Hi 👋🏻 Julia. Good models scales scenes especially for kit bashing 😊Love the widow sills as it makes the buildings come alive 👍🏻 the laser cutting makes an absolute big difference instead of cutting by hand like me 🙁 Happy Christmas 🎄 all the best Stevie 🏴
Hi Jules, just enjoyed this latest offering! What I love about your kitbashes is that they always strike me as being vastly stronger and more convincing than the ‘ordinary’ versions. That Cricut machine actually has a new fan in my Clair, who would like to get one for her crafts too! That’s why I always pester her to look at things because every now and then she sees something she is really drawn to as I lure her into the model railway trap! 😉 Great idea about the welding arc effect. I always love seeing it on layouts as, along with fireplace glow, it throws up light shadows that really does give shadow and light effects that give a model such a greater depth of realism 😎 Some grubby windows and faded yellowish lighting and this will end up another masterpiece mate. How about a couple of cracked panes and maybe a boarded up one where someone got a bit angry with a flying spanner? 🔧 🤣😂😅 Cheers mate, have a great Christmas 🍀🍻👍 🎅
Hi Julian, what a great job of " Kit Bashing", looks fantastic. Hope you have a Merry Christmas and I will look forward to seeing more of your excellent videos in 2023. Cheers Greg form over the ditch.
First class work ýet again, you're truly a master of kit bashing, being able to lazer cut so many base pieces really makes the difference you're attention to detail is extraordinary. Always a pleasure to follow your adventures on your wonderful railway. Keep safe have a brilliant Christmas very best wishes To you and your family, Eddy xx
Thank you Arthur for your very generous feedback. I'm not sure if I would consider myself at the pinnacle of model making, I see modellers out there who are streets ahead of what I'm doing.
Hi Julian - That was an absolutely brilliant update. I love it when you make a building but especially as you used a Scalescenes product. You make it look so easy, but then you have built a few in the past and it is in OO scale. Those walls in the end look really thick but I realise they are only 4mm, but I guess its no different to my N scale one except I use 1mm grey card instead. Going to look great when you have finished it. Regards Chris
That is a solid building. I have made a few Wordsworth Cardboard kits. the first I made I stuck to his guidelines and used a 300 gsm card, The building had no strength to it at all so I filled the inside with strengtheners and it sits square on a base with a wall around it with an entrance for transport and a rail link. From then on I made kits with 1mm or 2mm cards. Merry Christmas to you all. Martin. (Thailand) 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
Yes, Martin I totally agree that for any strength, you need 1mm or 2mm card. The Scalescenes kits actually specify 2mm for thick card and 1mm for medium card in OO scale. I can't remember what they suggest for light card, but I use 240gsm as it's the thickest that will go through my printer so I always have it on hand. If I had a laser cutter I'd use thicker stuff as Julian does, or 2mm plywood. I hope you're not melting up there in Thailand. Adelaide is 37C today.
@@ausfoodgarden 37ºc sounds pretty toasty, and the full swing of summer hasn't even begun. We had 32ºc here a week or so back, about 10ºc above our December average.
Hi Julian. As soon as I heard you say you wanted the doors to open it made me think of TH-camr "Luke Towen" video "Build, Paint and Animate a Working Freight House" from 4 years ago if you haven't seen it go check it out. You make some lovely buildings.
Thanks Michael. I would have asked myself that questions 5 years ago if I was looking at this video. It basically comes down to practice, a few helpful gadgets and plenty of inspiration from the model railway community.
Hi Kenneth, apologies for the slow response to your question. I've recently added a video that features the laser cutter I use (ORTUR Laser Master 2). You may have already seen it by now, but if not here's a link... th-cam.com/video/ARz9HBc0aK0/w-d-xo.html
Julian, thanks for another great video. Having made a few (low number) of this type of model I appreciate how much time they take, most of it preparation so that a good result ensues. How long does the rocket card stay useable on the jam jar?
Thanks Andrew. I think the jam jar does add a little bit of life to the Roket Card glue - possibly gives 10-15mins of usability - depends a bit on the room temp as well.
Just when it was starting to get good! Looking forward to the next video. 👍
Fantastic work

Thanks Martin. 1 and 2mm card is my go-to stock which I buy from a local art store. The card is measured in microns so 1000 and 2000mic respectively.

Julian, thank for your reply. 10-15mins is what I was expecting. But it could have been different with the editing that goes into video
Hi could i ask you what shade of brick it uses
