They said that this had been a problem for a while and they decided to stop “kicking the can down the road”, but quite a few of these characters came out after GLs were already in the game. Something just feels strange about all of this.
If they're going to massively weaken the non-galactic legend characters then they need to separate the player base so that people who don't have galactic legends, never have to go against opponents with galactic legends until they actually unlock one. Vice versa with players who do have galactic legends.
Only problem is... what if I only ever go for 1 GL? If my opponent has 2 I'm still screwed. So essentially you either have to farm for only GLs or no GLs 🤷♀️
@@black4432 I started my SLKR journey around the beggining of the year. Three characters still yet to get geared up. Getting two at the same time seems like it won't work.
Man, it’s early… but this road ahead has me contemplating whether it’s even worth it to continue the grind. The gear crunch is terrible. Why spend time and energy FTP gearing up a character that is only going to be nerfed? There’s little to no incentive.
@Anakin Skywalker galactic legends having counters isn’t a bad thing whatsoever. Just the fact they force others to build a specific team to have a chance should show how strong they are. The counters did nothing to undermine the strength of them and effort put into getting them. CG have put money before health, to nobody’s surprise, because they wanted them to be what you’re currently thinking they should be, unkillable titans.

Can’t wait to get those refunds for Thrawn, Vader, Imp Troopers, and Moff Gideon. Oh, what was that? You only get a refund for relic 8s that a lot if f2p players don’t have anyways. Wow so glad I g13 and zetad a bunch of characters for no reason instead of getting a GL and just bloated my GP to fight more GLs when I can no longer beat them…

So they can better than F2P. If tomorrow you said to all the whales..ok we are going take you all and put all of on your own shard..all of you will be fight for not just the top ~10 spots in arena but now the top 10000 with all the other whales and from now on in GAC you will only fight other whales at your same spending category..I guarantee you most would quit in no time...whales pay to better than others..they aren’t paying for the polygons...

This separation of GLs from the pack is going to screw people in GAC and make it less interesting. Finding crazy counters is one of the best parts of the game. Quite upset to see them do this.
Im complete f2p and have 3 gls, but that caus ive played (grinded hard) the game since day 1. But i still need these other non GL-counters i need when facing players with 4-5 gls in my GAC matchup so this sucks
It means that both players will have to put all of their GLs on defense and thus neither will be able to full clear because you won't be able to beat them without the GLs that you have placed on defense
This new changes basically turn this game into 2 separate games. There’s the GL/Whale game and the everyone else game. It’s such a satisfying feeling to defeat a GL with a non-GL team and they’re destroying that fun factor entirely. This is going to turn away a lot of people from this game if they go through with these changes
Multiple people have said this and I finally decided to add a comment. Yes I 100% agree. Now making it so that you must have a GL to beat a GL makes the game much less fun and interesting.
@@Dave-mf6tj If that Ford is upgraded and tuned like crazy it is faster (and still cheaper). I have a massive GL advantage with my SLKR in GAC. Encountered almost no other GLs so far. It would be boring I can be certain to win everytime. It takes from the satisfying feeling for both attacker and defender teams imho. Almost got Luke as well, after that it would be extremely boring, just blocking both ways and winning some easy battles with GAS, Malak,...
@@Dave-mf6tj Yes but at this point they'd have to make some adjustments to modes like GA and territory wars because if someone without a GL got paired against someone with one, or one guild with more against another with less, the person or guild with more GL's just has to stick all of their GL's on D and they've won. @@Dave-mf6tj I'm not whining and I don't think that most people here are. We are simply expressing our opinions and are just worried about how it's going to affect our game. And you say we are both given 5000 dollars, right? Well, unfortunately no one is given any money to spend in this game. It's whatever you decide to spend or not to spend. And many people cannot afford, or simply choose not, to spend. If someone simply took a different farming path than me and went for a GL before I did (both not whaling in this case), I can accept that. But if I, someone who chooses not to spend any money, were to get paired up against someone who had whaled on a GL or 2, that's not fair matchmaking. I'm not very well versed in how Swgoh matchmaking works, but if it's not already based off of similar rosters as well as GP rather than GP alone, then they should do some adjusting to that to make it more balanced. Everyone should have an equal chance at beating each other. Before these changes that could be the case even if someone had a GL advantage where it might not be the case after. That's all I'm saying.

