If you are in 30% bracket..your already paid 30% by the time you receive your salary on hand. Then if you want to buy a car for example your pay another 28% on already deducted amount, similarly each and every product has GST, then pay road tax , for petrol you pay 60% in tax itself.

Do you really earn more than 15.75 lakhs? 😂 😂 Your comment is not based on facts. People earning upto 15.75 lakhs will have to pay only 1,45,600 as tax including cess. Which is only 9.25% of 15.75 lakhs. Also, average you pay only 15% GST. You dont pay gst on house rent. Except house rent, you may spend a max of 70k per month. Which is 8.4 lakhs per year. 15% of that is 1,26,000. And this is just 8% of your total income. So in total you only pay 17.25% as taxes. Get your numbers right 😂😂😂😂 50%? 😂😂😂.

Inflation in P Chidhbaram’s time was in double digit, corruption was at it’s peak, taxation was so complicated, fiscal deficit was huge, now inflation is in single digit, fiscal deficit is decreasing rapidly, we have highest foreign reserves so in my opinion everything may not be perfect because it’s India but we are at a much better position than the previous govt.

I am a salaried person, fall in the IT bracket. I do not have any agricultural income or other sources. After paying my children's education loans and other EMI, I will not have any bank balance! I am totally fedup with the system that taxes only people like me, whereas many practicing doctors, auditors and businessmen, real estate players, big farmers etc escape paying no income tax. Can't expect any change in this worst and faulty system

I don't know how right she is. Regarding income tax, she's mentioning that tax rates are lesser and simpler in new tax regime compared to older one which is true but then again, with deductions old one still becomes better in most cases. But the real issue here is that why did they increase LTCG, STCG and remove indexation benefits?

1) Salaried Tax (slabs as India, even higher)
2) Social security (Employers pays 40% of gross salary, 20% - 23% by employee)
So what we pay is in no comparison to Europe tax, we pay way way less.

Sad part is there's no change after 2014 aswell. The raising inflation, moving common products under luxury, squeezing taxes from every possible transaction with no benefits to the honest tax payers/ salaries employees without proper retirement benefits and huge raise in health, education rates, what not. 2% of people are paying 19% of total revenue. This talks about what is it how is it after 2014. Contributing the development of the nation blah, blah won't work all the time. We are working and paying taxes without availing any benefits from state or central govt and it goes to some people who are so called BPL just because they are not paying income tax. 1st govt should try to bring more people under income tax which increaes their income instead they are encouraging black money by increasing the capital gain tax on stocks, long term and short term by removing indexing cost and milking money. Now people start showing the selling price as less and convert most of it to black. More black money more wealth to the so called realestate people. Thanks to the NDA govt. A common man like me can understand the cycle but Harvard returnees won't.

They've been charging on Real estate as well, indirect tax is at it's peak & more than many developed countries. The day these politicians are treated as normal citizens is the day they get a reality check of low class facilities this country is providing to normal tax paying citizens.
This is the punishment we get for not burning buses, not blocking roads destroying public property, and being good citizens. I failed to understand how she could keep that confident face even though realizing that they were doing something terribly wrong. In my good times, They collect more than half of my income as direct and indirect tax, but during my bad times, no policies support us. Income tax hunt of people who do tax theft, but the government is the tax robber and there is no one to fix that.

The question wasn't on GST ...it is about the disparity amongst economic groups ....why are the rich not taxed enough and get off by representing loss in business and using other tactics
Also another major point being what is the middle class receiving in exchange for these taxes....
1. No proper public transport connectivity except for metro cities
2. No health related benefits or insurance... condition of government hospitals are pathetic
3. No security of housing due to rising rates
And infact the most miserable
4. Inability to afford basic amenities due to inflation...(Unemployment and wage stagnation continues)

I used to feel proud that i pay taxes, but later when i realised only 1.5% of the population pay taxes, i feel terrible 😔. Why only 1.5% salaried people have to pay taxes ? What about others who earn lakhs of money illegally and not pay any income tax 😢 this is injustice!!!!
You don't pay tax because you choose to but rather you have to. Most of the population thinks in that manner. If more and more people participate in tax game then tax rate can be lowered...
