Six OneNiner!! brotha i am wit you on that. this song playin with that bass riding the track and the old back in the day photos lookin at the sylvers just takes me back to time of being able to dance to good music really gettin down. soul trainand croker sack shoes
I feel so impowered, when I listen to great music like this. Long live the 70s. I want to time travel back never to return. An era that I grew up in that I cherish forever.
The Sylvers deserves a star ⭐️ on the Hollywood walk of fame for their contributions to the world of music. The excellence of Leon Sylvers Jr professionalism in music & song writing✍️ puts him in a renowned class by himself.
Wow ... beautiful. I love The Sylvers as I grew up listening to their music, fantasizing like most teen girls about being on the arm of one of Ricky, Edmund, James or Leon. Such a talented family. And I didn't know that Charmaine co-wrote 'A Night To Remember' recorded by Shalamar. I knew Leon Sylvers was the force behind SOLAR and produced many of the songs including songs by The Whispers, but I didn't know Charmaine was writing songs. Wow, God truly gave out extra talent to this family.
BLK Fox, I concur - LOVE TH-cam, especially when you find the good stuff from back in the day. I had never heard this before, but it was banging and they truly were ahead of their time; they were not your average teen group.
Oh my God, I love the sylvers been a fan since they appear on soul train and Sonny & Cher show , what's my line , as kids with their parents, Danny Thomas show, When they were teens and saw them doing barbershop music as kids , their harmony is impeccably great something the J5 didn't have, J5 had Mike and Jermaine great hits ,Motown ,Berry Gordon, amazing management , sell music in 68 and 70s sold over 100 millions of copies ,then their mike had class on his own, sylvers were and still have amazing impeccable voices I still play their music watch them on you tube, they may have regular adverage jobs but they left the music industry with class and music to the ear and heart love love love the sylvers and they always put God first. What a beautiful talented family their mom did a great job raising them, I saw their story on unsung yes Ricky and foster made mistakes and Olympia was used and almost lost her life by thugs, but she still look great they all do, I wish this family was bigger in the music world that had such class and just great siblings may Jehovah be with them.
Thumbs up if @ 2:52 if you like Black Ivory & The Sylvers representin'! I sometimes find myself listening to "You & I" by Black Ivory right after listening to "Wish I Could Talk To You" by The Sylvers! Classic Soul!
Those were the good ol' days when I was in love with Foster Sylvers. My grandma lived about 13 blocks from the newstand and I walked those blocks just to buy the Right On book and anything else I saw the Sylvers on the cover of. I had Foster and the Sylvers lol plastered on my walls and on my heart. Hotline and boogie fever were my favorites. I remember begging my parents to let me stay up late so I can watch them on a late night show and they did. I was soooo happy😁😍😊😘💚💛💙One of my daughters is named Charmayne with a y instead of an i. When her dad suggested the name I immediately said yes not even realizing it at the time but I always said I would name my daughter after one of the Sylvers sisters. Love me some Sylvers. Especially Foster💚💛💙also: my daughter Charmayne is a pisces born March 3, 88
This family are musical geniuses. The vocals are just amazing and the band playing the instruments is 🔥. Shout out to the legendary Sylvers that captured the world with the sound of great Soul and R&B for decades. Honor this group and place them in every category of the highest achievement and recognition for their contribution to the music industry. 🎶 ❤😅😊
@RememberTheTime09 lmao ... every time I think of the phrase Pretty Ricky I'm thinking of the Martin episode when he went back to his high school reunion to face Pretty Ricky who caused him grief while in high school. I loved that episode. But back to the real Pretty Ricky, he and his family are much loved. I'm so fortunate to have experienced The Sylvers back in the day, and relive all the memories here on TH-cam (I love TH-cam). Allows us to stroll down memory lane each and every visit.
At 2:14, can't nobody tell me that Ricky (Pretty Ricky what they called him - lol) wasn't the finest specimen of a young man. If only I had my chance with him (dang). Still want me some Ricky. Come home soon baby (Foster too), you all are much loved by millions.
Sadly, Motown would have barred them from playing their own instruments on their own records and had the Funk Brothers play everything...just like they did the Jacksons. It's a safe bet that Leon would've butted heads with Berry Gordy over it. On one hand, they would've had a monster push...but they wouldn't have had as much in the way of creative control.
I don't think Jermaine was allowed to play on the Motown J5 recordings-wasn't being allowed to play on their studio cuts one of their reasons for switching labels? But listening to some Jackson 5 live performances here on youtube, Jermaine could definitely play, in my opinion. That said, I agree Leon is immensely talented.
THE SYLVERS SOUND WAS MUCH BETTER THAN THE J5 AND AS FOR OLMPIA AND CHARMAINE MY GOODNESS GOOD GOD All Mighty I Can't Tell Who Was The Prettiest THE Finest I FELL IN LOVE WITH BOTH OF THEM
@@Kimmica20 thank you. As a child growing up when boogie fever first hit the airwaves I had an huge instant crush on that young lady, problem is I thought I was crushing on Angela not knowing if was until now Charmaine. 😄
@BLKFOX2000 I'm laughing so hard Ricky, excuse me Pretty Ricky is getting alot of online love! Its great haha. He and the rest of them are very photogenic!

so they were a big, successful, happy, black, creative, performing family, and history, at least in uk, has forgotten them? We remember the fuckups - hello very happy ex jackson 5s - but the ones who weren't, who were happily black, very political too, were forgotten? Okay, im white british and not prone to conspiracy theories but they so don't fit the plot. Like all disabled people in movies never have girlfriends or if they do they split up, it's part of the stories poc are allowed to have, if they're unhappy about being black ( lately lil kim apparently came back looking white - if the story is true, i lacked the interest to read beyond the headline) they get coverage, if they're not, forgotten. Media loves a fuckup whoever it is, filmstar? paedophile, top girl star? breakdown, etc, but this is a story that sticks to poc like other minorities have other stories the media is happy to reiterate (women it's always, they hate their body, either they eat too much or not enough), that's part of structural racism i think, so putting this up there is in its way fighting that
forgotten in america too. dunno if you can find it in u.k., but there is a show called "unsung" which tells r+b and rap bios from forgotten acts. sylvers are actually a tragic story. they were only semi-political for a few albums and then they got put in a pop/disco strait-jacket.
Just a beautiful family, every last one of them...and their harmonies was just...just breathtaking.
Love this jam.Love the Sylvers.Once again a very talented family and so underrated.
the amazing silvers , first ballet Hall of fame
Leon was waaaayy ahead of the pack as a song writer, producer, arranger and bassist. Appreciate the o.g. photos, memories galore!!!

Better that we help bring it back, cariño ~
One of the greatest songs that I just recently heard. Didn't realize how great the Sylvers actually were.
Those harmonies, though... absolutely sublime. Almost ethereal, if you will...
The Sylvers deserves a star ⭐️ on the Hollywood walk of fame for their contributions to the world of music. The excellence of Leon Sylvers Jr professionalism in music & song writing✍️ puts him in a renowned class by himself.
I would love to see that!

They were too young to be this badass.

@2:50 The Sylvers and Black Ivory I wish that show was video tape
wow if Motown picked them up the j5 wouldn't have been so hot
I so wish that The Sylvers had gotten the shine that they deserved.
I don't know Michael was a one man Army himself but indeed the Sylvers were great and held back.
Sadly, Motown would have barred them from playing their own instruments on their own records and had the Funk Brothers play everything...just like they did the Jacksons.