To be fair I’m no whale or top tier meta player but they’ve seemed very user friendly the last few months to even a year. This is super reminiscent of the period right after Carrie left where they just pulled gates out of their ass for no good reason other than to basically piss people off really in the name of “progression” or whatever. TLDR: it seemed like they were on the right path to building a good relationship with the player base again, and then ruined it for revenue…which is not out of character but hasn’t seemed to be their sole focus in some time

Honestly my biggest problem is that they’re now gating ships behind relic 8, which is just so absurd. The percent of people that can even access relic 8, let alone afford to spend it on units like Boba, is insanely low.
For the love of god, there better be a massive gear economy update as well as a mods overhaul because it’s just broken right now. I really hope the devs aren’t clueless because every player knows that it needs to be updated
Never ever since I started playing this game have i wasted a single tought on quitting the game. Now reading these news they´ve officialy made it possible that I think it´ll be possible that I might quit the game in the near future
Same here. I've played since launch, and don't mind spending, but this bs ruins any strategy the game had. It's a game killer. I'm not spending another dime, and if I cant stay competitive, I'm done.

I've been playing for about 2 months and have been enjoying getting into the game. I've found a guild who has been supportive in helping out a noob and is fun to hang out with. I believe in supporting companies who make products I enjoy, and have spent some money on packs in the shop that seemed worthwhile. However, I despise how outright abusive many companies are, especially in the mobile space, with their microtransaction prices. You'd have thought EA would remember the uproar around how poorly the SWTOR F2P conversion was initially received, but I guess that's all in distant memory now and all that matters is the greed of the bean counters. If they're telling me that I'm never going to compete in the endgame without dropping hundreds (realistically thousands) of dollars, what incentive do I have to keep playing? I'll go get my Star Wars gaming fix from Fallen Order ($60 complete package), Squadrons ($40 complete package!!!), or even back to SWTOR where a $15/month subscription is infinitely more palleatable than this garbage. Sorry, mobile gouging rant over.

Getting so sick of farming towards GL characters while investing GAS, Sith Empire, Resistance and other squads so I can take a balanced approach towards all game modes, just to have CG pull this crap. Seriously, what is the point of this game anymore?
They could’ve just added a clause to the galactic legend uniques: “if there are no gls on the opposing team x, y, z” literally would be so much better and easier. Still horrid regardless

Very uncool. Talking about healthy changes in-game where there are totally overpowered Galactic Legends exist alongside Coruscant Underworld police character. The game is very unbalanced as it is. Making GL's impossible to counter with regular characters it's just making it more unbalanced.

I just feel sad and frustrated right now, 7 months in, just got Geo squad to Wat shard standard, just got JKR last month and aiming for DR, now I feels like I have to rush GL or else someone whom chased GL since the start gonna beat me no matter what in GAC

I stopped playing about 4 months ago and havent looked back. I keep up with the admiral however and watch these news videos from time to time. The gear grind is just so absurd. Realising how long its going to take me to get 1 let alone 2 of the many(6 now including lord vadar?) GLs just turned me off
@@liamlindsay6082 every single person who has quit has never felt the draw to return, at least as far as I’ve seen. I’m basically there but I still get on every few weeks or so, mainly as a sunk cost thing I guess in terms of time investment. As someone with >5M GP I’ve still yet to complete even normal conquest just because I have other things I want to spend my time on. But I 100% agree I still watch ahnald’s streams and can follow along, if nothing else other than for background noise or just to be plugged into the community. I don’t care about the game at all anymore but don’t feel any animosity towards it either

