The worst part is Edmond is bringing there worst to settle Yukon. This town was a great town 20, 30 years ago. It was the getaway from the city to have a nice house and raise a family with a 15 min drive to work type of town. Now private investors and outsiders have destroyed this place and priced the people and next gen out of town. Only time will tell of its future. The building up of this state and town will set it on the same path of others that have over commercialised and ruined what was originally a beautiful thing.
We need more lower income labor so please move in just keep in mind the working homeless population is growing fast . You may need two jobs or three and that doesn't mean you will be able to pay your bills.

Substitute teachers get $50 in rural areas vs Oregon is at $200. It's cheaper, but harder to find legit subcontractors and basic handymen. Less gvnmnt regs equal more people taking advantage and say they're qualified when they are not. Come, but be careful with a buyer real estate agents. (Most are shady too.)
Don’t do it! We moved here two years ago and HATE IT. We are conservative, so it is not a political thing. Love Oklahoma. Low Crime. Conservative state. Great place to raise a family. Lots of lakes, places to fish, hunt and awesome place to purchase land. No traffic. Centrally located.
Reading the myriad comments here, there is an expectation gap which could be summed up between urban upbringing versus a rural or small town one. Take it from this simple lens, Oklahoma is a predominantly rural agricultural state with a small population and only one major non-ag industry - oil and gas. As a state it cannot compete as an economy of scale. Ag states cannot compete against industrialized states in terms of economics, and the population is more dispersed between rural and urban than other states. Currently, 94% of Californians live in urban areas, but only 59% in Oklahoma do. That changes the states ability to concentrate funding for services and changes voting outcomes by comparison. Rural states will never compete with coastal seaport states economically, so it is unreasonable to expect comparatively good funding to educator wages, and social and welfare services. As well, there cannot be diverse food and entertainment sectors without concentrated populations with sufficient wealth to support them. If you are looking to move to an economically limited rural state like Oklahoma then scale your expectations accordingly.
Subscribing. As the world gets more and more disastrous I think local hubs like these will be important, not just for real estate, but for informing the public from the ground up (rather than top down).
The cities are hard to handle. The country is beautiful and not many people and services. If you like country living miles from any cities, it is great. If you are a city person good luck. Bad drivers and gangs in them. Drug use is high here too. There is a marijuana dispensary on about every street. Do not piss off the natives, everyone has guns. We are a very polite society because of that. It is a poor state, but it keeps its government in budget. The people are not a place for BLM or LGBTQQ stuff in their schools or city streets. Stay where you are if that is your thing.
I have lived other places and am now back in Oklahoma People are moving here bc low cost of living I would have never moved back if not for a family emergency It is a very closed society There are cliques that run the state Steeped in ignorance and if you aren't 'in' they will never let you succeed Which is really a sign of lack of emotional maturity by those in power The state is consistently top 10 for all social ills esp mental illness The culture creates it Poor, broken people are easier to manage
I left crappy New York after leaving crappy California and wound up in wonderful Oklahoma and I wouldn't live any other place else. I find that transplants want to bring their crappy politics with them. They don't have the smarts to figure out why they moved to Oklahoma in the first place.
Don't come for the climate. Usual summer has several days over 100°F. Also there are cold snaps in winter, with wind chills down to -20°F occasionally.
While housing is more affordable in comparison with other U.S. states, the prices of goods, services, and taxes in food are very high. I kind of disagree with this video. Also, the school districts are ranked of one of the worst in the U.S. Unless, your job is near Edmond; where education is average (it is not good), Education in Oklahoma is bad. People tend to be welcoming but not that much to immigrants (be mindful of that). The most challenging part is getting medical access. To get an appointment even with the best health insurance, it can take forever or they can deny you if you have a foreign accent. They are many good things about living in Oklahoma. You can have a very peaceful life, but be mindful of the good, the bad, and the ugly!
Oklahoma is a place that will test human talerence with the weather alone. It can become insainly hot to cold in a few hours out here. Also the allegences are on a whole another level when compared to other places. If you cant handle even this... Stay away.
Moved here from Texas six years ago. Worst mistake ever. Boring. No scenery! Did I mention boring. It's so flat here you can see your dog run away for two weeks. Hot! Dirt is as red as Mars! Wind never stops blowing! I could go on and on!
Bought a house here in 2022, came from Arkansas, I work remote and grow my own cannabis now, so many are moving for cannabis see if that gets mentioned
@robbiejk9613 that doesn't have any thing to do with people moving here to grow their own cannabis for themselves, or how the supply and demand here is better than other states, which would still make people move here
I'd have to say in my opinion of where I live and primarily work, my experience is very different. Many of my clients have shared similar opinions as well, as many of them have moved from out of state. I'm sorry you've had a bad experience.
Sometimes a change in location doesn't help. People want to get away from the bad things but it doesn't occur to them the problem is within themselves not geography. If you or your family are involved in crime, drugs, and an immoral lifestyle that will be the same wherever you go. Take an honest look at yourself and your family to see if that is true for you. Consider just fixing yourself and your family and staying where you are.
Depends on what part of Oklahoma you are living in and what city your comparing it to. If you compare OKC to L.A. then rent is much cheaper. But if your comparing OKC to a rural town in middle of nowhere Cali then yes OKC is more. But if you move to middle of nowhere Oklahoma then buying a house becomes soo cheap its insane.
When we drive up to Tulsa from Durant there are so many Texas license plates in Oklahoma that it’s sickening. Lol. Texas stinks. Texas state bird is the parking lot birds that screech. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I owned a semi from 1996 to 2013, I would go to northeast quite a bit, I would talk to locals while there, I would bring up property taxes they would be paying more than $10,000 or more a year, I would tell them I own 2 1/2 acres and a 1200 square foot house we had built in 1988, last time a gentleman told me his property taxes were a little over $18,000 a year, I always had a copy of my current taxes, at the time it $198.00 a year, he just shook his head and walked off 😏
It cheap because the pay is peanuts. I moved to Oklahoma from Texas due to a work transfer. Big mistake, Texas is way better. But again thats just my opinion.

