Passing the in-cab inspection is an integral part of the CDL road test, and its significance cannot be overstated for anyone aspiring to excel in the trucking industry. The CDL in-cab inspection is a meticulous evaluation that gauges a candidate's understanding of the critical safety and operational aspects of their truck. It ensures that aspiring truckers are not only proficient in the technicalities of the vehicle but also committed to upholding the highest standards of safety in the world of trucking. A successful in-cab inspection demonstrates a driver's competence in checking essential components like brakes, lights, gauges, and emergency equipment. Failing to meet these standards can not only jeopardize one's CDL but also compromise the safety of the entire trucking community. So, remember, acing the in-cab inspection is not just a test requirement; it's a testament to your dedication to safe and responsible trucking practices.

Don't forget the seatbelt
I swear i forgot mine when we were doing the in cab I’m currently in school i forgot not no more tho practice makes perfect
Seriously, in Florida this would be a Fail from the start.
1. Get in truck using 3 points of contact.
2. Seatbelt: Properly mounted & secured top & bottom, not cut, torn or frayed, buckles & unbuckles properly, buckle your belt.
3. Safe start
And emergency hand brake
Automatic fail😅😅

This what my couch told me extra….
fantastic job bro even tho i already have my California CDL with all endorsements - double/triple - tanker/hazmat over two years ago. but i like to watch your video as a refresher. most videos are somewhat sporadic and backward procedures. awesome video and very clear on your wordings and explanation. i have subscribe and will watch more of your videos and recommend to families and friends. do you have your school in Norcal & Socal? thanks!
Nope
Doing my test tomorrow wish me luck 😁 confident after watching this guy!!!!
How did you do
❤thank you! Too bad I am in Canada. Really appreciated
Thanks for watching all the way up north!
Im working on this now, just did my week of training (through work) and have my test on monday, what i noticed you missed ( I don't know if it's a company thing, or a DOT thing) but you missed the seatbelt and the gauges.
How I'm being trained:
4 safety items:
1) seatbelt is properly mounted and secured, not torn, frayed, or cut. Buckles and unbuckles (rebuckle when done)
2) fire extinguisher is properly mounted and secured and is properly charged as indicated by the yellow arrow in the green area of the gauge.
3) 3-bidirectional reflective triangles properly mounted and secured (name where they are).
4. Spare fuses (at least 1 of each size needed) and / or circuit breakers (name where they are).
Safe start, build pressure to govener blow-off, shut down and turn key on, commence leaktest (as you displayed), followed by the "buzzer" and "pop out" (my naming) tests.
Safe start no. 2 then start lights functioning (left and right turn, 4-ways, and highbeams, map/dome) steering wheel has no more than 2" of play either way, horn working, and gauges, including the "correct operating ranges" for each (water 180-210 deg., oil between 20-60 psi, volts between 12-14, tach is responsive, speedo is at 0 where it should be since I'm not moving, fuel is not reliable that's why we checked it on the exteral pretrip inspection, def is at x reading, air should be between 90-120 and is rising) while pressure rebuilds. For the windows and mirrors I was told "securley mounted and not cracked, chipped, or discolored (mirrors) and "properly adjusted for me" (mirrors). Wipers securely mounted, and not damaged, doesn't streak when testing fluid.
Then after all that the brake checks:
Tractor (release red trailer), trailer (release yellow tractor), then service (roll and press brake pedal while hovering hands over the wheel to check for pull when brakes are applied, could also test trailer service via the handvalve, but that's not in my paperwork)
It's all easy when I can reference the paperwork and there is no nervousness to contend with. I just hope I can get it all right at testing time. Same thing with the other pre-trips, post-trip(s), and driving, I've been hit and miss with the manual transmission this past week, at least I though so. 🤞
Your videos have seemed to be the closest to what they're teaching. Thanks!!!
Thank you for sharing your insights on the training process! It's great to see the attention to detail in ensuring safety on the job. Keep it up!!
I need watch this video over and over and over and over so i don't miss a thing lol b😊
Waiting for the automatic in cab inspection
Have you made a video of the air brake test in an automatic school bus? I can't find one!
I can’t find no automatic video for class a tho ? Help with link or
Free good time thanks allat
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Appreciate the support!
What do u do when u drive 5 mph n it pulls right u put it in park press the yellow button n shut off the truck alert the company…I’m going for my cdl here in south Texas n I wanna learn this what to do when air brakes fail say I have a load n I’m parked somewhere someone cuts that green red that connects to trailer I call roadside assistance also Manuel transmission I’m trying to watch as many tutorials on TH-cam I even bought a nootropic but tight turns in businesses reversing where to sleep if your hours run out n u gotta wake up in the morning n your load is 30 min away idk
Sooo two questions...in cali u dont have to chok the wheels with a manual? And how much of this am i expaining to the examiner? Like everything your saying ? Also do you actually look at the reflectors and fire extiguisher ...or do you just point them out?
So what about automatic during the brake Test do you put it in drive?
You speed so fast
What about the tank hold with no brakes applied ?
When you guys doing the incab inspection for auto
Is your feet on the clutch whole time your build air pressure
We Got A Lot More. Seatbelt Is Properly Adjusted To The Driver, The Seat Itself Is Properly Mounted & Adjusted Go The Driver. Toggle Switches (5th wheel slide toggle, shutdown override, etc.) Along with Gauges Windshield Weather Stripping. Why Is That?
well....my test is tomorrow and although Im suuuuper nervous, I do think you made a mistake. the turning the key for the safe start is to see if its at 90 psi or below. am I wrong?
I failed my air breaks test not knowing how to tell if the test was successful or not or where the psi began to drop
got my cdl yesterday. 🎉🎉
Congrats on getting your CDL! That's a huge accomplishment. Keep it up this 2024!!

