and here I am, from a country that doesn't know the cold. HATING the heat, the humidity, the sweat. We really need to be more grateful of our own circumstances!
Winter is my FAVORITE time of year! I love the snow and cold. (And up in northern Minnesota, it gets COLD...like, -40*F and colder...) I love to snowshoe, cross-country ski, snowmobile, and ice skate. We have bonfires, go sledding, and build snow forts. Ice fishing is another popular winter sport in our family - it is SO fun being out on the lake! Dressing for the cold is definitely key, and having a thermos of hot chocolate or other warm beverage handy is great! I enjoy this cozy, dark time of year - I feel like my house is cozier and stays cleaner, and I get to bake and crochet and enjoy my indoor hobbies without feeling guilty about "wasting" sunlight.
I’ll say it.. winter is my favorite season 😅 I live in a little mountain town in Utah and yes, it’ll dump 18 inches of snow in one night and I just LOVE it. It’s incredibly beautiful. I love the cozy meals and baking. There’s something about a pot of soup on the stove and bread in the oven with a blizzard outside that just makes me so happy 🤍 I also have 4 little boys and if we do have another baby, I would certainly not be sad if it was another boy. I love being a boy mom! My oldest plays ice hockey so winter is hockey season and traveling for tournaments so that’s really fun. We live within 20 minutes to 3 of the most incredible ski resorts and that’s something I’m really excited to start my kids in as well.
@@alicardon1013 really?? Why sweden? Have you seen Jonna Jintons videos here on YT?:) I can get the snow..but other than that..If you allready live in the snowy mountains..we dont have much more😂
Laura, I live in Miami Florida and we have no winter. We have temperatures in the 80’s whole month of December, I think this year is going to be in the low 60’s 🙌🏻 that is our winter 🫤👎🏻
I live in Canada where winter is a definite part of our year. Getting outside every day-even when it’s -40-is what makes winter more bearable. The fresh air really makes one feel good! Plus, it helps me enjoy the cozy side of winter so much more. Getting to come in and have a cup of tea or wear a warm sweater! Also, finding an outdoor activity you love that helps to keep you warm. I love snowshoeing so if I dress for the weather and get out there, it really takes my mind off the long winter and helps me embrace the beauty of the season.
Since I retired few years ago, I began to dread cold dreary winter months. But past two years I began to plan ahead by not only stocking my pantry & freezer but also purchase a supplies to complete several quilting/sewing/embroidery projects. It reminds me of how our family used to get the kids ready for the school year ahead in late summer. I’m not wishing away the joy o& the holiday season but I can’t wait to begin new handwork & sewing projects. Merry Christmas & wishing you & your family a happy, healthy New Year in 2024!
I really dreaded winter season too throughout my whole twenties. I couldn’t enjoy autumn because the first chill in the air was the beginning of the dread of winter. What changed it for me was actually the timing of my engagement and my wedding. I was engaged late June and married early November. So autumn and winter became wedding planning and honeymoon season. Now I have happy nostalgia when those seasons come around. I really love that it had that effect on my view of the cold seasons because I can be a lot happier during that half of the year (and now the whole year!)
I’m sure there are so many people that dread the winter months. I appreciate your outlook on this season. The time change thing does get to me. Good for you that you allow your kiddos to be outside regardless of how others think. I worked at an elementary school that shared this belief. If it was thirty or above we were outside. The kids loved it. Me? I bought a heavier coat with a hood and began moving around the playground rather than huddling on a bench. It does reinvigorate you to be out there for thirty minutes or so. We do need that sunshine and fresh air. Love watching and learning from you even though I’m sixty-one. We’re never too old to remain teachable! 🙌🏻👍🥰
I love soup/stew season!! And you are so right…our bodies and souls NEED fresh air and sunshine year round. I love bundling up and spending time out in the woods…hunting, bird watching and even just sitting against a tree with the sun on my face breathing in the crisp winter air. (I’m in New England and I was out in 27 degree whether this afternoon) SO vital to our health. This may be my fav video yet! Thanks for keeping it real. Merry Christmas and God Bless! 💚❤️💚❤️❄️☀️❄️
I truly love this video and will rewatch it. I too have been a true lover of Summer the majority of my life. But last year I made an intentional decision to love it. And honestly, it wasn't that hard. It was just a mindset. Winter is so cozy. We do get to make more luxurious meals. Comfort food for dinner and desserts. Planning evening card parties. Aunt using that time wisely to exercise And being in even better shape for the following spring. For the first time, I loved the idea of slowing down. Now I know that can all change real quick, that's why I will be rewatching this video. I love your soup ideas. And I do love cooking for others. I am going to try your sausage kale soup. It sounds like a real winner. God bless you and your family, and your businesses. Keep up the good work, Mama!
