We do not need infra like China. China, unfortunately tried to build in 30 years, what the west had built (on stolen money) over a period of 250-500 years. The massive investments meant a lot of wasteful infra, hundreds of empty trains, empty cities and so on. Worse still, when the investment stopped during COVID and after, their local businesses collapsed as did jobs. They're trying to dig their way out of a mountain of debt (just like Japan did in the 90s). While we should invest heavily in infra, we should be careful we don't repeat the mistakes China made. We can study their model, but critique it to ensure we don't just throw money at a problem. We don't really need hundreds of empty bullet trains going nowhere or to empty cities. We need some connecting large/medium sized cities, but more importantly, we need something to strengthen our supply chains (goods trains). We don't have to copy everything the US, Europe or even China has done. They've only displayed so far that they're wasteful, consume excessively and are all deeply in debt for going overboard with over-investment (and the lack of investment currently is pushing them into recessions). It's good if our investments focus on how to make lives easier or better or make people wealthier OR make doing business easier and cheaper and faster: 1. How do we make lives easier by having lesser private transportation and more public transportation. 2. How do we make buses, trams, tube, metros and all other kinds of transport work on a complementary basis 3. How to cut non-airline travel time and costs across the country so people can potentially commute large distances daily for work (e.g.: 300-500km) 4. How to reduce pollution, garbage, sewage and provide more clean water, fuels for cooking and electricity. 5. How to make public services accessible and easy to use, reduce corruption and make it impossible to indulge in corruption. 6. How to tighten law and order including ensuring the police are sufficient in numbers , well equipped and well trained especially in preventing riots and mob justice. 7. How to give very very strong Primary and Secondary schooling (or if possible university education) which ensures EVERY SINGLE STUDENT gets a strong base in maths, sciences, technology and engineering. 8. What specific infra do we need immediately (in the next 5 years) to attract hitech manufacturing, esp electronics, communication/telecom, defence and space, but also identifying new areas to pioneer. 9. Work with private-public partnerships to see how startups can be encouraged, and how to distribute wealth (not by taxation, but) by getting large corporates to work with medium/small enterprises like the mittlestand model in Germany.

we are building cities which can sustain upto 70-80 years or maybe 100 years (with recurring maintenance). We should start thinking in a direction where we can build infrastructure that stays there for significantly more years. The way we are building our cities right now ... we need to rebuild them again after 100 years. That should be possible with the new R & D in material science. At lease wherever possible use huge rocks for pillar and all so that it does not required to reconstruct after 50 years. It is just a thought but if you look 90% of the things we are building right now will need rebuild after 50 years.

We do not need infra like China. China, unfortunately tried to build in 30 years, what the west had built (on stolen money) over a period of 250-500 years. The massive investments meant a lot of wasteful infra, hundreds of empty trains, empty cities and so on. Worse still, when the investment stopped during COVID and after, their local businesses collapsed as did jobs. They're trying to dig their way out of a mountain of debt (just like Japan did in the 90s).
While we should invest heavily in infra, we should be careful we don't repeat the mistakes China made. We can study their model, but critique it to ensure we don't just throw money at a problem. We don't really need hundreds of empty bullet trains going nowhere or to empty cities. We need some connecting large/medium sized cities, but more importantly, we need something to strengthen our supply chains (goods trains).
We don't have to copy everything the US, Europe or even China has done. They've only displayed so far that they're wasteful, consume excessively and are all deeply in debt for going overboard with over-investment (and the lack of investment currently is pushing them into recessions).
It's good if our investments focus on how to make lives easier or better or make people wealthier OR make doing business easier and cheaper and faster:
1. How do we make lives easier by having lesser private transportation and more public transportation.
2. How do we make buses, trams, tube, metros and all other kinds of transport work on a complementary basis
3. How to cut non-airline travel time and costs across the country so people can potentially commute large distances daily for work (e.g.: 300-500km)
4. How to reduce pollution, garbage, sewage and provide more clean water, fuels for cooking and electricity.
5. How to make public services accessible and easy to use, reduce corruption and make it impossible to indulge in corruption.
6. How to tighten law and order including ensuring the police are sufficient in numbers , well equipped and well trained especially in preventing riots and mob justice.
7. How to give very very strong Primary and Secondary schooling (or if possible university education) which ensures EVERY SINGLE STUDENT gets a strong base in maths, sciences, technology and engineering.
8. What specific infra do we need immediately (in the next 5 years) to attract hitech manufacturing, esp electronics, communication/telecom, defence and space, but also identifying new areas to pioneer.
9. Work with private-public partnerships to see how startups can be encouraged, and how to distribute wealth (not by taxation, but) by getting large corporates to work with medium/small enterprises like the mittlestand model in Germany.
See if we are behind Chinese by 30 years doesn't mean we have no potential or we can give up if we keep this momentum for next 25 years then we might catch up china

India needs infrastructure to support its growing population. People need different means of transport, and connectivity between smaller cities and megacities to reduce everyone moving to large cities, etc etc. India also needs infrastructure development close to our borders to move soldiers etc.
Massive Urban infrastructure is what India should focus on to tackle and accomodate massive urbanization that is taking place and going to take place. Most of budget should go to address that. This cannot be a political issue anymore. Whoever comes must do that.

we are building cities which can sustain upto 70-80 years or maybe 100 years (with recurring maintenance). We should start thinking in a direction where we can build infrastructure that stays there for significantly more years. The way we are building our cities right now ... we need to rebuild them again after 100 years. That should be possible with the new R & D in material science. At lease wherever possible use huge rocks for pillar and all so that it does not required to reconstruct after 50 years. It is just a thought but if you look 90% of the things we are building right now will need rebuild after 50 years.
