In 2007-08, my best friend Christian and I were enamoured with wrestling. Not only would we wrestle in the school playground, but he would also come over to my house every Monday evening to watch Raw. The first time we did this was undoubtedly the most memorable as after the first ad break, the inevitable PSA warning us not to imitate the wrestlers reared its head. ‘Don’t try this at home…’ said Randy Orton in this segment. Christian and I didn’t bat an eye. ‘Or school!’ Orton finished. At that point, we slowly turned towards each other in horror! How on earth did Randy Orton know that we were imitating WWE superstars at school! We were totally going to get RKOed in our sleep as punishment!
Honestly not having RVD , Benoit , Benjamin , Haas , London & Kendrick , Boogeyman etc is what made the game feel weak cause of the lackluster roster
The Legendary Thwagger Thwaggy Benoit is understandable but the others not so much

Even the legends roster is barebones
Not even D&D appear and they were the Champs
Also big show, test, hardore holly, mike knox, matt striker, kevin thorn, ariel and more ecw wrestlers like Balls Mahoney and the fbi

Carl Hicks I had it PSP. Although I think this game sucks. I wouldn't mind going back to play again just for the hell of it, but unfortunately I sold my psp long ago. The first 3 SvR were the shit tho 👌! Still have em'.

I always thought this game should've had DLC due to the lackluster roster. Here's my concept on how they could've done it.
Tag Team Pack - London/Kendrick, Cade/Murdoch, Shelton/Haas, Deuce/Domino
Superstar Pack - RVD, Hardcore Holly, Cody Rhodes, Santino Marella, The Miz, The Boogeyman, Big Daddy V
Legends Pack(The PSP exclusives that weren't included in the PS2,3, and 360) - Eddie Guerrero, Jim Neidhart, Sgt. Slaughter
It's not the best idea, but this game sorely needed a bigger roster.
True they needed more guys in this game makes no sense and I am still mad that they removed Benoit and rvd like god damn
@@thekingchannel4918 Tbf, Benoit was taken out for good reason, but RVD makes no sense considering Sabu was released before him yet still made the cut. Not to mention that fact that other big names like Angle and Christian were in TNA, Jericho didnt come back till December, Big Show until February, and probably more that I'm forgetting

Currently going through a bunch of old SVGRs after this one popped up in my feed. This honestly wasn't what I subscribed for, but I decided to give one a watch and now I'm hooked! I particularly love the CAW ending, my sides were in orbit. Keep it up!

Great video! 2008 was the first SvR game I owned, picking up a ps2 in 2006-2007. I love this game, the nostalgia alone gets me all the time. I see your points though, in retrospective it isn't that great, but for me it's pretty much my childhood.

WWE SvR 2008 is the last truly great WWE game, IMO.

I love the whole asthetic of the time period along with the awesome music and the early days of Wwecw makes me love this game, so underrrated
Not a bad game, but the roster was worse with tons of people not making the cut, season mode wasn't good, and overall the flash and charm from 2007 wasn't there. SERIOUSLY, Look at 2007's main menu and then look at THIS GAMES LIKE WHAT

07 and 08 are my faves. GM mode is too much fun

I never understood the hype with gm mode, I tried it in 2008, was pretty disappointed. Season mode in 07 is hell of a lot fun though, I prefer road to wrestlemania than gm mode.

The roster cuts were odd because some were missed this game after appearing in the last one only to appear in the next game
I actually liked this game, but still agree on the weaknesses and bad points. I just still enjoyed playing the game despite them.

ECW will always be my overall favorite promotion so I ended up really liking 2008 because of the added ECW things here and there. Dope vid but that outro is gonna give me nightmares lol.
I remember the first time playing this. I rented it from blockbuster and brought my ps2 to my girlfriends house at the times house and she hated wrestling with a passion haha

I prefer 07s mainly because of the bigger roster and I really enjoyed sending my lower midcarders to heat or velocity it really gave them a popularity boost once they were ready to return to the main roster

The one thing do I have to say with the sound is when a babyface makes an entrance, the cheering audience sound a little distorted and they sound like they were stuck on one loop, heck you can even hear a few boos if you listen carefully.

Since wwf smackdown on the ps1 my dad would always buy me the newest wwe game every year on Christmas but I stopped watching wwe a week before the release of svr 2011 which was my last wwe game I ever bought and didn't bought any game after because I was no longer watching wwe
This was one of my favorite wrestling games because it was the first one I've played and I played it religiously I didn't play any other wrestling game until wwe 12 came out
The only credit I will give this game, is the really good soundtrack, and heavily getting me into Chevelle. Other than that, fuck this game.

I enjoyed multiplayer with my friends and the upgraded graphics for PS3 but this game was pretty bad. I am glad these reviews are coming back more frequently. Definitely keep up the good work. I miss the other intro though. It is way more catchier. Found myself head bopping many times

I had a copy of Wwe Smackdown V Raw 2007 that featured Chris Benoit as a playable character for Ps2
I knew there was something up with the roster as a kid I noticed Beniot was missing which I eventually guessed was due to that incident. I also noticed that we were missing London and Kendrick Trevor Murdoch lance Cade Big Show and Kurt Angle so quite a few people who were on the roster at the time.
Exactly the reason of why they was cut was because thq and wwe was being lazy asf when adding the roster but yeah these should have made the cut officially
@@thekingchannel4918 it’s wild that London and Kendrick didn’t make the roster until SVR09 when I’m almost certain they were either not a team or nowhere near as prominent as they were. So clearly it’s in history for glaring omissions to the rosters

One thing I realized was how high the ratings were for some wrestlers in this video that I didn’t realize playing back then,Marcus Cor Von with an 89,Nitro with an 89, MVP with an 88, & more,also 24/7 mode for wrestlers(created)was just repetitive & didn’t make sense but I still wanna get this game again for GM Mode,the awesome soundtrack of course, & the memories

this was the first wrestling game i bought after no mercy. i was kind of disappointed, but i didn't hate it. i bought the next two thinking maybe they'd fix the stuff i didn't like, but i actually did end up hating those. i wish i knew i should've just got '07. i would've liked the roster better anyway.

TokyoBrando Agreed. I thought the first SmackDown! vs RAW was great too! As a matter of fact the first 3 SvR games were the best! '08-'10 sucked ass. I never played 2011 or the 2K series so can't judge those. I did however played '13 and enjoyed it (still do!)

Bad roster. Benoit died, RVD and Kurt Angle left the WWE, Big Show was working on his weight. Eddie was only in the game in the PSP version for some reason.

The last wwe game I enjoyed. Heck it was the last to have gm mode. I absolutely hated SvR2009. It was so bare bones. Really loved this game and its soundtrack. I understand the criticism it gets though. 06 and 07 are still better

It WAS better because it had more ECW wrestlers than just one (RVD). Having Terry Funk and Sabu in a game where you didn’t have to do crazy button combinations (Legends of Wrestling 1 and 2) and the GM mode was great. Thinking that 2007 was better is lik saying Eva Marie was a good wrestler./
