I have done the same thing with Tivo and Direct TV boxes here in the US. I strip them down for the capacitors, power transistors and all the screws i can get out of them.
I salvaged the hard drives from two sky boxes but when I plug them into my pc I get the error message “ the request failed due to a fatal device hardware error”. How do I fix this?
Thanks for a most helpful video, very clear and concise.
So can I keep what I have recorded on the HD? I really want to get a few NFL games and footy matches we went to off on to pc or dvd is it possible??
Thanks for posting. I actually need a spare hard drive :)
Thank you. So informative.
Thanks for watching👍
What can you do with the hard drive. I have removed mine but won’t work as a external hard drive. Can you help?
If I have an old box like this and remove the hard drive and it still has stuff on it, can I watch it or will it have a lock on it?
Brilliant video, I have done the same. Silly but obvious question, what kind of cable do I need to connect the hard drive to my laptop? Thanks.

format them
Replace the drive with an SSD and use it to catch other countries satellites
Good idea
I believed the hype by Sky to upgrade to Sky Q, What a disaster, so much in fact that I've gone back to Sky+ HD
Yes cuz sky still sell sky HD as its best for HDTVs as a 2tb model
Anybody on here no the measurements on the old sky boxes