From what I see most commonly in Edmond/OKC, homeowners insurance hovers around 1%- 1.5%. There are a TON of factors that affect this so it’s not an exact percentage, but that’s usually the number I give people to help them figure out cost
As to WHY people are moving to Oklahoma: #1 with Global Climate Change and Sea Level Rise the population is starting to figure out they want to be at least one thousand miles away from the coast line; Gulf Coast, Eastern Seaboard and West Coast Western Seaboard. People are moving just like the flora and fauna - away from the known observable dangers. When you look at the projections of habitual areas Oklahoma remains in that belt of human survivalbility. Granted if all the Ice melts then Ultimately Oklahoma will again border a inland sea, again becoming largely a brackish swamp as it was in the Cretaceous.
Oh all 50 states, if you asked me which state I would NOT live in, it would be Oklahoma. It's one of the poorest states in the country. Education is terrible. Nothing to do. No jobs. Low wages. And most importantly, if you live in Oklahoma, it's only a matter of time before a tornado tears your house apart. Honestly, I thought the only reason people lived there was that they were too poor to relocate. There is nothing in Oklahoma you can't get in another state that isn't in tornado alley. Screw that. And "Southern Hospitality is a myth. Every state has their share of good people who are willing to help out their neighbors. This is NOT something limited to Southern states at all. Also...if you like good cuisine, avoid ALL red states. They can't even make a decent pizza.
While ( life long okie 😅) I can’t argue with much of your statement, would like to point out that that it hasn’t always been red, and still hope for blue again..
It's a trap! Once oklahoma has you in its clutches one becomes cursed unable to move from this state. I was going to move to Colorado with my best friend and boom he died, I actually found him dead. So that was enlightening... i was talking about moving to Kansas with my friends and stay with our buddy mom whom I found dead and boom I got arrested in Kansas. There's a curse upon these lands I tell ya. Its like a spiders web with the final destination story line, with death waiting to snatch you up at any given time. I almost died in 2012. Idk if I'm fortunate that I survived or not yet.
I moved from Cali to Ok as a kid long ago. I promise you that I will never do that again. Low crime? Thats fancy words for 'its boring here'. Cheap land? That's cuz its flat and boring!
Ever been to America's largest Casino? Went sand dune jumping on rented 4 wheelers then Watched the stars in the desert night sky? Kayaked a river to a 70 foot waterfall then take a selfie? Stand on the edge of a cliff and look out to the Ozark mountains? Attended a Native American celebration? Watch salt crystals grow right before your eyes at the flats around Gloss Mountain? Played with a baby Tiger in a petting zoo, or watched wild mustang chase the sunset... Maybe, just maybe, the thing that hold people back from having fun in Oklahoma is they just don't know what the locals know :)
@@DoubleTapShooter Like I said, I promise you I will never move from Cali to OK as a kid again. That stuff isnt that hard to find, but I had a head start as an Eagle scout about 30 years ago. But since you mentioned it... ever seen trees as tall as mountains or a desert as far as the eye can see? Ever seen monarch butterflies migrate like a giant cloud or a beach made of pebbles? Or have a marlin pull your boat and a manatee follow you? How about surfing or skiing? Have you seen the golden gate bridge at night? What about having your pick of concert or event to go to and some of the worlds best of everything from theme parks to nature reserves. Yeah, the stereotype of OK being boring was part of the sarcasm, but it pales in comparison to the beauty and things to do in Cali by a long shot. As a business owner, I have come to realize that its the people and opportunities that make Ok unique. Honestly, the scenery sucks and it is more boring than other states though. But I'll never forget watching a sunrise form the top of the devon tower while taking a siesta at 6m
@jwells3315 that's wrong! For the most part people here don't spend money on flashy crap. I know people making 6 and 7 figures driving nothing special vehicles for example. A few are doing business around the world as well as nationally. A number have more than one house including in other states. A lot of people here are practical with their money and don't waste it on non sensical things just to say they have them.
I lived in Oklahoma for 15 years. My brother still lives in Oklahoma City, and most of his neighbors now are from California ,Washington, or the East Coast . It has really changed changed since I lived there. A lot of growth in population and business in the metropolitan area, especially in the downtown. I liked Oklahoma City. The weather is hit and miss, but all around, it's pretty good.
We have good politicians, once bought they stay bought (sometimes pennies on the dollar) wholly owned out-of-state as subsidiaries of Koch (KS), Crowe (TX), where all of ALEC legislation is implemented, constitutional issues like Abortion, Church & State, Single party rule, are litigated to the SCOTUS (all on whats left of the the Oklahoma Taxpayer "Tax Cuts and subsequent Budget Cuts dime). A place where the DHS have clients living in cardboard boxes that are refused Medicare / 'Soonercare' (love those "Block Grants"). - Rapidly on the way to single party (Republican Christian Nationalist) rule of the local, county, state, and Federal Legislatures, Executives, Judiciary; from the local school board to the Governor. Modern Pharisees on the airways and street corners. Mammon Worshipers baring False Witness promoting insurrection, exuding godlessness even as they self proclaim their piety. Greater good? The "Commons"? Follow the Money! Anything that serves the population is labeled Socialism! Survival of the richest - only the little people pay taxes! Your Tax Cuts at work! - Ever wonder where that bully in Grade School, Junior High and High School who liked to beat up the weaker kids and stuff kids in lockers finds employment? Look no further than a employee in your local law enforcement agencies, legislature, judiciary or other positions of power!
I don’t think my channel is convincing many people to move to Oklahoma. It’s more about providing useful information to the people who have already decided to move.
😂😂 while im right there with you, well i dont despise the channel. If only there was a way to limit the video to only people living in Oklahoma already, thatd be cool! I have to disagree, however. That title *definitely belongs* to Nichols Hills residents.
We have fewer idiots per square mile than most other states! 😂😂😂
Only due to the low population density.
@@johnvesper989 Our population is not dense, well not all of us! 😂😂😂
Oklahoma ranks 48 in education....... People are not the brightest here.....
Quit telling people wtf u want cali?

