive /r/ and is a different type of connected speech.