Yeah same, I just spent like 7 months grinding out JKL because he’s my favorite character from Star Wars. And now all my efforts are down the drain. I’ve been farming up for JML also, but now I want to stay away from any GL, maybe even the game, out of spite for CG
this is probably a pretty small thing but if gas’ changes also apply to his event i kinda feel like you need full relics on the team to beat his final tier since he only needs to have 5 turns taken instead of 10 and you have to burn through even more protection
I disagree, this has been said multiple times in the past and it’s never been fulfilled. I don’t agree with the changes at all but your statement is also pretty extreme. I feel if anything the hardcore players will log on less and the casual players might just lose interest altogether but whales will be whales and CG will get their revenue. As much as I love watching ahnald it’s no secret that as long as he’s drawing attention to the game there will always be an audience to be attracted to it and therefore spend (hopefully within their means but spend nonetheless)
I do that for almost a year now. Quit the game, and just stick around the Kyber Club! Kudos to AhnaldT for holding out, and I am sad to see His high energy going into this growing-pile-of-manure pay-game! We love Star Wars, but this is abuse! I moved on and I am glad to have done so. Free yourself and show the CG/EA/Disney idiots that you aren't their puppets!
I found this game in November and it feels like no one told them new players are getting this game still. I don't have a single relic character yet so I guess it's gonna be years before I even think about being upset. They're so hyper focused on the top players that have been around forever and trying to limit them that it essentially stomps us newbies completely out.... frustrating
ngl, you are the only reason why i keep up with this game, your content is some of the best on youtube period. If these changes happen to mess up this game, i still believe that the content you produce here will be exceptional.
Yeah, I’ve been farming teams for GAS and all them. Since watching this Video, I’m going to start farming for a GL starting tonight. Everything else be damned. I’m closer to getting SEE so I’ll be getting him first.
The only GL who I would farm is Lord Vader, but it requires General Skywalker who needs Ahsoka (I don't like Ahsoka so I never geared her) then the Bad Batch guys (same, I didn't gear them because I 'm not really interested to get them) So if I want LV I almost have to start from the beginning.
As someone who only has JMLS and uses gas, jkl and wat, I feel like I've been bent over and done dirty. There is no chance my jmls is gonna do enough damage to beat the other GLs now
Haven’t seen anyone say this, but I’m guessing these problems came up when testing the new lord Vader kit and they wanted to change these so that they could release the kit they wanted to for the new GL.

So here’s my question; I’m close to getting my first galactic legend (SLKR) and so I’ve been facing more opponents who have GLs on defence. So with what CG has told us, do I just lose now? I was dependant on my counters to GLs to help me out but now as they have neutered them I have nothing. I at-least wanted to lose after a fight
Not even just F2P. GL aren't something you get for spending $30 bucks... That's $3K. Even big spenders are suffering from this. It's the whales that are profiting but everyone who isn't spending thousands is losing.

When I was looking at the road ahead I didn’t think the gl stuff affected me because I don’t see them in arena or gac but forgot about conquest. I can get the 2nd best crate on conquest normal but now With the gl changes prolly not.
They better make gearing for free to play easier! Takes me ages just to get characters to gear 12 and gear 13! Same with relics, the drops for the cantina relic pieces are so bad! Now relic 9 will be coming, I can barely get to relic 7. Got to love being free to play. Going to take me forever to get Maul and Ahsoka from conquest
@Thanos 7656 if you just got him the nerf will not affect you since you won’t be fighting GLs and mostly keeping him in a 501 line up so you only experience the buffs

Funny, how they are selling GLs as „mini- raid-bosses“ by nerfing things like fracture, but then, vader has increased bonus damage against raid bosses, but not GLs? Surely they must be making enough money at the moment with kenobi. Why become extra greedy now?
Yep that's all that's happening here. CG might as well come out and explicitly state "you can't play this game anymore unless you get a GL(s). So give us your money or spend 12+ months farming and losing every single GAC round and Territory War where the opponents have more GLs (which happens far, far more often than it ever should because their matchmaking is absolute trash)." This breaks the meta. This breaks f2p. This flat out breaks the game.

