  • Twelve O'Clock High is an American drama series set in World War II. This TV series originally broadcast on ABC-TV for two-and-one-half TV seasons from September 18, 1964, through January 13, 1967; was based on the motion picture Twelve O'Clock High (1949).

      I tell you another series that I watch from time to time is the B/W Fugitive shows. Also Quinn MArtin production. I just like the way they are laid out. So cool with the epilogue at the end, I never tire of them

    One of the best episodes. Lots of suspense and intriguing situations. Nice to see a pre-fab all-star cast too! I guess that obviously added to why it was among the finest in the series. What a lucky director.

      Bruce was Dennis Hoppers good buddy. Can you imagine partying with those two knuckleheads! I think Bruce wasnt used to the max. Bruce was a great. bad guy in Gunsmoke too.

    When we borrowed bits (was in RAF many years ago) from another aircraft (robbing), we use to call the aircraft a Christmas Tree as it was giving us presents!

      How did already von Grimelshausen did write in his novel Simplicus Simplicisimus ( 1669) SOLDIERS STEAL; OFFICERS ORGANISE ( direct quote from the book ) - the novel described the life of a young man in the Thirty Year´s War in Germany. It belongs to the works called WORLD LITERAUTRE
      In a way Forrest Gump always reminded me at this old classic.

    Wow!! Great episode I will put it in my top 5. This and the one with Shatner are two of my favorites. I mean look at this, Burt Reynolds, Bruce Dern (of Gunsmoke fame) How can you miss? THey should have used Bruce a lot more. I also really like the B/W episodes.

    Since when does a bomber pilot just jump into a P51 without a check out........unrealistic drama.......never the less I m watching and enjoying it all over again since childhood

      It was stated in an earlier episode that the colonel had begun his flying career in P51.

    Example of a good opportunity to work on operational security measures and improve on them. The system should have already been in place to prevent such hijacking of a military bomber fully loaded!

      Some of the shots were of an A-36. Note the Allison engine and four 20mm cannon.

    They're using two different models of the P 51 in the plane chase scene, the earlier B model and the later D model.

      Look at the Canopies on both of the aircraft the B models had frame canopy while the D models had the bubble canopy.

    Actually, it's a P51A, not B. The long fuselage gives it away. The B model was a foot and a half shorter with a shorter wingspan because of aerodynamic overcompensation in yawl control

    Not only did they use footage of both the P-51 B and D models during the chase scene, but when Burt Reynolds opens fire from the top turret it is a P-39 Airacobra that veers away.

    The plane The colonel was flying looked like the A-36 Apache the forrunner of the P-51.

      The A-36 had dive brakes on top and under wings which were not present on the P-51. I did not see these in the films but maybe they just did not show up u7nder low res.

    At 25:25 when he pulled the throttle back I'm not sure if that was 2 or 3 engine he cut power on, but number 1 spooled down.

    How the hell does Gallagher fly two models of P51 at the same time and in different liveries? There is no way they would get away with such poor production standards these days. They really let down the actors and script writers.

      They only had one flyable B-17 for the whole series.

    What neutral country did the aircraft land. Could only be Ireland and that's on the west side of England. The other would be Spain and that's highly unlikely under Franco.

    I am only watching this episode of season 2 because of the guest stars. Andrew Prine, Bruce Dern, Burt Reynolds & Peter Mark Richman. Then I am done with this great show. Paul Burke my ass.