@@CDLDrivingAcademy i just passed my test today thank you very much and all respect to the best driving school in the world I can’t be more happy
What about the Guages?
Is this for Massachusetts?
Please when doing incab inspection and breack test always bring the camera 📷 very close so that people will see the reading also
What about when to chock wheels? or the right time to remove the chock
?
Thank you for watching the video. Chocking wheels is crucial for safety, especially when parking on an incline or on uneven surfaces. You should remove the chock after you have safely parked and are ready to drive again.
Don’t forget the seat belt right?
So you don’t chock your wheels no more??? I’m confused
He said "in cabin" no,?
seat belt and emergency triangles
Please do automatic
What about seat belt?
Test Again tomorrow
Did you pass ?
Forgot to describe your cluster board and gauges

Probably 10 but could be more
Don’t forget your seatbelt!!!
Have you done 2023 in cab inspection class A automatic
We posted an updated version of this topic. Check our Videos Section. Thanks!
I will do that thank you
What about tractor and trailer break test
Thank you for suggesting the tractor and trailer brake test! We'll make sure to add it to our video ideas list. Do you have a specific question about this topic?
Hands off the steering wheel lol
You forgot the DEF light and the trailer ABS Light came on on the trailer
Thank you for bringing this to my attention! I appreciate your comment and will make sure to include these in future videos.
I felt the test that way I didn't keep the key in the on position
Wym
@@Babyface_____zonly way he could have fail is if he turned off the engine to the truck and didn't turn the key back to the on position for his accessory light to come on before he started the test where you put the vehicle low 1st gear, push in knob for tractor and trailer in let the air settle before stepping the brakes to see if the combination vehicle loses more than 4psi within 1min.
@@Babyface_____zif you going to take the test don't forget to turn that key to on position for accessories because if you don't it's a automatic failure
This is still good as of right now?
We have an updated 2024 version of this video. Check it out here in our channel. Thank you!
he never say anthing about the seat belt
Plz re do this video and post again forgot some stuff
U failed bro ..u forgot your seat belt 😅
Haha
I guess the seat belt is not required for 2023.
Common sense 😂
Hand break you didn't check..
at the end of the video you say if you miss 1 think on the test, you could fail forever.. that's not true
Beep on the truck is super annoying. Couldn’t hewr nothing
Does state matter? And whats he mean u fail forever?😂
This will be the same across all states! As for the "fail forever" thing, just a little exaggerated joke. Thanks for watching!
@@CDLDrivingAcademy 😅😅 you really got me when you said you’ll Gail forever geez had me nervous!! Had to come look for this comment..
Did you just say gas??? This is the second 160 Driving Academy video where the person in the video refers to fuel as gas… “give it a little bit of gas“ The proper term for the pedal on the right is fuel pedal… give it a little bit of fuel.
Actually… since you want to be technical all the books say accelerator… lol
immediate FAIL in NY!
Why ? I thought California was tough. 😮
