    Andie did AMAZING!!!! 👏🏼 I had no idea Andie and Margaret are mother & daughter in real life. I think that just makes this show 10x better!

    I was blown away at Andy performance! I didn’t even know she had it in her to play this crazy nutty fun loving mother! Was really captivating seeing the dynamic between Andy and her daughter! Well done! 👏🏾

    HER REAL DAUGHTER???!!!! That explains their chemistry. The whole time I kept thinking how well they matched them up as mother and daughter. ❤❤

    What an amazing performance. I wanted to shake her throughout the movie and, at the same time, wanted to protect her.

    So amazing. I binged watched the show over the last two days. Brought up a lot of healing opportunities for me, my background when my children were very young was very similar to Alex's, sans the mom with mental health challenges. I didn't have a mom who was for me, actually my whole family was against me, hence how much I could relate to Alex's experience. My daughter is now 28 and we are very close. I can really relate to how Andi shares her experience with working with Margaret, I love how she was protecting her and nurturing her on camera and off. So wonderful. The best of mom-daughter relationship. I cried many times watching, crying again. Kuddos. Andi and Margaret. In this very strange time, this is a piece of cinematic healing for millions. God bless.

    I love you Andie Macdowell, going way back to the days when you played “Green Card” , one of my favorite movies. I loved this show so much , I watched it over 3 times and I can relate as my own mothers suffers from Schizophrenia and I was able to relate to your role and what Alex was going through like how I am dealing with it today just taking care of my mother and always worried about her and my needs on the side. So happy 🎉 congrats on amazing job.

    Wow, loved this interview. I've always been a fan of Andie MacDowell and never knew we had such similar backgrounds. People say I resemble her in looks--esp the big dark hair, we are around the same age and I'm southern. I am loving Maid and could relate to the characters a lot, I often cry watching it. My mother had mental illness (paranoid schizophrenia) and died young. Growing up with an unpredictable mother was fun and horrible at the same time. I had always wished my mother was like my friends' mothers and would be helpful, thoughtful, or just be there. I ended up having to take care of her. Like Andie, I have a half-brother, who was my mother's favorite because his father was my mother's one true love. He did help me out by letting momma come live with him for a while. I wish the show GREAT SUCCESS, the acting is brilliant!

      Anita Noni Rose (Regina) blew everyone out of the water with her breakdown scene. We were watching actors vs a real person.

    Great point about diagnoses. And how the character is self medicating. Very interesting interview. And, if it makes anyone feel better-I watched the movie and felt like it WAS Paula’s choice to let Alex go off to college and make a life for herself.

      Paula was hopeless in life and love and Port Hampstead was her comforter. Even the thought of throwing it off to test out different opportunities or towns was beyond her abilities... she was so set in her ways and caged in by her own poverty despite the front she put on to the outside world. I originally thought her decision to not go with Alex and Maddy was more a symptom of her emptiness than a conscious choice... then again, there were moments where she was very maternal and so maybe deciding to stay in Port Hampstead was her way of helping Alex truly break the poverty cycle. Paula had nothing and felt like she was nothing, hiding behind the veneer of a cheesy smile every day.
      How I loved the way Andie played this maniacal character... I thought for a bit there that it might be undiagnosed dementia but I guess the producers left a big question mark over that one for us to decide for ourselves.

    This series, and the book should be required reading for all DSHS employees and those who work in shelters. They exist for people exactly like Alex and Paula, especially today with rampant mental illness and drug addiction. Overhaul the insufferable paperwork and red tape.

    Who is her daughter?

    • @ChristinaRadish1128
      @ChristinaRadish1128 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Her daughter is Margaret Qualley, the lead actress in Maid. She was cast and then wanted her mother, Andie MacDowell, to play her mother in the show.
