Years ago I had my husband take out the dishwasher also. I never used it. I used it for storage!! I needed the extra space because our house is small. I have never missed it!! I've always enjoyed washing dishes by hand & I let them air dry. You go girl!! I really enjoy your channel!! Thank you & God bless!!😊😊
I never used mine after it broke. I cleaned the inside good and used it for junk food. My young son impressed his friends when he opened it. It was funny. Nice place to store crackers, popcorn etc. 😃
I'm not a fan of dishwashers either. We recently bought a house that was built in the 40's and obviously there wasn't a dishwasher. No big deal for me, but I can't tell u HOW many people have encouraged me to get one put in. Time and time again. But, tbh I'd much rather do it by hand anyways. Love your channel!
I'm an empty nester so I don't use our dishwasher since it is only my husband and I and I don't mind washing dishes by hand. We never had a dishwasher growing up. I admire you for taking yours out to utilize your space better. QUESTION: if you ever build a new home, will you have a gas stove or are you used to cooking on an electric stove so will keep it electric??? How wonderful that your parents and family could take a trip to Colorado. I live here in the middle of Nebraska and have skied CO many times and have family living in CO. Sometime I think it would be awesome to meet your parents and have a Q & A with them as they certainly raised beautiful daughters (not sure if you have brothers but if so, they are no doubt as wonderful as you and your sisters are). Was your mother as resourceful and as great of a homemaker as you are?? Thank you for sharing your soup idea...it looks wonderful!! Blessings on your family!!!
Its so nice to know that you went on a holiday with your family. Your house looks so pretty with the changes you're making. So pratical about the removal of your dishwasher and that now you have easy excess to your flours and mill. 😊
It melted my heart that your family all helped each other on that trip. And especially accommodating your sister’s allergy. Both myself and my son have some food sensitivities and my family acts so put out and insulted by it. I have to prepare and bring all of our food along for gatherings. It’s exhausting. I love the kitchen updates - game changers!
I love it that you found something useful for that deadspace. I on the other hand can't seem to go without a dishwasher. Interesting how different people are and yet I love watching your videos.
I don’t have a dishwasher now and when I did, I never used. I feel like I can get the dishes cleaner and in less time washing by hand. Now you have more storage. Love the plants in the window!!
What a calm and relaxing and comforting start to your week. And all of these come through clearly and make a nice addition to my morning. Thank you, sincerely.
I've noticed over the past couple years of being a full time homemaker that I get excited to go home after time away. And it's mostly because I love cooking and making bread for my family. What a blessing to love your life's calling! 💙
Lara, u are such an inspiration of how a Christian homemaker should be . Such a hard worker around yr home and for yr family and in essence this is a perfect example of who YaH has made us to be . So u are serving Him as well HallaluiYah 🙌Thank u for sharing yr God given womanly job with us . Yr a true inspiration and a glourious example for this world. Blessings and Shalom to u and yr beautiful and wonderful family. ❤
If I’m driving to where I’m traveling I bring along a kitchen box with me because the kitchens of Air Bnb’s are never well equipped. It’s just a heavy duty plastic tote with all the important things I will need for cooking; 3 cast iron skillets (#8, #5, #3) and a small cast iron griddle, cutting board, good knives, whisk, spatulas, other cooking utensils, measuring cups, foil, baggies, dish rags, pot holders, travel size spices and salt and pepper. I’m sure there’s more in the box but you get the idea. These items are dedicated for traveling so I’m not taking stuff out of my kitchen for the trip. It’s a game changer for traveling and it’s not a huge box so it doesn’t take up much space in the car.
Your husband is very strong lifting up and taking out that dishwasher all by himself! I love the look of the small lamps on your countertops it adds a softness to the kitchen that you can't get with overhead lights.
I am watching one of your videos for the first time. In the final shot, you have a plate with cheese on it. I had to go back and watch it again to be sure but it is the exact same plate design that I had for years in Alaska. It made me smile.
Whenever you tell about your sisters it literally warms up my heart since l have 2 sisters and l know the value of sisterhood, the way we support eachother and everything. Hope you had the best time in your trip. Lots of love from Turkey.
Love your videos! I'm a busy working mom, currently in nursing school. However I am a homemaker at heart. I love gardening, canning, making sourdough etc. I splurged and purchased the bread maker like yours and it has been life changing! I love it 😀
That made me laugh!! My kids (all 3 adults in their early thirties) all threaten to steal my very beautiful, rather high end dishwasher because it DO use it…….the top rack pulled out and used as a drying rack as I hand wash all of my dishes. I do create quite a few because I,too, am a scratch cook, gardener, preserver, and I love making all of our baked goods, bread products, noodles, pasta (in all forms….my favorite) and desserts:) The kids just think it’s crazy:)
I love your swing arm lamp! Everything comes across to me as very cozy and comforting in your home. Have a wonderful vacation and thank you for sharing your days with us. ❤
We took out our dishwasher for the same reason!! I’ve been trying to figure out what to do with the space. I was thinking shelving but this is a great idea too!
I agree with you regarding the dishwasher. I had 8 children and the dishwasher was useless. Either too much and I would wind up washing dishes, or not enough to bother with and my kitchen was always in a state of mess. Dishwasher gone made less mess for me. Washing up as I went is so much easier and neater.
I can understand that you don’t use your dishwasher but I would be so lost without mine !!!! But you found a way to make that space work for you !!!!! Great job!!! Glad you had a wonderful vacation!!!!
I love what you did in place of the dishwasher! it looks adorable! I am sure you will get some negative comments, but as one who grew up without a dishwasher (Mom got one when I left home) and got one as a gift after my 3rd child, I still think they are overrated. I have been in my current home for 7 years in July. I have NEVER used the dishwasher.😆😆 I love hand washing dishes and find it so much easier. Hope you had a nice time on your trip!
I just love watching you cook. You are a cleaning fool like me !! lol The dish rag is your best friend. 😂 And you peel veggies like I do ! Most people I see bring the peeler towards them. I do it like you do. Downward. Just like my Mom. You know I just saw an advertisement for Pella (Tulip festival) It made me think of you coming here with your daughter. You know I’ve lived in Iowa the majority of my 59 years and only been to Pella’s festival once. They use to have a city ordinance where you weren’t allowed to mow your yard on Sundays. Keep things quiet on the Lords day. I thought that was really nice. Thanks for the video :)
I love to watch you cook! You make it look so effortless! I don't make much from scratch because it always involves recipes and (to me) so much mental thought. I wish I knew the basics of throwing different meals together by using what you have on hand like you did your soup. I would sure love to see more videos about that, throwing things together that go together! TY! (I probably sound pretty dumb knowing so little about cooking but it's just something I've never been able to "get" )
I've been a homemaker for almost 20 years now and we never owned a dishwasher. Though my husband really misses it. In our renovated kitchen there most likely will be one in it but if you keep on top of the dishes it not that much work. Even if we would have one I still will wash the small things I use during the day; I need to because I'm not buying extra dushes and such because suddenly we have to wait until the washer is full enough to run and I'm definitely not running the thing for just a couple of plates.
I love your new curtains and plants. You have such a nice kitchen. i have several questions. 1. Does your younger sister have a TH-cam channel? 2. How did you get all of your meals to Colorado, on the plane? Did you take coolers along and check them on the plane? I'm glad your family got to go on this trip. Sounds so fun!
I love the new kitchen curtain it’s really cute the ties at the top. The plants are really pretty too in the window. I don’t use my dishwasher much anymore either it’s just two of us and it’s easy to wash up after a meal. All the meals you made looked wonderful…
My mom used to boil the milk when it was close to going sour and then put it back in the jars to cool & refrigerate. She could extend its life this way.
😂 I always think about taking my dish washer out for MORREEEEstorage😂 I get it!!!!!😊 😂 yes to my family not wanting more soup but I LOVE serving soup lol
Glad I'm not the only one who could do without a dishwasher :) I always feel like I've almost washed my dishes while rinsing before I put them in the dishwasher. I think why didn't I just add dishsoap and then they would just be done?! Love your videos!
I never use the dishwasher either. I feel it never cleans the dishes well. I will be removing the dishwasher shortly and will be adding roll out shelves that will fit perfectly in the space:)
I wanted to get rid of our dishwasher cause I don't mind handwashing and our kitchen is SO small!! My husband talked me out of it, and I still use it... but if it ever dies, I'm doing the same thing you did! 😂 The curtains look great!
I’m so happy for you escaping on vacation - Good for your mental health! Yes, soup, must make a chicken soup today to go with the loaf of bread that’s gone stale. So yummy!
Your recipes/meals always look so yummy! I love soups too, they're filling and so tasty, and so many different kinds to make! Glad you enjoyed your trip! Thanks for sharing😊
I’ve been doing exclusive fresh milled flour for 6+ months and it’s been a steep learning curve. Please please share your secret in doing a sourdough loaf in your bread machine!
I haven’t had a dishwasher in 4m and would love the extra space but I actually miss the dishwasher. Do you wash and put them away right away or do you have a drying rack. my drying rack currently is my cooling rack.
When I was a kid, my brother and I washed dishes every night for all eight of us. I would have killed for a dishwasher and really don’t understand not wanting one. As an adult I like the way the dishwasher holds the dirty snack and dirty glasses rather than have the dirty dishes sitting in the sink.
I just don't understand why people won't use a dish washer! There is no way that you can kill germs by hand the way you can when a dish washer uses only hot water. I washed dishes for the county school system one year and it was mandatory that we use the dish washer in order to sanitize the dishes. I just think it's unsanitary to do dishes by hand!

