    This dude has mastered the art of cutting off plastic triceratops heads, slightly modifying them, and slapping them back on and somehow it comes out better looking than before.

    I think laying the diorama on its side and pouring a very thin layer of resin over those seam lines would make them disappear. Then you can sand and polish the sides to get them completely flat. Apart from that though, this is incredible! I love the little see-through den under the water and the splashes around the feet!

    • @noahpedroza1798
      @noahpedroza1798 5 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      the lines are caused by him pouring in a cup of the resin ,letting it dry and poring another on top. if he had made all the resin at once and slow did it all the lines would be gone.

    • @captaincombustion4118
      @captaincombustion4118 5 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      @@noahpedroza1798 Possibly, but most resins can only be poured in a certain thickness at a time. He also wouldn't be able to position all the objects as he went if he poured it all in one go. But this doesn't help Kayakasaurus now, I was trying to help him fix it.

    • @improvementTime10.3.17
      @improvementTime10.3.17 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Maybe if he used a custom clamp from the top he could have it held in place the way he wanted from the start and poured all the resin in at once

    • @EffableLemming
      @EffableLemming 5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@noahpedroza1798 Resin produces heat as it's setting, and the thicker the layer the more heat is produced. This is one of the reasons why companies recommended a certain thickness per layer.

    • @ManticorePinion
      @ManticorePinion 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If you pour it all in at once, some resins will heat up too much, bubble insanely and then set much quicker than normal. The best way to have done it would probably to have vacuum chambered the piece as it was setting, if possible. Not sure if that would have helped with the layer lines, but it would have stopped most of the bubbles from making them worse.

      A little goes a long way when you're making a mini scene. I'm more surprised he didn't rearrange their a leg or two as well, but I'm sure needing to get the video edited and posted in time played a major role. I was more curious to see how he would match the skin tone, but giving each Dino their own fresh skin tone was certainly a 4D chess move, imo.

      Yes I couldve. If he would've read the package of the resin. I tells him how long to let it cute per layer and how much catalist should've been added. You add less the more layers because it reacts with the one under it

    • @SuaKusaoIvanov
      @SuaKusaoIvanov 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes. Also, why use a vacuum chamber if he will pour the resin carelessly anyway? That's why the bubbles formed in the bottom.

  • @joannecarroll5504
    @joannecarroll5504 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Awesome work, great to watch. Don't stress about bubbles, people pay too much attention to those & they forget that there would be bubbles in real fast-moving or agitated water IRL. Loved your attention to detail with underwater environment pieces, baby dino etc & the blending after the 'plastic surgery' was just terrific. A decent sander will help you grind those mishap lines away on the outside & they'll be less noticeable after some polishing compound. Brilliant work, I might subscribe :)

      if you wanna do it, do it. only person stopping you is you.

    Dude, you should do a collab with Jurassic Repaints and Marko makes, and make a massive diorama. That would be fantastic!
    Like so Kayak sees this!

    What a shame about the bubbles and layers seeping. Good on you for just accepting it and still being proud. Looks f***ing awesome. If it was me I would of felt so defeated and given up as soon as the bubbles started forming .

    This looks so cool, but is there a more efficient way to make the resin layers less definite? He worked so hard to make the diorama and even a peek hole, but i think the water did not turn out the way he wanted to be...
