    I had a black 64 galaxy with a 390 Thunderbird engine, and a three speed speed on the column put a top loader four Speed and that was like driving your living room down the freeway. A big powerful car missed the days of those big old Fords. Nothing sounds like sweetness like the throaty of a big block Ford. This car featured is magnificently done to every detail I like the fact that nothing’s been upgraded, that can be seen other than the 482 bore and stroke it’s quiet but as he said, carries a big stick, what a wonderful representation of the Orignal model

    My parents had a '63 Galaxie 500 xl Rangoon Red. Red interior. It was just a 289 2v three on tree but I love the look of it when I 5 years old... I would draw pictures of it at school. My mom brought home a Dalmation male dog who was let out on their street in the country. We lived in a small town Fires station. My dad was the only paid Fireman. My sister named the dog Chief! I have never forgot him. Chief loved to be in that car! It's weird, huh... He would lay in the front seat when dad was cleaning the interior. I wish I had those pics. They were lost in a flood.

    I had a 64 galaxy 500xl w/a 69 428 cj & it's 4spd. It still had the org rear end .. not much on take off , but , quite the ride none the less ! This car was a factory 4spd w/ console.. white out / black inside.

    I remember throwing a rock thru the back glass of my Fathers 1963 Galaxie XL 500 car and it had a 390 auto with dark Blue exterior and light Blue interior. That car sat for over 20 years In OUR BACK YARD BEFORE Someone STOPPED TO TAKE IT AWAY . My first car when I was in the Air-Force was A 1963 Galaxie WITH A 352 AUTO WITH Red Interior AND WHITE exterior.

    I had a 64 Galaxie 500 XL Convertible with the 300 HP 390, Automatic, Power Steering, Manual Brakes. Red Interior, White Body Paint and White Top. Factory AM/FM Mono radio. When I sold it in 74, the young lady who picked it up promptly wrecked it doing some stupid teenage things. I still wish I had a place to put into storage while I was deployed over seas. That car and my 75 Scout II are the only cars I still wish I still had.

      I worked for an IHC Dealer from 71-73 before I went back into the Navy for another 20 years. I fell in love with the Scout II and eventually bought a new 75 in August 75. I did a frame off restore with many customization's and was almost finished except for the paint job when it was wrecked 31 December 1998. Ford Exploder thought he could drive in snow, hit the lady in front of his vehicle, spun out crossing a four lane highway and hit me on the left front corner destroying three years of work. I kept the wreck in my barn for almost ten years before I parted it out and sold the carcass. I do enjoy your series on the cars of my youth.

      Wow...sorry to hear that story but thanks for joining our ITCCT family! You'll love the Scout features among many others - keep watching! Question - what would you like to see as our next big feature in that series?

    • @Sundancer268
      @Sundancer268 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did enjoy the 79 Scout II series. My original 75 came with the 304 and four speed manual with the Dana 20 Transfer case. When I finished with it, I had a 392 from a 75 Travelall in it, a 727 Torqueflite from my 77 Scout II, 3:54 Gears with a four Pinion Power Loc rear end, SS Brake and transmission lines, Custom Radiator to keep it cool and a 2.5" lift. 35 Gallon Gas tank with two 10 Gallon Auxillary tanks all filled from the factory gas filler. It was our daily driver as I was rebuilding it whth the other car being used when I had to do more work on the Scout. I had snagged a 79 rust free body down in Ohio and had Fiberglass front fenders and cornering light installed from an 85 Chrysler LaBaron. I loved that Scout.

      Well I had a 61 Ford Fairlane four door sedan my parents gave me for HS Graduation in 68, dad bought it new on the 20th of April 61 for $2250 and his 55 Plymouth Plaza two door sedan. Bought new in 55 with no factory options. 61 Ford had the 292 y-Block, three on the tree with Overdrive, 3.89 rear end factory radio and the Deluxe Heater and was Aquamarine. Sold ot for $50 in Feb 69 when I went into the Navy for the first time. I had a 65 Ford Country Sedan and a 65 Falcon Futura Wagon, 74 Mustang II ( traded it in on the 75 Scout). Loved my Dad's 68 Fury II with the 318 and Torqueflite. So many memories. None of these are high value performance cars so many collectors are going for, but the vehicles of the common folks.

    Best detailed, accurate and informative video laying out what Engine Ford was actually used in the Grand National/Nascar racing programs not the more commonly chosen R code with 2 4 bbl carbs. Smartly rebuilt with a main cap girdle if you wanted to let it rip at 7 k for 500 miles as the center oilers were quickly changed to side oilers with cross bolts mains 2 years later. The 4.25" stroke and wide ratio David Kee Toploader will certainly make it a street beast. The owner knows his stuff and made a plan during restoration to make it appear as it did in the day and stuck to it, congratulations, well done. This is certainly an award wining Galaxie. I had almost the same car a few years ago, originally built with the exact paint and trim but with a column shifted 3 speed 352. But now it did have a 427 side oiler and the 406 CI tri power carb set up installed, it lacked the bottom end torque that this one has but it sure pulled very hard at higher revs.

    Gorgeous! I find it interesting that you went black with the fan shroud and chrome on the fuel filter. Why not chrome on both? Is there a “correct” way? I think it’s pretty much just up to what the owner prefers. Love to hear what you think!

      P.S. I need that wire that goes across the passenger inner wheel well and connects to the starter. I don’t have the clamps or anything and I’m not sure where to find one, would appreciate any leads.

    • @IfThisCarCouldTalk
      @IfThisCarCouldTalk  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching and the comment/question! Yes, the combination of the chrome on the fuel filter and a black fan shroud is "correct" from factory. The fan shrouds were never chromed originally. Keep watching!

    I accidentally bought a baby blue 1963.5 ford galaxy 500 few days ago. I just wanted the engine (I have a 1969 ford galaxy 500 4 door that is a one owner, owned by the air force base in Colorado) but the interior is in amazing condition on the 1963.5 and I don’t want to tear it apart. When looking up the car I found out it was a 63B code and looked into it more and found out it’s a 1963.5. I’m 25 and new to the car world and would love to learn more. Idk the value of the car or its history. If anyone knows a good place to find out more let me know. Also what’s the valuation in excellent condition?

    back in the early 90s i bought one of these for $300 the car was complete junk. i was after the rare 427 heads that to my delight happened to be in salvageable shape. i sold the car for scrap for $50 and rode off with my gold. they ended up in my brothers 68 galaxy 500 sport top which he still has to this day.