You may need two jobs or three and that doesn't mean you will be able to pay your bills.
I have a 5200 SQ Ft home on 1.4 acres, 20 miles from downtown Tulsa, with a shop in the back yard... It's all electric, with a $325 Level Pay, per month... it is $520,000 It is in great Condition. It has 3 bedrooms (that are 25 ft square or bigger) , 3 full Baths, It could be 4 baths, real easy. The family room is 35 x 45..
Go to Texas, especially Austin, you definitely want to move there....Edmond is so hot and crowded.......We get tornadoes there everyday!
Don’t do it! We moved here two years ago and HATE IT. We are conservative, so it is not a political thing. The weather sucks, the taxes are very high, our utilities are high, the people are very rude. “ If you are not from here you are not welcome. “ - I’m from Idaho. I wasn’t a threat. I’m selling my house and am going back west. This is a nightmare. Also, I’ve seen a lot of Californians moving here. Good luck with that. They ruined Idaho.
Oklahoma isn’t for everyone, and I’m sorry you had a bad experience. Best of luck with your move back home.
Love Oklahoma. Low Crime. Conservative state. Great place to raise a family. Lots of lakes, places to fish, hunt and awesome place to purchase land. No traffic. Centrally located.
Stop telling people these things please please please please please please please
Love the no traffic part of this! Especially when I go visit other states where the traffic is CRAZY!
The state seems to be filled with potheads and polygamists.
Awesome i might consider moving there now 😂

