I don’t know if I can speak for many other country fans but as a country music fan, I welcome black country music artists to the scene with open arms. When my friend showed me this song I knew it was a hit. Boozey made such a relatable song and I’m so glad it took off like it did. The song feels like it was written by someone just like us, (regular folks.) I don’t know why we haven’t seen as many black country singers but I’m glad to see more and more as being country isn’t exclusive to any race. Hopefully this trend continues!
I respect the commenters I’ve seen but it’s not that a black artist is doing country.. it’s reached global phenomenon status because he blended genres. Story as old as time. It doesn’t always work but this man deserves respect for pulling it off no doubt. Easy idea - extremely difficult execution
