I have done the same thing with Tivo and Direct TV boxes here in the US. I strip them down for the capacitors, power transistors and all the screws i can get out of them.

I salvaged the hard drives from two sky boxes but when I plug them into my pc I get the error message “ the request failed due to a fatal device hardware error”. How do I fix this?
