i hv been so so so so lost in the first 2 wks of clinical rotations in my Y3.. like so lost within the hospital, don't know what to tag to, everyone is so busy... and pt refuse for an exam etc etc i hv been so lost so drained........... even wanna quit gosh
Hi Natalie!! First of all I just want to say that it is totally understandable how you are feeling overwhelmed by the shift to clinical rotations. Just remember that you're not the only one feeling that way. Do you have a timetable that you can follow or placement friends/partners? I think the best way to adjust is to have a fellow placement partner to go round to get used to where you are, what you can do etc. I understand that a lot of the staff are busy due the high demand/understaffing so please don't take it personally if someone isn't proactively trying to help you. It's going to take time and is something that I even find challenging now but the best way is to ask the doctors on the ward whether there's anything you can do to help/if there are patients who are willing to be examined/take a history etc. If you ask you will definitely be able to find things to do and learn on the wards. Having said that, if you're standing around for hours and being ignored by staff just go to the library or something to study then go back another time. I hope this helps and you've got this!!!
