- After many repairs it was time to completely makeover these cool shoes. Stitched the toe apron, new welts, heel blokes, leather heel base, cleaned dyed the uppers and added JR soles.
For a minute there I thought you were gonna deprive us of the “let’s continue“. Beautiful work sir! Thanks!
Great video. For a minute, I thought my brain had switch or something when you were nailing the sole at the heel. Then I realized your phone was in reverse.
Thank goodness for these people who repair their shoes instead of spending less to buy a new pair. 🙏
When sentimental value exceeds real value 😄
Steve!!! You made those shoes brand new!!! Better than new! Those were trashed and you transformed them!🔥🔥🔥
Hi Steve, no need for apologies...any type of video from you is greatfully received 👍much love and respect to you and yours from the UK 😁👍
Always so great to see a craftsman at work
We've been missing you, Steve! Great to see another project and see your master craftsmanship in action!!
good to see you Steve :) take your time dealing with stuff.. we'll still be here!
Thanks for taking the time to film this.
Thanks for posting, Steve! It's always enjoyable to watch you at work!
Love you Bedo! Watching your videos always brightens up my day.
Always fun to watch a master craftsman at work
I love to see you no matter what you have time for, your the best. Now I got my Steve fix and all is well.
Keep ‘em coming! These uploads never get old!
Absolutely awesome Steve. Thanks for sharing and God Bless
Not a different video, in true fashion, love how you put the price at the end, your an amazing artist and cobbler, thank you for the content as always keep em coming
I love these restorations of shoes that are on life support. Really showcases what you can do, Steve. Finished product looks great.
Amazing work as always, take care 👍
Great casual video for my Friday afternoon. Never get tired of watching you work Steve.
I like watching people who have this kind of skill. Good job!!
I'm always impressed when you can bring the uppers back like that. I have to be honest, every time I see a post I hope it's the shell boot project.
Welcome back Steve!!!
I love seeing the stitch-work being done @7:50, thanks for the zoom in!
I love to see the end product! The soles on these shoes are awesome! Love the colour and the two tone heels!
I liked the video. You let the work speak for itself. A great transformation. Sometimes you just want a cookie and other times you want the whole cake. This was a nice cookie.
Great work Steve 👍.
Love the stitching job on the soles with the blue thread.
Another great job Steve. I really did not think that the right shoe toecap could have been brought back to the great shape it is in now. Sorry I meant left toecap.
Man I would love to do this sort of thing myself unfortunately no shops are just gonna train a person and there aren't even schools that teach this anymore. I guess I'm just gonna buy a few hand tools and try doing it on my own stuff. If the professionals themselves don't care about their craft dying out just so they have less competition then that's their own fault. Good thing people like you still exist.
Rather than immediately try it on your own footwear, you could try looking around some thriftstores and seeing if you can find some old goodyear-welted dress shoes or something similar to use as learning projects.
If I may be so bold, may I suggest contacting local shops and see if they'd be willing to take you on and train you? Two years ago, my then 19-year-old nephew was bored out of his mind what with the lockdown and pretty depressed about his first year of college completely cancelled; missing his friends, etc. He spent hours a day just watching youtube or playing video games until he found Bedo's Leatherworks videos and was entranced, which led him to binge watching every other shoe repair related channel he could.
Wanting to try shoe repair himself "just to see if it's as cool as it looks", I reached out to neighbors and friends and we collected about a dozen pairs of very worn, old, ready for trash can shoes and with no tools other than typical household tools (and me teaching him how to thread a needle and basic sewing stitches), he started taking shoes apart, figuring out how they were put together, rewatched videos, and even managed to do a surprisingly serviceable repairs to two pairs of shoes that had uppers separated at seams.
Anyways, after about three months, he approached me asking if I could help him get some "proper" leather working tools - "I'm digging this and I want to do more!" I took him into town and took him to the only shoe repair and leatherworks shop in our county, saying to him "let's ask an expert what tools would be good for starting." While lockdown had ended, most shops were still very limited in how many people could enter and masks were still required, so we had to wait outside for almost an hour until we could enter. LOTS of people had been bringing in shoes and purses to get repaired! Anyways, we go in and my nephews eyes just got as big as saucers looking around, I kept seeing him simply *inhaling* the smell of the place.
