The average daily loss figures are misleading as they represent stats from 2 yrs ago. I'd be curious to see a comparison of daily loss averages per year or 6 months period. I remember when 600 casualties was a huge number. That's about half of what we've seen in the last 6 months or so.

    • @sirsmeal3192
      @sirsmeal3192 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Yes, but when those numbers were around 500, the Muscovites had ~200,000 troops on the line. Now they have ~550,000 troops on the front line and 1100 daily losses is a lower percent of losses.

    • @markb8468

When the artillery is on defensive, they have pre-calculated fire points. Can't remember the actual term in English, but basically the drone operator would rely the information like "Enemy convoy A1 in 30 seconds" or something like that, and the artillery guys would have the exact coordinates for this "A1". Also there are some kind of laser targeting functions that give you exact coordinates and speed of movement and systems that can autonomously do the calculations and only require a human to "pull the trigger", because afaik we don't yet let machines make the decision to take a life.

    Hi Jonathan,
I noticed that in your explanation of how Ukrainian drone operators assist artillery targeting, it may have inadvertently portrayed the process as more analog and less sophisticated than it actually is. Let me clarify how the Ukrainian system really works and compare it to how the Russians might still operate.
    How You Described It:
You mentioned that Ukrainian drone operators track targets and predict their future positions, relaying information to artillery units to adjust their aim. This involves calculating where the target will be in 30 seconds, then coordinating artillery fire to hit that predicted location. While this method can be effective, it relies heavily on manual adjustments and has a higher potential for error due to time differences, weather conditions, and shell quality.
    How It Actually Works:
The Ukrainian drone-assisted artillery targeting system is far more modern and reliable:
Real-Time Targeting: Drone operators use a button to mark targets directly. When they press the button, the system displays a lightbulb in the middle of the screen, confirming that the targeting location has been sent.
Automated Adjustments: The computer receives these coordinates and continuously updates the shooting solution based on real-time data, including the target's speed, direction, and environmental factors.
High Precision: This method ensures highly accurate targeting, with constant updates until the round is fired, minimizing the influence of timing differences, weather conditions, and shell quality.
    Comparison with Russian Methods:
Russian artillery tactics often rely on more traditional methods, which can be less precise. They might use similar analog techniques, requiring a higher volume of shells (around 10 to 1) to hit a target due to less accurate predictions and adjustments. This old-fashioned approach contrasts sharply with the modern, concert-like coordination seen in Ukraine's use of drones and advanced targeting systems.
    Modern Warfare:
The Ukrainian system represents a significant leap forward in artillery targeting technology. It’s not a newly found street band improvising on the fly, but rather a well-coordinated concert where every element works in harmony for precise and effective results.
In summary, Ukraine’s modern approach to artillery targeting, leveraging advanced drone technology and real-time data integration, offers a much more reliable and direct method than traditional techniques, highlighting the contrast between their innovative methods and the more dated strategies that might still be in use by Russian forces.
    Best regards,

    33:55 🤔 ... should I, should I not.
Ok. In 2007 aside from test environment virtual machines, running on actually phones been done for app testing and behavior on multilayer from boot to an end user profile even crosslayered over different platforms to provide issue simulation and feedback for the engineering team from a single command unit/app. It was bit a hassle back then but manageable.
Pretty sure nowadays straight feeding into the app and enduser profile maybe even with an AI recognition bot to auto reply should be childplay for them.
I stopped doing that job in 2010. So I'm considered a dinosaur.

There is somebody that fled Russia that might have a similar impact. Somebody that was high ranked and did some stuff with finances. They can shut down the finances of Putin's cabal. This war might be a big step closer to ending and the outlook for Ukraine might be much improved.

As for drones having effective fire control over roads, who was that idiot who got derided for suggesting that Ukraine should be doing exactly this to prevent Avdiivka being over run ?
remember him, copped endless abuse because he was an idiot with no idea about what he was blathering on about .
Well Ukraine ignored the advice and Avdiivak fell
As few as 20 pilots could have made the H20 unusable so those 20,000 russians who drove along the H 20 then flooded down into the city during the final assault would not have been able to do that if they could not use the H20.
The real tragedy is Ukraine could still make the E 50 & H 20 unusable thus preventing the russian advances but they would rather have infantry slaughtered than mount a drone led defence .

I keep looking at these daily stats for vehicles destroyed and casualties and always there is the question of how long can this go on. Surely the Russians are now running short of tanks and guns? Never did I think that we would get to the stage when the Russians have supposedly lost 15,505 Armoured fighting vehicles and still be fighting away on a 600 mile front. They have lost 14,480 pieces of tubed artillery and 8,073 main battle tanks. Can someone please check how many guns and tanks the Russians had at the start of this war? Another aspect of 'missing' Russians. Given the widely accepted corruption within the Russian army at all levels it is perfectly feasible that commanders don't report their KIA or MIA thus theoritically retaining their troop strengths and numbers. This would mean no loss of status and of course extra supplies and ammo which can be sold on the black market. Yes this may seem ridiculous to us but given the behaviour demonstrated thus far, certainly within the bounds of expectation.

You missed the other 2 reasons for not repatriating the bodies
    1) front line commanders being afraid to admit their assault failed so they deliberately lie about the losses
    2) russia pays their troops by sending money to the generals who filter it down to the individual troops, skimming at every level
Now If I am a general and pocketing 3,000 monthly salaries for soldiers who are decease, I become very rich very quick .
And we can assume this is happening from the posts by front line troops when they say the 2 regiment got merged to form a new regiment to be redeployed to the front line .
And this new regiment consisted of 5 troops ,3 from 1 regiment & 2 from another
