“….has brought his large friend” I’m dying 😂
Jason's old lady/ machine gun/ air guitar/ flying broom combo killed me
It is not a flying broom, its a Dothraki Screwdriver
don't forget the porn demonstration against Mikey
It's crazy to me how accurately they portrayed old-timey film's quick movements so well. 😮
Not to mention the random people doing weird random stuff!
😅
My son made a random comment a few months ago about how 'people walked really quickly in the old days' - he thought it was because they didn't have cars!🤣
i assumed it was actually sped up until I saw the end!
Kenan's movements were scarily accurate, eating that hotdog lmao
Mikey Day, killing it as usual lol!!! The whole skit is hilarious 😂😂😂!
Iam actually impressed with the speed acting Mikey is an ace at this.
Play it back at 0.75X speed.
That’s because it actually was filmed at a lower frame rate 😄
@@DJPjerrotNo, it wasn't. People who were at the show said they were doing all the sped up movements themselves live in front of the audience.
This sketch was unbelievably funny. Mikey Day should never leave SNL. Very Well done
This had no business being this funny, Jason made this even better
Jason is a natural he might be the next 5 timer
Right??
Jason makes everything better.
Yang makes everything worse.
You can tell when he jumps off the stage with the parasol Mary Poppins style they had way too much fun doing this one
Jason made me laugh so hard. Booty popping at Mikey Day at the end of the skit. This was funny to watch. 😂🤣😂😂
mikey day putting his hand on his hip every 3 seconds had my crying with laughter
It's a rare gem when an SNL skit makes me laugh the entire time.
What type of compliment is that? Backhanded af 🤡
@@JRMagro oh wow. Are you a writer on the show? You're taking it so personally. 💩
The businessman and his large friend, they nailed the naming of the two lol
As a fan of silent movies, I loved this sketch! And yes, Jason Momoa definitely was having a lot of fun, and it showed!
Mamoa movements and faces to the camera were so hilarious! How can he be so funny? Love him!
"Remember, this is the 1900s so this might be the most fun these people have in their entire lives." 😅 Lol, that can't possibly be true.
The great Recession of 1910 and world wars... Maybe
@@rkms5606 I mean...getting drunk, banging whores and going to the carnival should be funnier than standing Infront a camera. Should but who knows...
As always, Kenan steals the show even if its for a couple seconds 😂
Glizzy Gang!
I, too like to booty-pop in 12 frames per second. 🙌
Does anybody have as much fun hosting SNL as Momoa? He always seems to be having the time of his life
He's a fan of SNL (particularly the 1990s era where Adam Sandler and Chris Farley were the breakout stars) and did momentarily consider auditioning for the show before being cast as Khal Drogo.
Business gentleman and his large friend are easily the best character names in all recorded media
The effete nature of the description really sold it. When they suddenly started gurning and twerking in front of the camera I nearly choked on my peach water. Did not realize Mr. Momoa could be so amusing.
Don't think there's a guest who has more fun than Jason. Maybe he should just be a cast member for a season, he'd be so good at it!
So funny!!! I give it to him, but Nate hosting was hysterical.
He’s good on this show because he’s not afraid of making a fool of himself.
He will be a very expensive cast member. I don't think SNL can afford that mate.
Their acting is absolutely fabulous
They weren't ruby slippers in the book, they were silver.
Aannddd... The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz was published in May, 1900, so that man is an imposter!
Lol, came here to point that out too- we're all a bunch of nerds
We know more about Baum than SNL.
Are you all like "jackals" from Seth Meyers' show
I was just coming to say this isn't Seth Meyers' channel 😂
This was absolutely hilarious
Chloe in that outfit and in black and white looked remarkably like Lucille Ball.
true!
Oh my Jason twirling his hat was just amazing. He knew how to sell it.
1:48 In L. Frank Baum’s original story, Dorothy doesn’t have ruby slippers, she has silver shoes. They were changed to ruby slippers for the movie.
Seems like PBS reporter would have read the book.
@@oldmanmarkpapaclansuperior9548 Or at the very least, talked to someone who had.
Seriously people... It's comedy!!!
@@loriallenbaugh35 Comedy is all the better when it gets obscure facts correct, though. Knowing that "shrubbery" was actually a term for "prostitute" in the middle ages makes Holy Grail all the funnier.
I'd have had Bowen's character correct her as part of the whole "the show's host is a bit dim" running joke.
Yes we know this....
Absolutely superb sketch - brilliantly conceived and executed.
Bravo! 🏆
Jason Mamoa's new title should be "The Large Friend".
Wish I had a large friend...
* sheepishly kicks the dirt *
Jason Momoa is a classic 😀😃😄😁😆😅🤣😂😛😜🤪
I like the cut at the end to show it wasn't pre-recorded
I think it was a nod to The Wizard of Oz, when the black and white film changes to colour.
“This is the early 1900s, this might be the most fun these people had in their entire lives” 😆😆😆
Best line of the skit!
2:00 Jason’s wave😂😂😂😂
Longfellow looks like he's from that era.
"Well, remember this was the early 1900s. People didn't know what was good or interesting."
Tragic this line didn't get laughs
Jim Carey did a series of these sketches on In Living Color… hilarious
Yes!! The background guy!! 😂
YTUBE link? Cheers.@@valpaz5802
Jason is not only a superhero movie star, he's funny, and he's so sweet, genuine, kind & giving, he's a motivation to be happy and be your best self and gives off that feeling he'd like you just because he's nice if he met you walking the beach & you just randomly said Hi
The large friend 😂😂
I was expecting the business man and his large friend to put on a backpack fashion show.
