Here is some advice if u running the merchant strat (The most profitable strat in sanctum): The first two floors, you should go for all the pacts, boon shrines, chests and merchants rooms in order to get as many boons as possible. The reason you wanna stack as many boons as possible is that you will later during the sanctum run in floor 3 and 4 get an option to duplicate a reward type from the merchant which allow you to print several divines 🤑. Another tip is when buying boons from the merchant try to go for the “reduced merchant cost” if possible and after that ideally you want “more coins found in the sanctum” boon and also “scrying crystal” boon which allow you to see more rooms in the sanctum. After that I suggest buying any other permanent boons. You wanna go for all the permanent boons first, cause there are some boons that only last a short time when a certain condition is met. For example the “kill 10 guards instantly” boon only lasts until you kill the 10th guard and then the boon disappears. Even tho this strat is the most profitable and fun you really need to have experience in the sanctum, You need to know what affliction will brick your run and you have to be able to not die at all in the sanctum since the unique relic (Gilded chalice) you wanna run with this strat cost about 2.7 divines. You have to use this unique relic everytime you start a sanctum. So I dont suggest running this start unless you have some experience and also have a few divines in the chest in case you fuck up.
To clarify some points: 1. Does taking a permanent boon remove it from the pool? Thus increasing your chances of getting the double reward boon? 2. Is it possible to be offered a double reward boon while you have no "pending" rewards?
Thanks for the tips bro. I've been running the room reveal strat and making a ton of currency. Literally made ~160 divs in like a week (and that's not counting the SUPER lucky drop "The Original Scripture"). This strat looks like fun, but I think I want to get more comfortable with Sanctum before I try it. And I'm a bit scared of using a relic that costs 2.7 divs and and then not finding a single divine in the whole sanctum. It has happened to me a few times, with the Sanctum almost fully revealed.
For the merchant strat the average scenario is.. Find 2 div, dupe it with shop, then the gilded chalice dupes those 2 for total 8 div. Anything else is extra/outside average case. For hour of divinity its same, find 2 div and dupe it once for 4. Thats really the main diff between both strats, merchant is essentially twice better, but slower and higher entry cost (gilded and relics
Great guide for new players. I would recommend to play a very fast movement speed build when farming sanctum. I’m made over two mirrors farming sanctum over the last two weeks. I’m running a power charge stacking Hexblast miner with 250% movement speed and 250 million dps. Build choice is extremely important when farming sanctum in order to maximum profit and reduce time in each sanctum.
Pob for that build? I've been enjoying sanctum but I don't have the best movement speed unless I get the boon for ms. 1st league doing sanctum and I've been enjoying it casually at my own pace. I want to be way faster for next league start.
@beasthaven1571 nah not really. Was just gonna run penance brand of dissipation until I've made enough to invest in flip items or I switch to hexblast mines again. If anything just gonna wait till patch notes for next league drop to finalize a build

nice video :) i’m thinking of giving sanctum a shot because i like roguelike games to begin with and this video gave some useful info and encouragement
big fan of how you mention optimizing fun hahaha. can definitely tell you enjoy the merchant strat by how clearly your expression changed when you started explaining it :D
No buggs found on the guide 😅 Very well synthesized, one day ill be back to the sanctuary. Would have loved to have a more detailed section about the meta builds for sanctum.
Thanks for the vid! What do you think is the best method for someone new to POE to try first (cost not being a factor)? I'm guessing the "alch and go" strat? Also, are melee builds OK for committing to Sanctum?
Hey man, love the vid. I did have a question regarding the merchant strat. Is it really rare to get both mirror of fortune and sacred mirror? I can get mirror of fortune pretty easily after divs but sacred mirror never appears (I've seen it 3 times and none in a stituation where I've gotten it to dup divs). I can't find any info online, in whether it's actually really rare or ppl have a trick to get it every run and I'm playing the strat wrong. Would you have any insight since you said the merchant strat is your favourite strat? Was wondering since maybe uve run it and would know
Just watching this now during settlers, at what point should I swap to merchant from room reveals? I just have 9 single room relics right now, and am wondering if I should invest into double reveals. Are +1 merchant choices too little to warrant a swap? Or should I wait as long as +2 choice w/ discount, or just 2 choices, thanks
Im gonna give my take on it, if you want fun go merchant, if you want consistent divs per hour go invest in double reveals+hour of divinity unique relic. If youre gonna do the hour of divinity, make sure to only pick rewards that gives you divines, no to chaos, no to alchs or anything except divs and mirrors if you get it.
There is only one build that is great for sanctums and it is hexblast mines. Noob friendly, and safe to play for new people. No other build can top it.
I’ve never done sanctum before. What would be a good build for it? Do regular builds fare well in this mechanic? Or is it like Trial of the Ancestors where you had to make specialized void sphere builds? I have a CoC DD inquisitor and a Hexblast Mines trickster, would any of these builds work for sanctum?
The mechanics of sanctum means that damage avoidance (even physically avoiding risk of damage) is king, so build like minions / totems that deal damage at a high distance, where your character can remain safe, are king This is because regardless of your defences, you have a maximum number of hits you can take within a sanctum, so build that face tank, like strike skills for melee, can't reliable do the content unless you are really good at the game.
Generally, it's recommended to run ilvl 83 Sanctums. I haven't done any lower ilvl runs to speak on the returns on those. Something else to consider is that most players who sell tomes generally have a larger supply of ilvl 83 tomes than lower level tomes since they're usually dropped while blasting a ton of T16+ maps
I ran about 10 maps from lvl 73 and up. And probably 50 at lvl 83. I didn’t notice much difference. Still got divines at the low sanctums and they were faster to run. But most end up just being level 83 because that’s what ppl are selling
This running Sanctum with a normal build, if you spec for more speed and damage. You can complete sanctum in 12-15 mins depending on how focus you are. Sanctum is great for people with low time investment into the game and don't want to deal with trading for maps, scarabs and changing atlas tree.
