What’s the difference between sugar dragon and Voodoo child?
They’re literally the same (hybrid name: S8). Some nursery in California branded S8 as “sugar dragon” while a nursery in Florida branded S8 as “voodoo child”, both for marketing purposes.

I bought a cutting from ETSY. It’s growing great. You’re in SOCAL though, should be easy to find a local vendor there.
I wish I could find this variety in grocery stores. It’s rare to find dragon fruit in stores where I live already, and then when I do find them they are always the white flesh variety that has no flavor. I don’t understand why. They would be much more popular if they got the sweet ones.
They pick them unripened so they don’t go bad, but the problem is while the outside of the fruit ripens the inside doesn’t once it’s picked. White DF actually have flavor (mild compared to yellow/red) I started growing my own, I bought some cuttings and I live in PA so have to bring them indoors in the cold temps. I already have my first flower bud and it happened to come on my sugar dragon!
Do you know what is causing those jelly parts inside the fruit? Is it damage due to press the frute for testing the ripening? Can be fungus botryosphaeria?