I love the changing seasons, the key is to embrace each one. Sometimes in the summer there is so much to do I get overwhelmed. I do get winter seasonal effective disorder, but being out helps a lot. I wait until it gets warmer in the day, then get out whenever I can to be in the sun or go thrifting.
Thank you, I needed this video, because winter is my least favorite season too. We all need to stop wishing our life away! Merry Christmas to you and your family 🎄 and thanks for the wonderful, winter menu ideas!
I'm new to your channel but I am loving it ❤ I'm a mom of 2, and I absolutely love how you cook for your family. Learning so much! The winter months are long but this made me want to appreciate the time I do have inside.
I'm a great grandma that loves all the seasons, however I have to say winter is not my favorite. We live in the country so our kids and grandkids loved being out in the snow. As you said sledding building snow men snow ball fights they love it. The thing I most love to do is feeding the birds. My husband has the feeders where I can see them out the windows. So far I have 14 different varieties. I keep a poster from the conservation department up so I can readily identify them. Have a very Merry Christmas. Love from Missouri
Winter and Fall are my favorite months! Absolutely hate the heat. I love the dark early nights and making stews, soups, roasts, chili, mashed potatoes or roasted. Cozy snowy nights by a fireplace 😊 we walk on the beach in 20 degree weather or snow. So beautiful ❄️ ☃️🎄🌬🌨 Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. P.S. I bought the bread maker, reading the directions. Looking forward to delicious breads 🍞
I find the cooler weather a relief and there’s a certain way of looking when there’s not so much light that can be very soothing and relaxing. I used to dread winter but now it’s a complete reversal
I love the winter... of course this Nana lives in Oklahoma and it's not too wintery! But I love the forced rest... I seem so busy gardening, putting away, that winter allows me cook at a slower pace. I love our no nonsense Christmas, then on to my sewing projects and such as you mentioned as girls do! Thanks for sharing the joys of this season, too! Winter can be the underdog winner....
Merry Christmas! Notice I am calmer in the winter than in warmer months, so just chill out more than usual; with the warm weather and long days, just do more activities! Cook more in the winter, too, it is easier because of the weather; soups are delicious, but making lo-mien, fried rice, and using baked/sauteed veggies for making warm salads its pretty amazing, especially because the oven makes the house warm, such a different vibe than in warmer months
Thank you for sharing, Laura - I agree that (especially when my boys were little) being outside was key! We are live in an area where we definitely get 4 seasons, and I’m so thankful for that!
I enjoyed all these soups! The best thing I enjoy about the winter is the extra time I find to bake bread and soup and cozy nourishing stews. I find I have more time to do some canning as well . Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year 🎊🎆
Merry Christmas! Beautiful video, thank you! I love the peaceful moments you offer me in my day when I get to sit and watch. Everything looked delicious. You and your sister make the best dishes. Y’all make it look effortless, but I know it’s a lot of work what with having big families. God bless both of your families this Christmas season! And, best wishes for a wonderful new year! Sending blessings and love 🙏🏼❤️
Love I found you through your sister. So strong and having all the kiddos. Being amazing woman show off their home births and takes us a long with your pregnancy’s from the beginning! I just love it. You’re so calming and patient. I’ve been binge watching your videos
Try deconstructed cabbage roll soup. Add the rice or not. Same ingredients, just not rolled. It's delicious & a lot less work!! Sprinkle with parmesan cheese at the end. ❤❤❤
I just love your videos!! My little ones are all grown up now and I have 2 2 year old grandkids!! Brings back so many memories ~your life style is so amazing and I pray that for both my grandbabies~calm and peaceful!!!
