"Fool for the city" really showcases the vocal range, without any effects, absolutely searing guitars, the half time drum fills are killer, last guitar lead will give the hint of the live Oakland Skynyrd Freebird, it's that good. Your Welcome

Foghat is one of *the best* 1970s/early '80s hard rock bands. "Fool for the City" is a must. On the live album, you should hear "Honey Hush" and the long version of "Slow Ride." "Stone Blue" is one of my favorite "pick-me-up" songs-- such a banger! Their *second self-titled* album, released after the self-titled debut, is my favorite Foghat album. It's known by longtime fans as "Rock & Roll." It's an absolute killer!

They banged out the heads and they were just simply really good. And I didn't pay much for the ticket which made me happy because you've got some of these bands like Foreigner charging a hundred bucks and there's not one guy from the original band playing. Foghat is so good because three of the four members cut their teeth in a great band called Savoy Brown. A band that explored the depths of blues and boogie British-style, so these guys were already masters of that genre when Foghat's debut album was released. It's a style characterized by a hard-as-nails approach that paid a lot of reverence to early American blues and Rock n' Roll music. They were no posers. This of course is an old Willie Dixon song - been covered by some of the best - Foghat is right up, but I seem to recall everyone and their brother in the poll telling you to react to the version off of "Foghat Live" - that album captured what they were about - "Slow Ride" for example is way better on the live album.

Takes me back to 1978. A couple friends in our neighborhood built a skateboard ramp in the middle of our street and we would crank up Foghat Live and go crazy until the old bag neighbors made us take it down. Now I’m an old bag neighbor, but absolutely love and cherish this memory and Foghat! One of the best live albums ever.

I was in a band that covered this. We got a new lead guitarist and he knew this song. That beginning part, he said: "All you have to do is copy what I play." He was way better than I was, so I was always kinda shitting in my pants when we did this, especially if it was in front of an audience. But we always got a pretty good reaction, so I guess I didn't fuck it up too much, and I learned some guitar licks...

Agreed A+. Proof that Love doesn't have to be a ballad. This one is a super danceable rocker. Guy in an old band of mine called these type of songs, "panty-droppers." They'd fill up an empty dance floor with chicks, which would get things going.

I see a lot of folks talking about the superior quality of the live versions of Foghat's songs. I Agree whole heartedly. And with that in mind I implore you to give Deep Purple's Smoke on the Water another listen... The version from Made in Japan is a must. Y'know, back in the day, after Made in Japan came out, you'd be hard pressed to find the studio version of Smoke on the Water on the radio. For the next 2 years, the live version got the most airplay. The raw liveness of the track will not disappoint. Blackmore, Lord and Gillan shine as Glover and Paice provide a killer backing track. This is the version we all rocked to. Don't deny yourselves the pleasure of this experience! Besides, Purple is long overdue for a return appearance on your Channel.
    Cheers!

Yeah glad you loved this! I remember when I first heard Foghat. It was 1972 and I was at a pizza joint with my parents, I was 13. This song suddenly played on the jukebox, and I was like "whoa what is that?". I looked at the jukebox menu and saw I Just Want To Make Love To You/ Foghat. Of course I got the album, learned it on guitar, showed it to my garage band, and we loved playing it! It was so easy to play and so hard to make sound good. This song was the reason I later saved up my money from my fry cook job at A&W and got my first wa-wa pedal. Great memories chaps. Thanks!
