Artillery causes between 70%-80% of all casualties. Given the Russian dominance in artillery and air power there is no possible way for the UAF to inflict heavier losses on the Russians.
Not only does Russia have artillery and missile dominance but they are using devastating FAB guided bombs in huge numbers. Even strong defences are eliminated by these weapons which Ukraine cannot match.

i’m not a big fan of history legend but he did a very good analysis of the meat wave theory, everyone interested in that subject should look at it. or just know that the battlefield is filmed by drone 24/7 and not a single of these events have been filmed… while a guy throwing his rifle to defend against a drone was….

They attacked probably to save time to build fortification around sumy , their goal was to capture kursk nuclear power plant and maintain a sanitization zone around sumy until real fortified positions are erected .
The major Russian Offensive has already lasted nearly three years, and got, um.... well nowhere really, they've actually gone backwards, they are not occupying as much territory as they did this time 2 years ago.
