Great video. Ive always considered the WW2 fortifications of Sydney Harbour something of a forgotten piece of our history that deserves more attention. I have visted all the sites myself but haven't been to the command post of fort lingan since i was a child. Ive heard that the structure in Scotchtown was near where the current Water Tower is but im not sure the exact location or if its true. Looking forward to the rest of this series!
@@AbandonedCapeBreton Lol Lol. Back in the late 60's and into 70's we used to drink Beer on the roof of that fort In Lingan. Laffins cove. Which is near the Generating station today. Why? Because we knew the PoPo was to lazy to walk in. Good times. TY.
I like the historical detail. We have a similar place here called York Redoubt, it's a really nice park now, but it has some interesting little known spots!
Yes, I love the Redoubt. Point Pleasant Park is full of hidden gems too, and some impressive ruins that everyone knows as well where SBTS performs in the summer. They used to use one closer to the water but now use the one in the middle. Used to be a gun position. Lots of amazing things still in the Halifax area from WWII.
Have you visited the Point Edward Barracks? There are still a few buildings standing. One of the gun turets has fallen onto the beach. The other one may still be standing. It has been awhile since we were in there.
These are really good videos. I remember there was a barracks in South Bar by the sand bar but it was knocked down back in the nineties.

Thanks, John! Next one will be the Oxford Battery! Stay tuned.

Been to them all! They are all on the list for my channel. Will get round to them all eventually.
Have you been to Fort Oxford or The Oxford Battery sites?
Funny you should mention that. That's the next episode.
The old soap stone mine behind whycocomagh might make a good video.
Thanks for the suggestion!
