Such a good band. Saw them last month when they toured with 200 Stab Wounds, Cattle Decap, and Dark Funeral. As someone who teaches in a school district with a 50% Ojibwa student population, the Native American influence only adds interest for me.
I love Blackbraid. Since their first single release. Oh and I dig your shirt. Kreator comes from my area and they were a good part of my early youth :D.
I’m excited to listen to this album. I saw BlackBraid on the Decibel tour the first day of the tour and man were they an amazing opener they sound great live.
this is such a top notch recording with other indigenous sounds like flutes and acoustic guitar beautiful stuff the elements were quite pure such a masterpiece i think it reflects where he lives in the airondack mountains atmosphere this sounds
Looking forward to giving this a listen, thoroughly enjoy last year's album and the "single" they released.. Also, judging by the singles by Humanity's Last Breath, I can't wait to listen to the whole thing once it gets released! :)
Before subscribing to you I never touched the "Black Metal" genre, now I am a big an of Blut Aus Nord and Blackbraid thanks to you bringing attention to it. Although those 2 do differ, if you have any further recommendations I am straight on it, as you've got me into other bands as well! Love your work.
Happy to hear bud! Lately I've been jamming Wayfarer a lot - they blend classic black metal with influence from the wild west (literally cowboy black metal lmao). Can't go wrong with Wolves In The Throne Room either. Their most recent EP is one of the best of the year for sure.
Looking forward to listening to this, I pretty much ignored Blackbraid 1 last year. You should review Aetherian's new album on the 14th, At Storm's Edge
I’m surprised Pan-Amerikan Native Front gets no mention here, this really isn’t the first indigenous artist to tackle this subject matter in a black metal context. Tecumseh’s War is an absolute banger of an album and that came out in 2016. I’ve liked some of what I’ve heard from Blackbraid I guess I question this being treated as a brand new or totally unique thing.
So much hype everywhere I simply had to check. Didn't impress me that much and I couldn't identify why. Then halfway through the album it clicked - it's just Bathory's B sides. And then they killed it with Bathory cover. Now I understand why it is praised so much by people who didn't experience the rise of Bathory itself… For me - it remains B sides though.
Idk it didn’t land for me as well as Blackbraid I. I will give it a few more chances. It’s quite long, feels more atmospheric to me, and is a little repetitive. I really like the Bathory cover and twilight hymn. I think I would like him to go heavier, more Immortal style than atmospheric.
I would have dropped the Bathory cover. The album is long enough and it doesn't add anything IMHO. But I'm not a big fan of cover songs on proper albums.
After listening to this album a couple times, I have to say this: It's OK. Some strange production choices on the drums. The Bathory cover isn't as good as the original. But I COULD see this being a gateway into black metal for people who don't usually listen to that subgenre, similar to what Sunbather was to me ten years ago.
Blackbraid I kind of grew off of me throughout the rest of last summer, but was still a solid listen. This second one, as of me typing this comment out, is currently premiering over on Black Metal Promotion's channel right now. I'll exercise a lil' tiny bit of patience and wait for it to end before checking it out in full. Glad you liked it!
It is a slightly smoother to the ear LP than the previous. Still filled with below par riffs, basic song structures and mediocre lyrical depth. Just a OK BM album.
Maybe its a good gateway album to the meat of the the genre. Just kinda banal and super safe. Every BM track is the same thing. Slightly better than the last LP.
Missing tje OG Crepusculo Negro bands, or Ifernach and Pan-Amerikan Native Front. FFS, SIMPLY ANYTHING FROM MALIFENECT... Blackbraid is the Bon Jovi of the indigenous BM scene. Overrated band.

I just discovered this artist a few days ago and was awestruck. Can't wait to check the album out
My man do a incantation review every album. Perfect time since new one is dropping next month

@@themetalmeltdownofficial cowboy black metal? Straight on it 😂 I trialled Wolves earlier, will persist.
See you for the next one 👌

Excited for this album tomorrow and Fen
Still regularly spinning Blackbraid I and super pumped for this new record!
I'm pretty pumped to listen to this and the new Fen record tomorrow :)
Nice gonna have to check it out tonight I am not a huge black metal guy but i really liked the first one. Talented dude..
This is a fantastic album. It honestly surprised me.

I've never even heard of those guys lmao, definitely gonna check em out though.
A little more raw and perhaps leaning toward some first wave vibes. I think Tecumseh’s War is their best album. The song “Raising the War Club” slaps.
this record is probably gonna be my AOTY for pure black metal (because Hellripper doesn't count and None just did an ambient album)

More like Dissection B-sides featuring Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull on flute.
Prying open the Jaws is probably the best doom riff ever written by a non doom band

His name is Jon, just call him Jon. Very good album.

It is the Kyle's Monster Energy drink of BM.
L and you know it
HAHA! I wouldn't go THAT far... but yeah, I just found it slightly better than average.

Not to mention horrible over-compressed drums. Just another worthless BM band among millions.
@@bangfury Those were exactly my thoughts, too. More power to those who love it, though.
@@therightarmofthefreeworld4703 Yeah, the drums are recorded so weirdly, especially that hollow snare.
Meh, not indigenous enough for my taste. Get back to me when they release it etched on bone music cylinders.
