Ksamil derives from Albanian word Sami and It arose as a coastal town during the communist period. In November 1966, Enver Hoxha ordered the establishment of a citrus and olive production center in this beautiful and virgin country. Thus Ksamil was "born", only 5 km away from Butrint, in front of the picturesque islands, on the Heksamil peninsula (six miles from Butrint). To the beautiful landscape of the sea and the hills are added the two vital colors, blue and green, which further beautify the bay of Ksamil. Chameria is Albanian From Janina down to Arta.

Kssmil was fantastic before it became a tourist hotspot destination. Now it gets too overcrowded with tourists.
