Welcome back to Show Splatter. For the channel today, we are going to figure out The REAL reason Good Girls was cancelled! Last May 2021,there were hopes that NBC might give the drama, comedy TV series Good Girls an extension.
But it turns out to be just another false hope. As the hit bubble series has not been renewed for another season, and was eventually cancelled. The reason? Of course, it is all about the money. Check this video out as we are going to feature The REAL reason Good Girls was cancelled!

This is one of my favorite shows I hate that they always cancel the good ones
It always makes me mad when shows are dumped due to $$$. We get to know the characters and love them. Shame on all of you for forgetting fans. Oh, BTW, Manny "Rio", could have been replaced. So let's all say it. Thanks Manny 🤬

Team Rio all the way! His character was EVERYTHING ! The absolute best part of the entire show was Manny Montana's acting & knowing how off their chemistry was off screen was is only more evidence this man brought it. Beth was just Beth there's many Beths only one Rio & only one person could ever bring the depth & intensity of this character the way he did. 💕Manny Montana 💕💕💕

Christina been known as a diva and using passive aggression on the upcoming stars. Manny wasn’t having non of it and stuck it on her. And she thought she could continue the series without him which the producers said saw hell naw

Wrong. The story is that, while the three actresses agreed to take pay cuts, Manny (or his agent) allegedly refused. Hendricks was trying to keep the show going, which suffered from middling ratings sometimes. I loved it and wanted the fifth season to happen. And please quit saying "hell naw."

@@Scorchy666 I don’t think I’d blame Manny (or his agent) for refusing a pay cut. His role probably paid less than the Girls already. And let’s not forget he carried the show on his back. So in that scenario, I’d be livid as an actor/agent 😂. The fallout was definitely a mix of both finances & work politics. :)

Her character is better I'm guessing, she thinks. Sad

Except it's much worse in the case of SATC. On Good Girls Rio and Beth weren't ever friendly. They distrusted each other greatly and were outright enemies at times. So it was probably actually helpful that the actors weren't friends. But Sex and the City... episode after episode of acting like you're best friends? Lots of people don't get along at work, but they can mostly just avoid each other. But when the whole job is acting like you're the best of friends with people you don't like? Must be soul-crushing.
@@automnejoy5308 this!!! i think their relationship irl actually likely helped the plot of good girls, maybe didnt make the actors the most comfortable but acting isnt supposed to be easy or comfortable. wish they couldve stuck it through for at least one more season with an actual ending. ill never stop thinking about this show.
@@cru1743 Yeah, it really is a shame it couldn't have ended properly. So frustrating. It's awful to do that to the audience, but also to everyone involved with the production. They put so much work into the show, and it doesn't get an ending. Terrible.

No they didn't like each other but their on-screen chemistry was off the charts. Money was an issue as well. Manny Montana had an issue on another show he was on and felt back stabbed by those he thought he was friends with. He became very closed off on set and would come to work, do his job and then go home. If they do bring it back in order to tie up loose ends I hope they do not listen to some fans who say Hendricks should be replaced. I think both Hendricks & Montana are at fault for the cold atmosphere on set but they obviously are professional enough to get the job done. Rio & Beth scenes were pure gold. I'm sure if allowed they could continue not let their animosity towards each other affect what comes off on screen.
She didn't like him because he was the fan favorite. Now she's trying to make him seem like a predator and trying to ruin his career. I see what she trying to do. Sad

These are all professional actors. They were all famous, Before this show came into existence.
Maye West was a child actor, that FAR surpassed her "child actor" reputation..going on to become a delightful, meaningful, talented adult actress.
Rhetta has been hilarious for Years. Parks and Rec....anyone? Is this thing on? (Honorable mention to the actor that played Stan. Talk about a stand-out!)
Christina Hendricks was Huge in a show (that I didn't, personally, watch) Mad Men.
Manny Montana has shown his "range" in multiple big-league projects, and was a fan-fave in Good Girls..no doubt).
This show was Not Meant for 'network television', and should've been pitched to Showtime, HBO, Netflix, Hulu, or ANY other network that wasn't NBC.
It needed a chance to be 'gritty'.
It was full of plot-holes (i.e. Boomer's cellphone being in the trash bag with Jeff's body, Agent Turner realizing he had been set-up before blindly removing his Kevlar vest (without Any hesitation), the way Stan answered his polygraph questions (saying 'I did not' instead of 'no'), how would Anyone know to call the bar Annie was at when Beth's daughter went missing?, just bc Annie told Mick that Beth's fingerprints shouldn't be on the gun didn't explain how Annie's prints ended up on it, etc)
It deserved a shot at reaching its potential, and was prematurely cancelled unfairly.
As a 38yearold, I was More than happy to see Matthew Lillard back at it. He has always been interesting (Scream, 13 Ghosts, etc)
This entire ensemble, and the large audience of us tried&true fans, got an unfair shake by this cancellation.
Thank you to the writers for being creative enough to not make the Whole thing into a dream..but, also for not just leavin' us hangin'.
I liked that there was a subtle prelude to the final 'dream sequence' by making 'Eddie' the grocery store robber that shot Beth in the end. ✌🏽

still disappointed to this day that they canceled s5. but then again its rumored they didnt pay manny montana his cut worth like christinas hendricks, and i dont care if anybody says “but shes the main character” manny montana is considered a main character for everyone who watches this show! this show would be nothing and soo boring without him, he makes it more entertaining. i still have hope for this show to come back even tho its very not likely, im so sad still that this show ended and i have to rewatch the seasons & episodes but its just not the same. i really really hope one day that the producers realized what a good show they lost and help revive good girls.

It's the perfect ending. The show was getting a bit repetitive and the characters were becoming unlikeable, and not in a good way. I love how Beth has the power she always wanted, Ruby can start anew with her family, and Annie is rotting in prison.
Any new season will just tirelessly stretch out the plot in which Annie somehow fucks up, Ruby upsets her husband, and Beth narrowly escapes trouble episode after episode.

One of my fav shows! So sad the actors couldn’t get over their personal issues. NBC should have intervened and counselled the two so the show could have ended as planned with a fifth season. Such a shame….😢
yeah theyre all professional actors it couldve easily been solved with professional help. clearly didnt stump the insane chemistry they had all 4 seasons and likely wouldnt have changed 5 or 6 too

Not all men are bad and also we women can really be special when something doesn't work out our way. Couldn't they simply work out their problems out of gratitude for the fans of their show? It is so inconsiderate to leave those of us who watched the show, and enjoyed it, with a totally incomplete ending. So disappointing that they would have so little regard for their viewers. If the main problem is the animosity between Christina Hendricks and Manny Montana, they should set aside their problems and act with professionalism and complete the fifth season for sake of their viewers. They need never work together again, but they should at the very least finish what they started.

Just found Good Girls on Netflix and was hooked instantly! So sad it was cancelled! Would have loved to see a season 5 or even more. Love all the characters but honestly Rio was my favorite! Would love to see him in a spin off or other work! Love him!
Beth should be replaced with someone opposite of him and younger. Beth was older and in different place in her life yet she was using him to overcome her issues with herself. He did love her but she didn’t. He needs a new love interest.
The contrast of that two is what made it exciting and scandalous. There would be no story if he found someone more like him. That makes no sense
