    I think you have just the right types and amount of toys. Too many people try to make up for a lack of attention with a plethora of toys. If you had more toys it would be cluttered and the children could be overstimulated. If my children were still young I would be very happy to see a daycare that looks as organized and well thought out as yours is. Great job!

    Very nice. I just wish I had the space and layout you have. My only option is to use my dining room area for my daycare.

    I love the little quite corner. I like how its in between the couches so it looks like a little private island. I don't have kids yet but I will remember that.

    Yes Diamond, they have nap/rest time after lunch. Check out my downstairs playroom tour to see where the babies sleep. The older kids rest on mats in the upstairs playroom.

    great and informative tour. you have a spacious home, what would you recommend for a person who has a much smaller space?

    Trenadskn you bring up a very good point, why do I only have a few selective toys on the shelves? My daycare is Waldorf inspired and the first time I walked into a Waldorf Kindergarten I thought, "it's so bare in here!" There is a whole philosophy behind the toy organization that works to promote free play that is imaginative, cooperative and long lasting. It's brilliant! I bet you have some great tips for my readers, message me through facebook if you'd be up to doing an interview online, :)

    I would recommend a 'pull-out' program set up for a small space. Organize your toys into groups and store them in stackable bins. Leave an open area in your room where the children can set up the bin you have chosen for that day. Have a small number of favourite toys always available on a low shelf.
    Check out some of my posts (Toys to Buy, Small House) on my site howtorunahomedaycare(dot)com for more ideas.
    Good luck!

    I absolutely LOVE that wall panel maze thing you have! I have been looking everywhere, do you happen to remember where you got it or what brand it is?

    • @howtorunahomedaycare
      @howtorunahomedaycare  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought it years ago from a Canadian store called Home Sense. They bring in stock for a limited time only. Look up wall panels for kids or wall mounted toys for waiting rooms, these two searches will help you out. Good luck!

      Jennifer, I bought the shelving unit at Ikea. It is called Expedit and it will show up in the online catalogue as a tall shelf but I just turned it sideways. Thanks for the question!

    A dining room area could work well for a daycare playroom. Check out my "Creative Playroom Ideas" board on Pinterest for some good small space solutions.
    Good luck with your daycare!

    There are a few tips to think about before you start a cleaning business
    are you likely to have help from your family?
    Are you self-motivated?
    Will you stick to your plan?
    Do you have the money to begin?
    (I learned these and why they work from Quintrell Care Plan website )

    So cute! Where did you get the doll cradle and mini home furniture

      I bought the fridge and stove/sink at my local daycare supply store. It's made my Trojan Classroom Furniture. These two pieces are well built and have stood up nicely to a ton of use. The table and chairs are from IKEA and we love how sturdy they are. The shelf that stores the food is also IKEA and I found the doll cradle second hand at a garage sale. :)

    I have a question regarding taxes. you do yoy claim your gas for your car,groceries,toys,books,first aid,etc. On your taxes. Is there a guide line that is available to us?thanks so much

    • @howtorunahomedaycare
      @howtorunahomedaycare  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Leslie, When filing your taxes as a personal business you can claim gas, groceries, toys, books, etc. Daycare groceries will be a portion of your household grocery spending. I don't know of a guide line for home daycare taxes but I know lots of us would love one! The first year takes a bit of time to figure out your expenses and a system for keeping records and then it gets better. Well, a little better, ;) Good Luck!
