    this is so brilliant i love the concept of a backend to hold + assemble + view everything at once and then seperate pages for what's needed, so neat! also ur instruction was so clear i even felt like i knew more about formula creation, relations and rollups by the end of it thankyou!

    Bruh you should create more of these notion videos, the way you explain is just so super clear and easy to follow without getting all geeky like those other notion geeks.

    This is the most amazing guide I have ever ever watched. Thank you!!! My husband and I have a little less than a year married, and it has been hell for us to organize our kitchen and meals, but this is great. We saw your guide today and we decided to try it. We spent less than 20 mins setting everything up and spent another 20 mins making schedules, assigning categories to the food like this is for lunch, this is dessert, this is breakfast etc. your guidance has been brilliant. I cant thank you enough. I wish you would make more guides of the usefull stuff you have come across while using notion. We’d like to learn more!

    Best tutorial video on the topic there is.
    As a beginner you seriously helped me out a lot.
    I don't know if other people are too advanced into notion to explain things easy and understandable...
    But you certainly did! Keep up the good work mate!

    Thanks for a brilliant and very clear explanation! I had managed to link my grocery database to my recipes and meal plan but just couldn’t get past that last step of not wanting items in the pantry on the shopping list and you have provided the solution! Thanks again

    I am new to notion and SO THANKFUL I found this video! You explained things so well! Things were titled a bit different and in different places than they were in the video due to it now being 2 years later and I’m sure they have done updates, but I was able to figure it out.
    Thank you for making this!

    Is there a way, the grocery list generates the total of items/ measurements from the recipes?

      I might try to do something like this. The tricky part is if you have to do unit conversions like if a recipe calls for one cup of flour and another recipe calls for two tablespoons of flour. But I might try showing a simple addition to the meal planner that adds whole units like "1 apple" + "2 apple" = "3 apples" or something like that.

    Thank you for this tutorial, it's very easy to follow and clear! I wonder what if you need more than one instance of a particular grocery item. In your example, the teriyaki souce was for Monday and Tuesday, but if it was like chicken breast or carrots, that are necessary for multiple recipes - how would you go about that?

    Very very nice. Thanks a lot. What about: How many salmon do I have to buy, when Teriyaki salmon is on the Weekly plan for let´s say 4 persons? I´d like to have it on my shopping list but struggle to get it done in a simple way. And how would you put in nutrition information for a meal (at least for kcal)?

    Cool, but I was looking for a way to create a shopping list with both ingredients from recipes but also other stuff I need to buy. And want that database with all that stuff so when I add a row to the shopping list it will autosuggest when I'm typing and then I add that. But seems that Notation doesn't support that autosuggest feature. Right?

  • @ateliercarousel
    @ateliercarousel ปีที่แล้ว

    I keep having the issue you mentioned. If I add recipes to the weekly plan, then the relations are not updated. The day of the week is not showing up in the related column in recipes, and not showing up in the related column in ingredients. And the shopping list is not updating either. I've waited a while and was reloading several times, but nothing happened. Were you able to figure out why some databases won't update?

    • @ateliercarousel
      @ateliercarousel ปีที่แล้ว

      I recreated a testpage just now, and followed the steps exactly one more time, and again the entries were not there, and then I could literally see that in the related columns, suddenly entries were dropping in. Not all of them, more like in small, random chunks. So it definitely is a problem with Notion. That is a big problem for beginners. I guess one always has to wait an hour, or maybe longer, to see if entries come in, to check if a setup is correct. Not ideal, but at least it shows that the fault is not with the user.

    Pleeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaase do one more video where you show how to add a column that contains the AMOUNT of an ingredient, and how to add that to each recipe, and how that then shows up on the shopping list. This is probably super easy if someone can code, but I simply don't get it.

    • @robdodson8823
      @robdodson8823  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've thought about doing something like this but it's a little tricky because you might need to do unit conversion. For example, a recipe might call for a cup of flour and another one might call for two tablespoons of flour. But I could try to do something simple that just adds whole units like "1 apple" + "2 apple" as a start?

    • @ateliercarousel
      @ateliercarousel ปีที่แล้ว

      @@robdodson8823 Hi Rob, thanks so much for your reply. It's absolutely tricky. Not sure that the 'piece' amount (1 apple, 1 avocado etc) would be a realistic example because it is so rare. Most items in the supermarket are paid via weight. What really messes me up is when a recipe calls for, let's say, 250ml cream, and I might have 120ml at home. So is that in the pantry, yes or no? And yes, the amounts. I thought about that spoon vs. cup vs. ml problem. I guess the more professional cooks replace cups and spoons with real amounts. I would rather throw out the spoons and cups in order to have those amounts in order.
      I just looked up spoon and cup amounts. Jesus Christ. I guess one would then have to decide on a country first:
      "A US tablespoon is 14.8 ml (0.50 US fl oz), a UK, Europe and Canadian tablespoon is 15 ml (0.51 US fl oz), and an Australian tablespoon is 20 ml (0.68 US fl oz)."
      1 US cup = 240 ml whereas 1 European/AU cup is = 250ml
      Oh man, anyway, I'm not a developer, so this video really helped me understand the basic setup. But I am stuck with the next step of making this really usable in the store in regards to amounts of stuff needed for recipes. I'm also not really a good cook, so... (eyeroll). Are you using this for your own mealplanning? Would you be intrigued to build this more advanced version and share it?
      Thanks again. In any case, this video is very awesome already. Thanks for making it.