I nudge my nephew to pay attention to the gentleman behind the counter and he gets all tongue-tied. He's literally in awe looking at him wearing a leather apron, hands that look just like Bedo's, it was absolutely amazing. He's a good, gentle young man, but shy is not something I'd ever call him! So I begin to talk on his behalf saying that he's been watching a bunch of videos on shoe repair and trying his hand at it on some old ready-for-trashcan shoes I got from neighbors and friends, and the gentleman (who turned out to be the owner and only worker now) whips his head around to my nephew and starts rapid-fire asking him questions. Whose videos are you watching? What have you done so far? Bunch of questions, then throws a single shoe at him and says name the parts of the shoe. My nephew, shaken out of his stupor, responds quickly to all questions and then names all the parts of the shoes.
Owner crosses his arms across his leather apron, leans back a bit, goes quiet, then says, "when can you start?"
Nephew gets tongue-tied again and owner laughs with this really deep wonderful laugh, says before the pandemic, I barely had enough work to keep one or two employees part time, now I'm overloaded with work and am having to tell people it may be months before I get to their shoes, boots or saddles (this is a rural county, lots of horse owners). I can start you at minimum wage (which is $11.50/hour in my state) and when you're ready to do entire repairs on your own, you'll also get a percentage of the repair cost and we'll discuss higher hourly then. Only thing I insist on is you must never stop asking me questions. If you aren't sure, if you don't know, ask me before you ruin something.
My nephew is still working there; he's been doing shoe repairs on his own entirely now and does almost all the shoe repairs that come into the shop. He's done some boot, leather handbag and trim repairs and "soon", will be ready to do some saddle repairs on his own. He's getting $16 an hour and a percentage of every repair he completes and frankly, he's making more money than me most months!
A few weeks ago, I'd gone into town to do some shopping and decided to drop in and see if my nephew wanted to go to lunch with me. He has his own leather apron now - that he made himself with the help of the owner! - and just looks so confident and assured, mature, and I'm just so freakin' proud of him. Anyways, he went into the back to put away some stuff and grab his jacket to join me for lunch while I chatted with the owner. I said to him that I couldn't thank him enough for giving my nephew a chance, taking him under his wing. Owner smiled at me and said "I knew the minute he walked in he had leather in his blood."
Anyways, learn what you can from videos, play with some old shoes, then go talk to a shop. You never know what may happen!
@@LauraRealLife wow, fantastic. That’s what I would do with my son. My feelings are “if you don’t ask, you’ll never know”. Sounds like your son is a diamond i. The rough. Congratulations
@@LauraRealLife That is an absolutely heartwarming story! Well done to you, your nephew and the shop owner!
@@01100101011100100111 finding a cobbler who will take you on and train you is exactly how you get into doing this yourself. It's really the only good way to do it. Successful and busy cobblers are willing to do that because it's the only way they can get help. A very good cobbler local to me recently advertised for exactly that. There just aren't a ton out there, so you'll have to search.
Hi Steve, I love that model, so I will be waitching your magic all the way
I should’ve sent you my vintage K to work on. Your such a gifted craftsman
I’m used to having your videos interrupted by advertisements, but for the first time ever one was highly relevant, for Barkers Shoes of Northampton.
Really enjoyed video. Thank You.👍👍👍👏👏👏😄😄😄😄
Amazing video. Every time I watch you repair of shoes I learn something. Today, it was using the glass edge to scrape damage from the uppers. Your craftsmanship is inspiring!
Wow, I really enjoyed this one. They came out great. I watched how you made Oscars new shoes look even better but they were in good shape. These shoes needed alot of work and they came out awesome. I'm hooked👌
I love watching the artist at work. Another beautiful restoration Steve.
Thanks for this - I've got a busy day today, I'm full of a cold, and my son's at home sick as well. This is just the medicine to calm me down before I tackle my jobs :)
Bedos you are the best master and person. Always interesting videos. Thanks a lot! Health, happiness and good luck!
Thanx for the video Steve, back logged is a good problem to have.👍
Beautiful work on transforming those shoes.
Upon first inspection, not good Steveroo...! AND, the customer wants them to look like brand new...? LOL...! Nice shoes but they're BEATERS now .... Unreal, but as usual Steve you came about as close as possible...!!! Fantastic job Steveroo...GG
14:08 I was literally thinking about what happens to the nail and he explained 🤣 scared the shit outta me for a sec lol
Beautiful work steve , :)
Nothing like finishing a 13 hour shift and seeing a new video from you. UNTIL YOU DIDN’T SAY HAMMER TIME :( day=ruined.
Just kidding, great work as always!
EDIT: spoke too soon! Hammer time it is!!
Lovely work Steve, great to see this quick video. 👍👍
Great video Steve. I can’t believe what you did….and I’ve just watched you do it. They were really beat up shoes but the finished items were fantastic! I assume that the alcohol you used to clean them up was what you call rubbing alcohol. I think we call it isopropyl alcohol here.
