Sorry, I missed seeing this earlier. Yes, you have to book the train in advance - there is a stand nearby in the main plaza with signs to book with them. You can usually be squeezed in within an hour or so.
So good to hear from you, hope all is well with you. Yes, we certainly did see and enjoy El Greco's view of Toledo. What an amazing place to meander about in.
Good to hear from you, Ivan. Hope all is well with the two of you. Vacation was amazing. We visited about 10 places in Spain and then almost 10 more in Portugal. Fell in love with Portugal ! Thanks for the compliment on the video. I'm behind in doing videos but trying to get back in the swing of things like I used to. In case you are interested, I now take tons of photos and have them on my Flickr account. Just choose "people" and then type my user name of "Boort47" without the quotation marks and you can see highlights of our latest trip as well as last year's Italy trip. I'm constantly adding new photos on a daily basis on Flickr.
@@CaptainSmith23 We did almost 7 full weeks. Started in Spain and then ended it in Portugal where we had not been before. Covid restrictions had eased a lot, but you still had to wear masks on buses, trains, and a lot of indoor restaurants. Outdoor eating was ok for leaving masks off - but overall not strict as it was last year in Italy. I think now it is even less restrictions and you can actually fly on planes without masks. Much better than last year. Again, it's always a good idea to check online for travel advisories regarding flying and restrictions based upon where you are planning to go as they can change suddenly.
@@CaptainSmith23 Keep an eye out for those major heat waves hitting much of Europe. It was already getting very hot toward the end of our trip. So you might want to think of going in fall when things cool down.
do you ever buy Eurorail pass to travel between cities or do you travel alot by car rental or guided tours ? I've done the rail pass and the tour/never rented a car in Europe .....your filming is always so nice ,you like the same historical things I like .....I went to Aranjuez , Madrid and to Barcelona before {I like cities more than scenery or beaches}...do you have a favorite region in Spain this year ? Have a wonderful visit
I'm having weird glitches in my postings today...seems like earlier responses didn't take? Anyhoo....thanks for the nice comments. We've never used Eurorail even though we've taken the trains in Germany, France and last year Italy. We really used the buses and rails while in Spain and enjoyed those, not using any car rentals (when we did Andalucia Spain in 2014 we drove exlusively all over that area because the rail service wasn't that broad and bus service was sketchy.) After Spain in June, we went over to Portugal and there we did do some car rentals and used rails a few times. One of my favorite places in Spain was San Sebastian, but Salamanca was a joy, as was Segovia, Toledo...I'm way behind in my TH-cam creations and uploads....got quite a few places to do from last year's Italy trip. Thanks again for the comments.
great video, did you have to book the train?

I was there in 1960. A lot of changes. I am sure you saw El Greco’s view of Toledo.
