The best advice I can give you Win is to do a test piece before you commit to the whole thing whatever you use. Also be realistic about your own expectations of the finished result before you start, if it looks as good or better than you thought it would leave be don’t try to achieve professional standards we have to be jack of all trades in our situation. hi steve i done my rolls wood in 2 pack acrylic lacquer 7 coats rub down in between coats last coat use rubbing down compound then t cut look like new doing my mk 2 daimler v8 up now like videos cheers dan.
I was going to try something similar on the dashboard to see what’s underneath all the previous coats of varnish that have been applied over the years 👍

I dissolved off the old varnish with red spirts and that let me keep the veneer.