Last weekend we had 1:00 am tornado sirens going off in November. So yeah be ready to jump anytime into a tornado shelter if your lucky to have one.
Subscribing. As the world gets more and more disastrous I think local hubs like these will be important, not just for real estate, but for informing the public from the ground up (rather than top down).
I agree I live in Oklahoma. Hot as f*** in the summer cold as hell in the winter and boring.
Rattle snakes are falling out of the trees around here. For best for your families safety stay away!
I have lived other places and am now back in Oklahoma
People are moving here bc low cost of living
I would have never moved back if not for a family emergency
It is a very closed society
There are cliques that run the state
Steeped in ignorance and if you aren't 'in' they will never let you succeed
Which is really a sign of lack of emotional maturity by those in power
The state is consistently top 10 for all social ills esp mental illness
The culture creates it
Poor, broken people are easier to manage
I left crappy New York after leaving crappy California and wound up in wonderful Oklahoma and I wouldn't live any other place else. I find that transplants want to bring their crappy politics with them. They don't have the smarts to figure out why they moved to Oklahoma in the first place.
Just to let you all know....Edmond, Ok is basically the Beverly Hills of Oklahoma.
Edmond grew far too fast for the infrastructure to keep up. In my opinion it ruined the town.
We checked out Edmond and found that it's to crowded, to many people moving there. Traffic is bad too.
Please don't move to Oklahoma, Texas is way better
Don't come. We don't want any. Lol
Buhhhbye
I'm moving to Oklahoma, because the large cities in Texas have turned into a pile of shit.
I live in Texas, work in Oklahoma. Number one reason I won't relocate to Ok. STATE INCOME TAX
So I guess you love the extra high TX property taxes.

Stay away.
Can't wait to move back home to Oklahoma. I hate Houston. 😢
I miss my trees tho
@robbiejk9613 that doesn't have any thing to do with people moving here to grow their own cannabis for themselves, or how the supply and demand here is better than other states, which would still make people move here
Terrible place to live. Traffic is crazy. Ganges and homeless people every.
The rent in Oklahoma is high stop with the bullshit
Depends on what part of Oklahoma you are living in and what city your comparing it to. If you compare OKC to L.A. then rent is much cheaper. But if your comparing OKC to a rural town in middle of nowhere Cali then yes OKC is more. But if you move to middle of nowhere Oklahoma then buying a house becomes soo cheap its insane.
When we drive up to Tulsa from Durant there are so many Texas license plates in Oklahoma that it’s sickening. Lol. Texas stinks. Texas state bird is the parking lot birds that screech. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The floor creeks, the roof leaks, theres a terrible draft! Please let me finish, the summers are hot! The winters are brutal! Theres a wild man eating clam in the back yard! 😂

What's the average cost of homeowners insurance in edmond for a $300,000 home ?
400k lol
From what I see most commonly in Edmond/OKC, homeowners insurance hovers around 1%- 1.5%. There are a TON of factors that affect this so it’s not an exact percentage, but that’s usually the number I give people to help them figure out cost
We gave tornadoes almost every day. Don't move here!
You need to make a video about not to move to Moore Oklahoma
I wonder how many of us in the comment know each other!?!?! We should rally and make smear campaigns and convince people not to move here!
It's true. I bought my house in guthrie due to prices
The Prison State
Oh all 50 states, if you asked me which state I would NOT live in, it would be Oklahoma.
You must be too poor to move!!!! and it sounds like you must be a dem, they always miserable never happy. Find something you enjoy,
While ( life long okie 😅) I can’t argue with much of your statement, would like to point out that that it hasn’t always been red, and still hope for blue again..

Oof why they dont want to move is this habitual super tinder user theyre all like that cant even date anyone in oklahoma

A lot of people here are practical with their money and don't waste it on non sensical things just to say they have them.
Why you say? Oklahoma is paying entrepreneurs bonus money to help start their businesses. That's it in a nutshell
I lived in Oklahoma for 15 years. My brother still lives in Oklahoma City, and most of his neighbors now are from California ,Washington, or the East Coast .