Winter in NJ can be hard, but I always made sure my children spent a few hours outside exploring the changing seasons, weather (puddle jumping or snow tubing are fun bad weather activities) and made the well rounded explorers as adults. Yes, thank you for soup ideas! I’m baking cookies and decorating a gingerbread house for our Christmas Day snack attack treat. Merry Christmas ❤😊
Thank you...that was a beautiful way to remind us of all the lovely seasons we enjoy. I live in North Carolina. We don't get ssnow very often in Charlotte but when we do it is so much fun. Life STOPS! I love all the seasons also.
I love winter. I call it my season of hibernation. I sleep more and stay in more. I find it necessary. When you think about it, it makes sense. I suggest you embrace it. Enjoy various hot drinks, candles, books, and games by the fire. I raised two boys. I used to say, “Boys are like dogs. You have to take them to the park and run them everyday”. I wish I’d had TH-cam when I was a young mom. I’d get so many amazing dinner ideas from you.
I guess I like summer the best. We are having a wild winter in Tennessee this year. We had two weeks of snow and ice. Our kids missed 8 days of school which is very rare. Now it’s hovering between the 30’s and the 60’s. This was a great video. Many blessings.
You and your sister are my favrorite youtuber ,when i watch your videos , i want to go clean and cook and bake and declutter as fast as i can, can't wait to do all my to doe's😅 I'm from austria ,vorarlberg bregenzerwald❤❤❤
Can totally, totally relate! Great tips! I have to keep a list to reference every winter. Vitamin D3 suppliment is a must! Go outside and get fresh air and light, make a point to be around and conversing with other people, (especially adults), get some exercise, and when depression gets too low I take 5-HTP suppliment which works very quickly (for me at least) but take it with food as it is not water soluble.🤮 5-HTP is an over the counter amino acid. Have a hobby to work on and baking and making soups like you.
I so enjoy watching your family & Lisa's family. What a joy to have a large family, it was only my brother & I but all our friends were from large families. Living in MI I really like having all 4 seasons. I can't imagine having palm trees for xmas.
Merry Christmas Laura! I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday! I think this is great you shared this valuable information. I am watching this with my "Happy Lamp" on that I am trying to be good at using every morning when I wake. I live in Michigan, and because of an acute stroke in 2014 (age 50) my life is more homebound. Also dealing with auto immune problems. Vitamin D levels are so important during the winter months and even a few minutes of sunlight daily.
I run a hot normal. Im in Louisiana, the summers are miserable. Fall/autumn is my favorite season. Always has been since my teens. Im 57 this December 2024. I love the cold too. We go for long drives a lot in the colder months. My husband has a hard tim in the cold. He preferes summer. On our long drives, we'll take new roads, we'll go to new places and historical landmarks and sights, etc, and walk around. Im a history buff of sorts. We love cold winter foods as they're comfort foods. But we gain weight. LOL So we spend the warmer months out doors fishing, more exploring on and off the road, lots of activities to loose weight. Thats when we fall in love with the lighter hot weather foods. LOL
Usually I dread winter, but this winter I’ve been milking my goats and I have zero seasonal affective disorder! My goats force me to get outside two plus times a day!
