Beautiful food movie… and all they want is a COBB SALAD?!?!
I do love a good Cobb salad occasionally, but they do get old
Mistake to learn about social etiquette from Jane Austen books and the movie 'The Leopard' - now it stands out whenever you see people talking about business or money like that at public gatherings.
From what I can tell that was considered uncouth for centuries.
Isn't it bad form/manners to toast yourself?
I've never had a Cobb Salad before but.....no offence to people who like it but it sounds a bit bland compared to the rest of the food we see in this movie.
And does it count as a Cobb Salad if they have a quarter of it all taken out?
A Cobb salad is very tasty and filling, but I do agree that compared to the rest of the cordon bleu dishes featured in the film it is most definitely not as fancy, but I think that was the whole point of this scene: to see the contrast in Julie's life pre-Julia Child. Also, a Cobb salad has a lot of ingredients so removing one is not having a quarter taken out. The most common ingredients are greens (traditionally romaine lettuce), chicken, egg, bacon, tomato, avocado and blue cheese with a red wine vinaigrette. I've never seen one with beets, though, but I guess that just shows that there are many more you can add.
I'm autistic. I so feel this when I'm trying to vibe with NTs.
