I've always enjoyed playing on the same side as my kids, and we have quite a few father-son combinations who play regularly. One memorable match saw our team include me, both my sons and also my wife (we were a bit short that week). Attempting to fulfill my role as the more proficient batter I tried to pinch a quick single and ran her out. She was not best pleased at this lack of trust in her ability! She agreed to forgive me so long as we won the match; I was bowling near the end and son no 1 managed to run someone out with a direct hit from long on, and I got lucky, bowling the last man out. So the trip home was rather more harmonious than it might have been. On subsequent occasions I made sure I was batting nowhere near her in the order just in case as I can't afford a divorce!
Lemon watches the ball closely, keeping his eyes peeled. The bowlers put the squeeze on Lemon. We didn't see Lemon slice the ball today. Lemon and Sanderstead were pipped at the post. Say what you like about Lemon, he will usually squash his critics. I remember seeing Lemon bat in light rain - a Lemon drizzle. When Lemon is caught at slip - is that a Lemony Snicket? If the Lemon family provide refreshments - would that be a Lemon tea?

Was he either a Sith Lord or a druid in that cowled jacket? Or was he just a bit chilly? What brand of margarine does Matt Harris smear his gloves with when keeping wicket? His performance behind the stumps evoked the image of an octopus in whites
How was that not out? As the great Geoffrey Boycott once said "it whe' missing off stump, missing leg stump and 'ittin 'alf way up middle" You lot at Sanderstead are good at nailbiters!

Thanks! To be totally honest, a tight finish is a win for us - would much rather lose a close game than hammer someone on a Sunday. Perfect antidote to the Saturday league stuff - and it’s why cricket is the best sport, it’s about so much more than winning!

I really miss them - the 3rd XI league cricket that we have instead is generally full of mismatched ringers (or 1st XI players trying to get back into form) playing against the mixture of the juniors and a few old-timers - not good for either team (though good for some averages).
Whatever you might say Dan , there's never any excuse to have Matt Harris keep wicket. Almost spoilt my enjoyment and you have to think of the viewer and the ratings. Shocking performance. New Sanderstead rule : Matt Harris must never keep wicket. Couple of plumb LBW's there as well. Was the cock o van at the Clubhouse or your house?

Coq au Vin was at home. The main “excuse” for Matt keeping wicket is for comedic value 😂. How often do you see 3 keepers in an innings….
