  • This summer I traveled throughout Europe with my girlfriend for 50 days, making stops in 18 cities across 7 countries (France, Greece, Italy, Spain, Belgium, The Netherlands, Monaco). I love watching "What I Spend in a Week" videos & you guys have been asking to share what I spent on travel this summer! Hopefully this provides some insight into what a trip like ours across Europe might cost. You can absolutely travel more on a budget, but again this was our trip of a lifetime! I included some travel budget tips/trip planning tips throughout the video, but I can answer any other questions in the comments.

For another budget perspective, I just spent 6 weeks in Europe (7 countries 14 cities) for $5100. Traveling Europe can be done super affordably!! So please don’t think you need to save $25k before you can do a trip like this.

When you think of it divided by two people it's 15 k approx, and then subtracting the flight costs and again for 60 days that's essentially a little over 200 dollars a day, which for someone who wanted to splurge on a trip of a lifetime to remember in their 20's it's totally worth it! congratulations :)❤

Hello everyone, this is a good guide you are planning a luxurious trip. However my partners and I traveled 30 days throughout 13 cities across spain, france, italy and germany and you can make the trip por aforable. For 2 people 30 day including EVERYTHING (and flights) was about 8,000 USD. You do not have to spend soo much money to have a good time, i had an amazing time, ate great food, always had a private room at hostels, it is do-able at a cheaper buget.
For reference we did go to "expensive' cities: rome, naples, pompey, positano, milan, venice, paris, masella, berlin, munich, fussen, barcelona, madrid

I'm a budget traveler, so I found this so interesting to see what the costs of a more luxury travel style would be. Love your transparency and the breakdown of everything. So well done! P.S. I've lived in Mallorca for 4 years and you have to come back. There's soooo much to see and do on the island. But for me, July and August are absolute hell. So I recommend coming back at basically any other time of the year. The water at Cala Llombards is usually complete turquoise water, but in August the algae makes it turn green. Happens every year. So definitely come back! xx

I agree with the majority on here…thank you for the transparency. Something you very rarely ever see with travel videos on here. You have truly helped me a lot because I’m planning on either Greece or the amalfi coast for next year. It’s a bummer that they are on the higher tier of expense. But the same way you guys saved and made it doable that’s exactly how I’m going to approach it as well. I usually pre-plan and save so this will be no different. When it comes to travel it’s always money well spent.Thank you again so very much!!!

I'm so glad it was helpful! For Greece, Paros is definitely my favorite island over Santorini/Mykonos (stay in Naoussa) where there are more affordable hotel options (even at the hotel we stayed at - we just booked the top room). I've also been to Crete and Ios in the past and enjoyed those, and I want to make it to Milos and Naxos one day (probably the least expensive if you're on a budget)! I don't have many budget tips for Amalfi unfortunately. Saving for a long time is definitely the way to go!

I did 76 days in Europe over the summer on a fairly inefficient itinerary - Netherlands, Finland, Portugal, Spain, Croatia and Belgium. Do it while you are young and have that throw away money because as you get older you have more responsibilities which adds up to more money and of course retirement to save for. As someone who traveled Europe a bit this summer I'd say the biggest place you could cut back on is definitely the accommodations! Absolutely no shade to Morgan because the hotels she stayed in look STUNNING and if I could afford it, I'd love to stay in similar ones haha but if you want to cut back on budget definitely consider cheaper accommodations :) there are a lot of hotels and airbnbs that might not break the bank! And we added in Bruges & Amsterdam since they were short train rides from Paris/Epernay since we'd have to fly to Greece next anyway. Basically we did as much as we could in one area before flying to somewhere farther & then doing as much as we could near there.

Some of those hotel prices (especially Greece) were Insane and it didn't look justified. Greece isn't even an expensive country to visit outside of Mykonos but then again you can afford it. The trip seemed amazing and full of experiences.

Thanks for sharing the details and being open! It’s really helpful to see what’s possible. Obviously, every trip can be more or less, but it helps to see an actual budget/spending for a trip like this!

I absolutely love this video. The level detail of every category and place was wonderful. I’ve been trying to plan a trip like this but money planning has been a headache and this video helped a lot.
Side note: I had the same seasickness when I was on the ferry in Greece. It was a horrible and traumatizing experience so I completely understand. 😢😂

The EU is currently smacking the train systems around to make it easier to book trains to go between several countries or they will fix it for them.
Going say from Madrid to Amsterdam wouldn't be a single train, instead it would be several companies, no good way to see the connections, etc. and the EU is kind of getting sick of that.

omg the trains between countries/cities are so cheap. my train tickets going from philly to nyc are the same price for some of those
