  • Have you ever felt something creepy crawly in your hair? Think it's dandruff? Nope, that's hundreds of parasitic lice. So, where do lice come from? If you're itching to know, then stick around. This is Your Body On: Lice Infestation. Did you know there are three different types of lice? Not all of them like to hang out in your hair. There are also body lice and pubic lice. Each kind spreads through close contact with an infected person. What would happen if you had lice and didn't get treatment for an entire month?

My mom had lice once. She vigorously shampooed her hair after applying egg whites and turmeric for a fortnight. The lice were gone, and her hair looked extra shiny.

I am so happy that you actually showed what this looks like. You Tube has started blocking out so many images of medical conditions that after the presentation, the image is blocked and you don't know what to look for. This is the first time I've seen this, thank you.

There is a cooking channel from China that I used to love watching, he would do dishes with unusual things....whole animals....heads of animals....from plucking, burning off the hair...etc...
I quit watching when he would be preparing something like a dish made from a cows head, but YT would make him blur out the head. So he is showing us how to clean and prepare this stuff properly, but what he is filming needed to be blurred. It made it not even worth watching.
Its crazy that YT has the methods they do for restricting things, because while medical conditions and even cooking are effected, there is some nasty stuff on here.

Soldiers in WW1 lived with lice and fleas constantly. They called them seam squirrels and would spend hours popping the nits in the seams of their clothes. Humans can get used to just about anything, gross as it seems.

I would also like to say that if you or any of your children have lice, PLEASE don't go to a Hairdresser or a Barber~!!
I'm a Barber and so many parents bring their kids in for a haircut, saying things like:
    1. oh but the hair is so long it's hard to get them out.
    2. we've tried everything and I've treated the hair so "Most " of them are dead, so you can cut it right?
    3. there are only eggs no live adults, so it's safe to get a haircut right?
and 4 the one I get a lot: Oh I didn't know he/she had lice. ( when clearly they have ALOT of lice. )
please don't bring your kids to a hairdresser/ barbers for a haircut when they have lice.
doesn't matter if there are dead eggs, all it takes is one egg to be alive. and the newly hatched lice are a size of a grain of salt so how do you know there isn't anything alive.
once there are no signs of dead or live eggs and no live crawly adults, then can your kids get a haircut.
I say this because we hairdressers and barbers can CATCH lice too~!!
I've caught lice from a child once..... no matter how careful I was to be clean I still managed to get lice.
as a barber/ hairdresser. if I catch lice I cant go to work. if I did id give it to customers and other staff members.... which then could lead to the shop closing down due to infestation.
and since I don't get paid sick leave, I will struggle just living and paying rent, food, etc.....
so please don't take your kids with lice to get a haircut, not only it shows that you don't care about the hairdresser/ barber.... but shows that you're really a prick and selfish.
I get that it's not fun having kids with lice.. and that it's not an easy thing to get rid of... but its not our job to do that... our job is to provide a service that guarantees a hygienic/clean haircut for all our customers. and cutting hair with lice, put the rest of our customers for the day and ourselves at risk of getting lice too.
it's just best to see a doctor if you're struggling to get rid of them

Tea tree oil. Mix a shot glass full of tea tree oil into about 2 cups of hair conditioner. Wet the hair. Apply the mixture to the hair thoroughly. Leave in for 30 minutes. You will feel an uncomfortable sensation. Wash out with shampoo. Repeat in 2 weeks. No brushing or clothes washing needed. This will get rid of the lice guaranteed.

If we are being honest with each other, if your kids go to public school, plan to encounter this at least once while they are there. We had full on "lice checks" at my school when I was a kid in the 80's, these days, people are too sensitive.....does anyone go to a school that does those still?
My sons mom stepped in and got the stuff to treat him when he got it (only once) because she said all of her other kids had it (7 other kids, she just knew the procedure so was on it) and she even checked to make sure they didnt give it to him, they didnt. I was freaked out....to say the least, but it turned out just fine and was an easy fix. I was worried about the bedding, clothes and even the couch in the house. It turned out fine though.

But she told me my grandma did the same thing with my aunt, but they were completely immune. But Raid spray?! I understand the desperation, but is that even legal?

I volunteer at my kids' school every year and for my elderly clients and at the shelter i used to work at...just checking lice. Its the only talent i have. I see lice where others don't, even if they have a magnifying glass and i don't. It is my only talent. So much so that in the times I havent volunteered to check heads, they've called to beg me to come in. Im the fastest and the most thorough. Ive been told im wrong before and a week later the family is infested. If your child has one baby louse on their head, i will find it. It is my only skill but damn am i skilled in the ways of vermin.

Hello Doctor, may God bless you. A week ago I discovered that I have body lice, how can it be treated? I got rid of all my clothes, but I don't know what other ways to get rid of it. I see a lot of small white dots on my clothes, but I got rid of them. I don't feel itching on my body. I rarely feel it, but still. There is something in the clothes, get rid of it, and it will come back. What is the solution? By God, I am tired of praying for you, but what is the solution? I have red bumps all over my body also my classmate has alot of lice so its come tome now what should I do from your experience guys please answer 😔😔