I just found your channel tonight and enjoyed all of it very much. I’m a great grandma w a wonderful husband & although we have many grands and greats, they don’t live near to us. We miss having frequent in person contact. I have physical limitations which definitely impact what I’m can do. I enjoy cooking from scratch and do as much of that as I can. I could relate to the challenges of the harsher seasons. Well, I just wanted to tell you I enjoyed a glimpse into your family life and all the food prep & cooking you shared. Blessings, Susan
You have such a wonderful outlook on life. You view your family as a blessing and not a chore. I live in the middle of Nebraska and we can have some longer winters as well sometimes. Not a ton of snow but a few snow storms here and there. It is really hard to get outside (I am retired) but I do make it a point to dress warm and get some fresh air and sunshine. One thing you might try with your boys is to put up a tent outside in the winter. We did this as a kid and we pretended like we were in Alaska and had to "survive". We dragged out old blankets, sleeping bags etc. and played in the tent. Although it didn't last too long outside, we thought it was cool to think we were camping in the wilderness in the cold. I love your perspective on the seasons as I love that I live where we see major changes each season. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I could listen to you all day and watch you cook!! Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas!!!
I live in the desert and we look forward to Winter. In Summer we are challenged to do much outside because of the triple digits. But no matter where you live, you make the best of it. Do new things, whatever is appropriate for the season/environment.
So glad I discovered your channel. Love it. I have been watching your sister's channel for some time. And now I can enjoy yours too. Love your video style.
Love you and your sisters videos! Such inspiring mommas ❤ appreciate all your ideas to keep kids busy in winter and all the recipes. Thank you for sharing!
Winter is my "favorite season!" Autumn and Spring are just as good too. We have four seasons way north of Phoenix. Arizonian here that's probably why. 🌵
You’re such a good cook. Yes, your post was long but it went by so fast. I’m in awe of all the lovely recipes that you make. Your sister is the same, such wonderful recipes. Yum. Your little guy is so cute. Since your girl and Lisa’s girls came first in your baby line up, I think you’re both very lucky in that they can help or let’s say more likely to want to help in the kitchen. Some boys I suppose may like to help in the kitchen, but historically they don’t love to hang out in the kitchen unless they’re stuffing themselves. Lol.
I notice in watching these different videos, you use some can foods. Just a little tip be sure to wash off the top of the cans because they have been stored in a warehouse where there are bug of all kinds and even mice. My husband got me doing it, I haven't even thought about it before.
Was wondering if you had a sour dough starter recipe , I have tried to follow others but sometimes they’re very vague. I would like to have a straight forward recipe.
Your TH-cam’s are so comforting! Loved watching this during my “me” time. Thank you!! I hear you about the boys! They always need to be busy or they start to pick on one another 😂 ours are 9 and 8 lol.
I love soups too!! White chicken chili and taco soup are popular here. Our most favorite is buffalo chicken soup. I use the recipe from Salt and Lavender. We love blue cheese so I add lots of crumbled bc, but it’s still delicious without
Hi Laura….in the video you’re wearing what looks like a very comfy dark dress. Would you be mind sharing who makes it and where you bought it from? I’d be interested in looking into it for myself. Thanks 😊
Just curious if the product “Element” has “ natural flavors”? If they do, do you know exactly what that is? Is it chemicals or from a natural resource?
What kind of meat tenderizer was that? Will you add a link? Great video ❤ Summer is my least favorite too hot and busy. Winter is my favorite I’m from Alaska (but moved to nm) fall is my second favorite then comes spring. I was an outside kid so when it’s super hot I stay in and just like you say feel a bit cooped up.
I love your videos. I am wondering about cast iron as I am thinking of getting one, how do you clean yours when you're done cooking in it? How do you keep it well seasoned? Thank you.
and here I am, from a country that doesn't know the cold. HATING the heat, the humidity, the sweat. We really need to be more grateful of our own circumstances!

Awww thank you so much for the kind words!!
Great video. I agree Summer is best. Cooking in Winter is so different and I like that part. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Love that idea!!
I live in the desert and we look forward to Winter. In Summer we are challenged to do much outside because of the triple digits. But no matter where you live, you make the best of it. Do new things, whatever is appropriate for the season/environment.
Thank you for posting so many good soup ideas and inspired to try a playground bundled up!
Loved this Laura! I get so excited on Fridays! Merry Christmas and a Christ filled New Year.