Great cast💚this’ll go down as another good era in SNL
Good? Not great?
@sexydictator3241 not great or good. Terrible.
And coincidently, "The Wizard Of Oz" happens to be playing on TNT tonight.
Mikey spanking Jason at the end 😂😂
I love how creative this was!
I haven't watched every skit yet, but based on what I have seen this is one of the funnier SNLs in a long time thanks to Mamoa.
This is genius. And it was done live.
😂 We always wonder if there's photobomber back in the early day😅 so I guess SNL make it happens
There's historical footage on TH-cam "A Trip Down Market Street, 1906" where kids were photobombing in front the camera.
It's Blockquaman!
Now I need a skit with Jason Momoa and John Mulaney called The Large Friend and His Tall Child😂😂😂
This reminds me of the Penn and Teller SNL sketch where the camera zooms out at the end to reveal that, nope, they’re straight up doing the trick the hard way.
Baum's jacket was used in The Wizard of Oz, the costume designer found it in an antique shop. They didn't realize it belonged to him until after the film came out.
I loved the way JM embraced being ‘hammy’
What amazing footage! 😂
Funniest skit of the night 😂💯
Unbelievable idea for a sketch! Brilliant!
“This is PBS so only about ten people are watching…” I lost it! Hahahaha!
In the book, the slippers are silver. The 1939 classic movie featured ruby slippers for visual appeal in Technicolor.
Lol, loved the jolly ole good time those chaps had!
0:45 “You know what, NO” I should use that, the sarcasm was on poiny
3:22 How to Instagram your lunch, early 1900s-style.
3:11 - LMFAO!
I got heavy mom chasing after a sugared up toddler vibes from those stage assistants running after Mamoa at the end.
I have to say that episode is one of the best this year,, Great skits with Jason...
Jason Momoa kind of looks like the silent film comedy villain, Mack Swain here!
In the novel the shoes are silver. MGM changed them to red to take advantage of the new technicolor film process!
Dorothy's slippers were silver in the book. They made them ruby slippers in the movie because they looked better in Technicolor.
How was such a basic sketch this f'n good!!! That was so much fun. ❤❤❤
That was sooo cute! 🥰😂
Paused right after Mikey came on to say how much I loved what he did! so great!
"Business gentleman" and his large friend
and thus the birth of Laurel and Hardy type comedy
can't wait until Large Friend comes back to host again
Mikey Day is the star of SNL no doubt.. The acting in this was great.. bear in mind, they werent actually filming at a lower frame rate.. the actors had to move really fast.. ( just in case you didnt realize ;)
Heidi probably likes the theme of the sketch since she's from KC and Baum of course set Wizard of Oz in Kansas.
KC is in Missouri
@@ScottsStockDueDiligence There's a Kansas City in both states. Two cities separated by the border between them.
@@Andrea-xs4ny that is true but the KC where the sports teams are and most of the people live is in Missouri.
@@ScottsStockDueDiligence Okay, but your comment was that Kansas City is in Missouri, as if to say that there's only 1 Kansas City and it's in the state of Missouri.
@@Andrea-xs4ny I see what you mean but the original comment was wizard of oz was based in Kansas and since Heidi is from Kansas City she must likes the sketch. Most people from KC including Heidi were born in Missouri not Kansas. That is what i was trying to convey.
Fun fact: In L. Frank Baum's original book, the slippers were silver! They changed it in the movie to make it look more vivid in color.
This dude looks like Seth MacFarlane's asian brother😂😂😂 0:30
Many years later, nothing's changed.
Ok now this is funny 😂😂😂
Momoa is one of the best hosts ever in the shows history. He should be a regular.
The shoes were silver in the books werent they.
Yes they were. And they weren’t slippers.
YES!!
Funny how early 20th century folk are almost as obsessed with cameras as us modern folk are 😂😂😂
I believe the slippers were actually silver in the book. They changed it to ruby in the movie to take advantage of the film being in color.
The large friend 😂
This was fun because it was creative.
The slippers were silver in the book, not ruby.
Yay! I’m not they only one who knew that!
Now everytime I watch black and white video I will think of this skit
I just kept laughing and laughing. Why is this so great!?
Kudos. That was a great idea for a sketch.
1:46 In this moment, i think it would have been both accurate and interesting if Bowen corrected her that Dorothy's slippers were silver in the book. They were only ruby in the movie to show off Technicolor technology.
The Large friend 😂
That is the funniest thing I have seen this season.
Jason 😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
There's an abundance of actual vintage footage on TH-cam and you can actually see people in those movies doing just about this very thing!
Where?
Mikey Day pretending to be a woman
Jason Momoa pretending that a cane is a machine gun, a guitar and a horse
Kenan Thompson pretending to eat a hotdog
I've never laughed more at an SNL sketch in years
Very clever!
OMG IM ROLLING!! 😂😂😂😂
This might be the most fun they’ve had in their entire lives😂
It will be a great day when Jason Momoa is inducted in the 5 Timers Society.
This is soooo funny 😂😂😂😂
"They didn't know what was good or interesting." 🤩
Kudo’s to the writer(s). Great skit!
I don't know why the Jason Momoa episode had multiple retro film sketches, but I'm here for it.
