    I got your remark about my TH-cam video so I just decided to stop by and say hello 🤗, nice content you have here 👍

    Very nice, were the existing foundations ok?
    Also, did it sit on inner cavity leaf 100mm thick? Seems really large to have just a steel.

      The beam has a plate welded at specific intervals along the bottom and spans the cavity to bear on the inner padstones and outer brickwork.
      It’s all calculated and designed by the structural engineer.

      @@pkpropertysolutionsltd701 Thanks for the response. Did you need to underpin the existing foundations?

      We wasn’t required to do anything to the foundation, usually we are only ever altering the foundation/footing if the design calls for a frame or box structure.

      @@pkpropertysolutionsltd701 Thanks for the info. I've designed a few frames with new offset pads. They usually go right to the edges though, looks like these still have good piers. Thanks for your responses, really appreciated. 👍

    Was the bifold door screw directly to the steel beam or was there a 2x nailer between the aluminum and the steel?

      It can be drilled and screws to the beam or an infill timber if needed, the most important part is to leave the recommended expansion gap around the frame to prevent heat expansion from binding on the doors.
      We would wedge the frame in situ and check all the levels and gaps; then expanding foam the frame in.
      Once dry you remove the wedges from the sides and top and add your fixings.

    How much would such an alteration cost?

    • @pkpropertysolutionsltd701
      @pkpropertysolutionsltd701  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to budget £900 per panel in the door system and each panel should ideally be less than 90cm to reduce the stress on the components.
      So with a 5 meter opening the door would be approximately £4500.
      Then you have the Labour for installation at around £800 and any structural alterations on top of that.

    What size steel was used for the bifold opening ?
    Is that 4 meters

    • @pkpropertysolutionsltd701
      @pkpropertysolutionsltd701  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have a structural engineer that calculates these things but if I remember correctly it was a 254x146x43ub with a 8mm plate welded at particular lengths and intervals to the bottom.
      This opening was 4.35m wide.

      @@kurtmalpassbrickwork6255 yes the plate sits on the outside skin of brickwork to hold the face bricks.
      Make sure you use a cavity tray and weep vents to prevent damp inside