I'm not sure since I haven't tried it. Though if the damage is high enough, a RF Chieftain can theoretically clear Sanctum as well. That being said, I wouldn't recommend it since ranged/minion/totem builds tend to perform better due to their greater ability to dodge things from afar. However, if you are curious about if a melee build really can clear Sanctums, Alkaizer has a video out with his Dual Strike build, and he's farmed quite a lot of Sanctum recently in hardcore.
And extremely end-game geared RF Chieftain can hit ~10M DPS with their fire trap. A budget dedicated sanctum build (eg shockwave totem) can hit 15M DPS with cheap uniques and 1-2 craftable rares. Further Sanctum you want crowd control, of which RF Chieftain has none. I've completed sanctums in prior leagues with an RF character, but it was a struggle.
Amazing video, quick question: for relic quantity, do you need 100% ? Does 75% relic quantity mean you will have a 3/4 chance to drop an additional relic from bosses?
@@junhombre2179 I'm not sure what the actual threshold for the additional unique relic is. I've run between 60-65% and have gotten the additional relic. But whenever I grabbed the Unholy Urn (50% reduced relic effect), it would only drop 1 unique relic. So from this, I could really only say that anything below ~32% quant won't yield the additional drop.
I love this but I feel you missed the things that prevent the average player from leveraging this info. 1. Most of us simply aren’t good enough. We fail a lot of runs. 2. How to beat phase 3 Lycia. Her red wave will cull 90% of players.
1. reality is you need a specalized build, and yeah thats sad, shoot for ~10 million dps, a good budget option could be hexblast Saboteur 2. stand on the outer edge of the map, i recommend running a topaz flask with activation on savage hit, and doing your best to dodge it with enough damage you can level the boss before she even gets to the red wave, so investing in as much damage is the best survivalbility
Very helpful and informative first part 🔥and absolutely useless second part. You can cut down it and lose nothing. It needs at least your minimal comments, why you did this and that, what things to avoid, what things is most important.
Came for a guide to a mechanic, got some description of three farming strategies and test results. No actual explanation of the Sanctum mechanics. Why is this classified as a guide?
The minimum currency is 3div per each run if you doing 2 additional merchant or 2 additional reviews So, actually you are not not doing right Someone can do it 15min, but i do itin 20, depends on your build
A tip from my Comm 101 class back in college, if you're going to give a powerpoint, let it speak for itself. Your audience can read the bullet points just fine, you don't need to read them out for them. Your dialogue should enhance the bullets not read them.
I've had similar advice given to me during school. But based on my experience, the more a speaker deviates from what's presented visually, the more incoherent the presentation becomes. That isn't to say that the audience won't be smart enough to think critically and draw connections between what is being said and what is being presented, but I do value coherence more than how agreeable or convincing my claims are. However, I will also add that I haven't given nearly enough presentations to conclude what should actually be best practice. If I really had to guess - an excellent presentation probably has something to do with including more images and fewer words, which is what might allow the slide deck to "speak for itself" while the audience can follow along with the words coming from the speaker.
Best way to farm sanctum. Step 1: fucking don’t. Sanctum is single-handedly the worst way in the game to make any currency. You do these runs and you get fuck all for them most of the time. They take an exorbitant amount of time for the laughably bad rewards. The only thing worth farming in there is something only like 1% of the community is even capable of farming with any amount of consistency. And if you die, it’s done, you get nothing you LOSE! At least in maps you get 6 portals. Inb4 dumb asses with “skill issue” comments. Yeah, I know. Which is just part of the problem. Way too much “skill” required for the laughably bad returns. 32 divines in 10 sanctums is NOT normal. Don’t expect to get that even if you complete it, let alone if you don’t. The duping strategy relies heavily on stacking RNG components. You have to A get divines to drop as a reward. Slightly uncommon. Then you have to get the dupe things (over and over) then you have to hope the rest of the sanctum is doable and you don’t randomly get one shot. The mechanic completely nullifies a normal and viable means of damage mitigation and play style. And then the afflictions are way overturned and completely outweigh the boons. Honestly, if the afflictions would just not be part of the mechanic then it would be far more viable. List completely an ass method to make any money. Takes forever to do. And doesn’t give incremental ANYTHING. There is no building up. If you can do some but not all, you get NOTHING.
Sanctum is great. For ssf it's easy raw divines, and for trade it allows you to amass currency that doesn't require bulk trading with a third party or liquidating a bunch of scraps. A lot of these 15+ d/h farms include a dregs nobody will ever bother selling, further lowering your profits due to the time needed to sell them. Sanctum may not be king of d/h, but it's hassle free.
this is the best league starter better than Heist. 5 hours in getting a chunky 20 divs first day you can buy a LOT of things that scale up to 100 divs in 5 days.

A lot of these 15+ d/h farms include a dregs nobody will ever bother selling, further lowering your profits due to the time needed to sell them. Sanctum may not be king of d/h, but it's hassle free.
sanctum was sadly the worst poe content I ever tried
With all the respect...Asian-looking guy named Victor? What happened? What are your roots?:)
sextant dead=sanctum dead. 7div/h for 20min sanctum runn rly low. Wait something on ggg, now farm so broken.
this is the best league starter better than Heist. 5 hours in getting a chunky 20 divs first day you can buy a LOT of things that scale up to 100 divs in 5 days.
4 hr. for 32 Divine that’s insane too slow 1 hr. I got 20 Divine++
how do you get 20+ divines per hour?
@TheVictor003 In sanctum? He doesn't, not on average. I'd love to see a wealthy exile for that.