Oh what a GREAT video!!! Loved listening to stories while watching you prepare food! Very zen. ❤😊❤

Makes me hungry watching you fix these wonderful meals....Merry Christmas ~!
I love your mixing bowl set! So pretty! What is the tenderizer that you use? Being a mother really is the best most fun and joyous experience.
I love the winter!
I love this video so peaceful and calming in this hectic time.
Silver Dollar City at Christmas is beautiful!!! Musicals are fabulous!!!
You're doing such a great job !!!Blessings that won't return void 💝💝💝💝💝💝
I love winter but we don’t get snow like when I was a kid.
I look forward to change of seasons!🍁☃️💐🌞
I enjoy the difference in the change of temps!
Thanks for inspiration of foods & activity for winter.🫶🏻
Lol.
Love all your soups 💝 winter is often difficult in the pacific northwest rain...love the cozy satisfaction of soup. Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas!!!
Your soup and breads look so delicious. That’s my favorite meal all winter long also ❤
Mine too! 🥰
I loved this video! Your meals look fabulous and you are precious to listen to! I feel like you are reading my mind about winter ❤
Thank you so much!!
Loved all the rambling! Thanks for an inside look
I just you and your Sister and your videos, I look forward to them every week, Merry Christmas 🎄
All the best you end your family!❤
I notice in watching these different videos, you use some can foods. Just a little tip be sure to wash off the top of the cans because they have been stored in a warehouse where there are bug of all kinds and even mice. My husband got me doing it, I haven't even thought about it before.
Your food always looks so delicious!
God bless!
Thank you so much!
Your videos are so relaxing ❤
Thank you!! Glad you like them!
Praying y’all have a blessed Christmas
Was wondering if you had a sour dough starter recipe , I have tried to follow others but sometimes they’re very vague. I would like to have a straight forward recipe.
Thank you for this video I really enjoyed watching. I pray you and your precious family have a blessed Christmas filled with joy.
Is there a bigger pot of chili? Just wondering since you are hosting more people
Could you link your deep wooden ladle? Thanks for sharing you great ideas❤
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL
Wonderful video! Merry Christmas Laura 🎄🎄🎄
Loved hearing your thoughts on parenting. ❤
Your TH-cam’s are so comforting! Loved watching this during my “me” time. Thank you!! I hear you about the boys! They always need to be busy or they start to pick on one another 😂 ours are 9 and 8 lol.
I'm so glad! I have a 9 and 8 too!
Why do you keep your onions in refrigerator? I’ve always understood that onions and potatoes aren’t to be refrigerated.
@janiebea100 I read somewhere keeping your onions in the fridge keeps your eyes from watering when you cut them.
This was so encouraging to me, thank you❤
Laura,
One thing about Winter I enjoy is having a hot cup of herbal tea at night with honey and lemon ❤
Looks yummy ❤
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas 🎄 and God bless your New Year 💫
Love your videos. Where did you get your wooden spoon you used in this? I’ve been trying to find one like that for a while
Merry Christmas to you and your family☃️
Love your recipes ❤ Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas, Laura.🎄
Great video! Merry Christmas Laura!🎄🎄🎄
I love soups too!! White chicken chili and taco soup are popular here. Our most favorite is buffalo chicken soup. I use the recipe from Salt and Lavender. We love blue cheese so I add lots of crumbled bc, but it’s still delicious without
Ohhhh I am going to try those!!
Blessed Christmas
Hi I love your channel and would like to know if you now ship to California you beef/Chicken/pork? Can you please send me your link?
I have her link in the description box and you can check!
What kind of bowls do you have and where do I buy them ?
Hi Laura….in the video you’re wearing what looks like a very comfy dark dress. Would you be mind sharing who makes it and where you bought it from? I’d be interested in looking into it for myself. Thanks 😊
Just curious if the product “Element” has “ natural flavors”? If they do, do you know exactly what that is? Is it chemicals or from a natural resource?
What kind of meat tenderizer was that? Will you add a link?
Great video ❤
Summer is my least favorite too hot and busy.
Thank you.