It certainly did the trick. The project looked great at the end.
So you didn’t talk a lot, big deal. It’s not every time one feels sparkly enough to talk all the way thru saying the same stuff.
Your fans will still follow you. I mean how can you not follow you? I’d miss all these great projects.
Shine on Steve
Beautiful job Steve! BETTER than new in my humble opinion.
I get you're busy, Still, it's a pleasure to watch you work. I like how you handled the scars on the right shoe.
Hello sir. I'm good today. I m getting better with my life. I see your doing better the hands didn't shake much. Know that good people love your series educational. Hope god graces you and your family.
Incredible job. Again. Thank you Stepan!
Wonderful workmanship as always.
I have a pair of Allen Edmond Georgetowns that remind me of these shoes. I just love that camel brown color which just goes well with everything in the Summer.
Great work, Steve! Those were beautiful shoes to start with, but you took them to a whole 'nother level! 👍🏻👍🏻👏👏👏
Another great transformation Steve. No worries about the video, just thankful you still found a way to share your artistry with us. Looking forward to the next project.
I love all your work...but these are my faves. You bring the life back into these projects. Amazing!
always exiting to watch you doing a perfect job Steve. Cheers / Karl
Wow Steve this is amazing!! I truly admire your talent! Your videos are fascinating and they give me a glimpse into how things are made.
Fascinating workmanship. I love seeing all the different tools you use. As a sewer, I understand how important the proper tool is for each step. Thank you for all your videos and craftsmanship.
I enjoyed this format :)
Steve! You’re a magician bro!!!
Been a long while since I watched your channel. Don't know why. Now I have to bingewatch all the videos I didn't see. I missed some stuff... you have a second tattoo... 😍 once you start inning yourselve... I know... lol
I just wanna thank you your channel has been very inspiring I’m 2 tools away from being able to rebuild my boots last stands are so hard to find
What a great recovery. No loafing around when the customer opens the box. He will lose no time stepping out in these beauties brought back to a better life..
2nd watching! Love that show. Very Purdy 🥰 ! Shoe Purdy too ! 👍
Miss these
Great job Steve x I think Peal & Co are made by C&J. Was in London recently for the Shoe Super Trunk Show. Was great. Thinking of you while I was there - how much you woild have enjoyed :-)
Regards
Tony
You did an amazing job with them Steve, but I didn't expect anything less from you. You always bring thing back to their original quality and look x
It was a great job Steveo
I never tier watching you attach a welt Such a shame about the manufacturer’s scar on the uppers They looked fabulous when you’d finished the job 👍👍👍
One thing missing from your video is a before-after image compare. So I did my own. And those shoes looked like crap at first. But they sure look good now - plus they have that comfortable worn in element of leather shoes. So, you did a very good job. I would be more than pleased....
They may not look new, but they are better than the day they were born.
Those tired old loafers are lookin' good once again. A shame that someone wasn't paying attention to what they were doing and messed up those uppers like they did. Very nice resurrection there Steve.
Skills as always, sublime, thank you sir .
Thanks Steve 👏👏👏👏👌👍🇬🇧
Greetings from Sierra Vista Arizona. Really enjoy any and all channel content. I'd rather have Bedo's Leatherworks on the soles of my shoes than Florsheim or any other brand.
Amazing restoration!
Always great job
Love your work.
Loved the video even though it was a bit different
Hey, good. Like your work and attitude.

Amazing done with great care
Just as good the second viewing! LOL I love that HAMMER TIME!
Where you been?? Thanks for your videos!!!!!
ASMR was good. just the tap tap tap of the hammer almost put me to sleep, at work no less. Good job. They have the suede and leather repair powder and glue to touch up gouges like that.
Nice job 👍
Great work .
Love the birds
GREAT WORK NO QUESTION BUT HOW MANY PAIRS OF THE SAME WORK CAN YOU DO IN ONE DAY ?
عمل متقن ذو جودة عالية عزالدين من الجزائر العناق
Yes it’s different, but better than no video.
Excellent job - I would have been happy!!
Righteous save!
Wow you must have been busy Steve as you didn't have time to oil the stamping machine, that squeaking was like nails scaping on a blackboard. I would like to be congratulated on my first negative observation. Oh btw those loafers were resuscitated from a faint pulse to a steady beat.
👌
😂
Good content. 👍
I’m glad you’re really backlogged! Even with all the WFH and less demand for dress shoe repairs, you’re popular ☺️
He's Lucky and You're Good!
