Was given this by John’rasta’, caretaker at Smuts Hall 80s-2015, UCT, WA, SA. In liquid form, after boiling/brewing as a tea, then concentrated and given in recycled coke cola bottle in a thick syrup…. whilst a zol of dakka was passed around and Lucky Dube played… Taken as a shot or diluted into a pint or tea with honey. This herb didn’t just relax me, its cured and relieved my lifelong asthma and hey fever and all other related aliments. Struggled to find since I graduated and moved back to the UK. Ek is ’n soutpiel… Greek mountain tea, ironwort works ok but not a patch on this. The Afrikaans name for it by the Rasta in the Cape Flats, Standberg ways was “Orxy” or something like that man. Dankie Gus, ek se ja lekker o. Ngiyabonga.
Hello. I have this plant in my land (southwest of France) . It grows very easely. Much easier than artimesia annua. Thanks for S.A to provide us his treasures.
I watched your video about a month a go to edicate myself about this wonder plant. I bought 6 artemisia afra plants from a local gardener. Today, just after a few minutes of sniffing its leaves, my blocked nose is fully cleared! I was doubtful, but it worked like a miracle
Hi we have this plant growing on the farm and one in the garden. I am very interested in using it in deworming of sheep any ideas how? There is a lot of resistance showing up to the main stream doses that are on the market.
Artemisia absinthium is said to kill cancer cells by stoping the iron absorption of the cancer cells. It's also good for the treatment of yeast infections (Kills Candida), the treatment of SIBO (Small intestine bacterial overgrowth) and great for MRSA (Staff infections)
I bought mine today R79 at the nearest nursery. So I'm chewing 1 5:50 leaf swallow the juice and spit the fibre. For today I took 2 of those leafs. So I'm taking it twice a day. If I'm overdoing it,please let me know
I'm from South Africa and this plant was a very well loved and familiar plant in your garden .it was basically used for most ailments 😂 amongst the coloured community.l remember asking my mom when l was much younger around 10 years old what's this plant was good for as she had stomach cramps and she replied...Als is goed Vir Alles...no particular ailment was mentioned..
I couldn't answer that as there are so many factors that would affect dosage. If the plant was harvested fresh or dry, when it was harvested, how long since the harvest, how quickly the harvested material had been put into capsules etc. All of these factors would influence efficacy. The good news is that there are very few known toxicological issues with this plant. I would suggest trying it as a tea first and seeing if it is effective like that. Add honey to make it palatable, otherwise it will be too bitter to consume!
Not sure about the hybrid idea but I'm pretty sure they have tried. There is a great doccie about a guy in Kenya who tried to get this plant into a better acceptance medically as the cure for malaria. I cannot recall the name of the program but it was really interesting and the pharma route is to extract the artemesin (?) which doesn't seem to kill all the malaria parasites like the entire herb as a tea does (in a nutshell, layman words)
Hi Gus, sorry to bother you. I have a request, and only you can do it on TH-cam. Kindly do a video on that tree that squeezes other trees a climber. It has milk which is used as glue, and is poisonous. When you meet it It can look like a giant snake has curled itself around a tree. Please I think a lot of people don't know about it.
Hi Gus! Thanks for another very informative video. Down here in South Africa it is called Umhlonyane (Zulu) and Lengana (Sotho).
Great to know that, thanks for sharing!
@@AfricanPlantHunter The Ndebele people probably call it umhlonyane too.

There are capsules available with annual and afra mixed together. Try any health shop.