My sis in law uses her broken dish washer for lid storage for pots n pans. lol
@karinjudge7277 my grandmother used it to store snackcakes and cookies. It was our go to spot for goodies😂
Your kitchen window with the new curtains and the small plants looks so pretty.

Love what you did to replace the dishwasher space! Washing dishes by hand is therapeutic..
I love to watch you and your sister cook, it gives me so much inspiration to do the same! Thank you for sharing ❤
Awww thank you so much!!!

Your husband is very strong lifting up and taking out that dishwasher all by himself! I love the look of the small lamps on your countertops it adds a softness to the kitchen that you can't get with overhead lights.
Dishwashers are bulky but usually not heavy. 😊 I could move ours by myself when we switched it out for a new one when the old one died.
I am watching one of your videos for the first time. In the final shot, you have a plate with cheese on it. I had to go back and watch it again to be sure but it is the exact same plate design that I had for years in Alaska. It made me smile.
We took out our dishwasher for a while and used the space with cushioned baskets and a curtain for our dogs and cats. They loved it.
Whenever you tell about your sisters it literally warms up my heart since l have 2 sisters and l know the value of sisterhood, the way we support eachother and everything. Hope you had the best time in your trip. Lots of love from Turkey.
Friend I find your voice so chill, you got that raspy comforting voice. Like being with my grandma or mama. I feel so at home here, thank you ❤

Getting rid of the dishwasher?! You are a glutton for punishment. Why?!!
