    I built a bending/adjusting tool for the knotters. It was about three feet long. It was used to bend the knife arm to specs. I got the dimensions from NH during my class there. It worked well during my years making service calls on balers.

    We have a 509 ford bailer and having trouble with it not tieing the twine. The right side does but not the left side. Where did you get your Manuel ?
    I think it maybe out of time but not sure how to time it. I’ll check it again after watching your video. Thank you for the video.

    It's possible, but sometimes there are minor differences that'll keep them from interchanging. I don't have any experience with Deutz machines.

    i have a New Holland 320 square baler (wire) and am having two problems. First, the last time i used the baler it produced erratic bale lengths. it would sometimes produce double bales. the other problem is that i have having trouble re-routing wire for the baler. the manual states that the final thing to do after routing wire from the box thru the baler is to "tie the wire to the reinforcing band directly behind the left (right) hand needle. it's not clear to me where this is. thanks

    hi, i have a nh 315 and a problem i am having is, after the knotters tie, the string gets wrapped around the one bill hook and dosent slid off. It dosent do it all the time. I had heard to just polish the bill hook so it was more smooth, but i dont think that is the solution.

    I have a Deutz HD 490 that needs your help! Looks like the same knotter exactly... Deutz no longer has the parts, wonder if they are the same???

    Haveing problems. Bailer wont tie a knot. I have a knot on top twin but not bottom twine. Took a video and the second twine, does not spin around with the bail hook. Keeps jumping off the bail hook when it spins.

    I have never seen a wire tie baler in person, but I'm wondering if the metering wheel is slipping on the knotter trip arm. I had that issue on mine. There is an adjustment slot for the metering wheel. It may need to be moved forward. As far as the wire goes, I don't know. I tie my twine off to the needle carriage near the pivot point at the frame.

    Make sure the scraper blade on the knife it making good contact with the bill hook. If that doesn't help, file down the lip on the bill hook arm (the part that moves) so the twine doesn't hang up.

    I have a NH268 and one side is cutting the string just a little shorter, only leaving about 1\4" and several bales are popping. Is there a way to adjust it so the cutter leaves 1\2"? Thanks

    • @farmboy30117
      @farmboy30117  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm assuming you're talking about the knot tails. You should be able to bend the knife a little to make it cut further away. The only other thing is be careful not to bend the knife housing too much to mess up the scraper to bill hook clearance.

    • @joekeriskroch1337
      @joekeriskroch1337 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@farmboy30117 Correct, the knot tails. I'm guessing that it won't need much of a bend to gain a 1\4". Thanks for the help and super fast response. I'll let you know.

    I have a new holland 310 baler. It will not tie right on one side. It may bale 5 miss one. Sometimes better, sometimes worse. It seems like it is not cleaning the twine. The twine knots up and you will have two strands trying to come out on the same side. Help?

    hey what did that finger lever spring attach to behind your knotters? I have a 273 and needed to do some work pulled it off and forgot where it attached... btw great videos used you as a reference several times

    • @farmboy30117
      @farmboy30117  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe it just attaches from the lever to the knotter frame. I'll double check next time I'm around it. Thanks!

    Hi i have a new Holland super 69 with Hydraulic tensioner the problem i am having is the string gets caught on bill hook after it knots it there is a slight bit of rust on hook, also the ends of bale are coming out longer than the other, its as if the sting on one side is pulling harder than the other

    • @farmboy30117
      @farmboy30117  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Be sure the wiper on the knife arm is sliding against the bill hook to pull the twine out. Not familiar with hydraulic tensioners, but I have seen bales like that when more was fed to inside or the outside of the bale chamber due to narrow windrows. Could be your tensioners are not applying equal tension also.

    I have a 269 baler an I'm having trouble with the knotter, every 5-6 baler it skips 1
    Is it just to worn down? I don't have any problem with the twine balling up in the holder

    • @farmboy30117

      Mark, there are so many things that could be causing this that I couldn't possibly list them all. New Holland printed a manual on baler knotters that you may be able to find online or on eBay. Here's a link to one on eBay right now:www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-New-Holland-Baler-Knotter-Service-Manual-Repair-Standard-Heavy-Duty-FAST-/222187054596?hash=item33bb616604:g:xkAAAOSwhOVXctkxI have this booklet and it has a lot of good info on setting up knotters. Hope this helps.

    How do i adjust the needles on a 273 new holland

    • @farmboy30117
      @farmboy30117  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are two bolts on the needle where it attaches to the cradle. One bolt allows for up and down movement and the other allows for side to side movement. It's kind of a trial and error deal for me to get them adjusted.