@@disenfage113 The moment they created content that F2P players couldn't do (Challange Rancor) the game died. Its corpse is now slowly rotting and withering away. I was a beta tester for this game and fell in love with it all those years ago. Now I hope they crash and burn. That or they stop screwing over half the majority of the player base (F2P). And yeah they are so focused on keeping the whales happy. Little do they realize whales are going to keep spending money no matter what they do. If they chilled the hell out with these stupid updates and catered to the free folk (while still keeping purchasable packs such as gear and shards) they would probably create more whales and thus bringing in more money. I hate EA they suck at everything they do. They start strong but in the end every game they work on gets its bare nuts drug through a field of broken glass that was set on fire.
A big problem(or at least one of them) i have with two rock-paper-scissors in even something like squad arena, is that it massively wrecks f2p options for getting crystals. Say you are working on farming for a GL, and count on just breaking through top 100 in arena. Not gonna be possible if top 100 is packed with GLs. Been playing this game for ages, and this has been been one of the biggest slaps in the face I've seen. And I have played through quite a few lol.
Well… now my sith eternal grind has just become a necessity rather than a goal. I think there may still be some non GL counters to GL’s… its just gonna be a lot more difficult
There MIGHT be some after this update, but I can guarantee they will just do another update to eliminate whatever new ones might show up. There is no reason to think that something of this magnitude is something they will just forget about after 1 update.

If tomorrow you said to all the whales..ok we are going take you all and put all of on your own shard..all of you will be fight for not just the top ~10 spots in arena but now the top 10000 with all the other whales and from now on in GAC you will only fight other whales at your same spending category..I guarantee you most would quit in no time...whales pay to better than others..they aren’t paying for the polygons...

This separation of GLs from the pack is going to screw people in GAC and make it less interesting. Finding crazy counters is one of the best parts of the game. Quite upset to see them do this.
Im complete f2p and have 3 gls, but that caus ive played (grinded hard) the game since day 1.
But i still need these other non GL-counters i need when facing players with 4-5 gls in my GAC matchup so this sucks

This new changes basically turn this game into 2 separate games. There’s the GL/Whale game and the everyone else game. It’s such a satisfying feeling to defeat a GL with a non-GL team and they’re destroying that fun factor entirely. This is going to turn away a lot of people from this game if they go through with these changes
Multiple people have said this and I finally decided to add a comment. Yes I 100% agree. Now making it so that you must have a GL to beat a GL makes the game much less fun and interesting.

@@Dave-mf6tj If that Ford is upgraded and tuned like crazy it is faster (and still cheaper). I have a massive GL advantage with my SLKR in GAC. Encountered almost no other GLs so far. It would be boring I can be certain to win everytime. It takes from the satisfying feeling for both attacker and defender teams imho. Almost got Luke as well, after that it would be extremely boring, just blocking both ways and winning some easy battles with GAS, Malak,...

And you say we are both given 5000 dollars, right? Well, unfortunately no one is given any money to spend in this game. It's whatever you decide to spend or not to spend. And many people cannot afford, or simply choose not, to spend. If someone simply took a different farming path than me and went for a GL before I did (both not whaling in this case), I can accept that. But if I, someone who chooses not to spend any money, were to get paired up against someone who had whaled on a GL or 2, that's not fair matchmaking. I'm not very well versed in how Swgoh matchmaking works, but if it's not already based off of similar rosters as well as GP rather than GP alone, then they should do some adjusting to that to make it more balanced. Everyone should have an equal chance at beating each other. Before these changes that could be the case even if someone had a GL advantage where it might not be the case after. That's all I'm saying.

To be fair I’m no whale or top tier meta player but they’ve seemed very user friendly the last few months to even a year. This is super reminiscent of the period right after Carrie left where they just pulled gates out of their ass for no good reason other than to basically piss people off really in the name of “progression” or whatever.
TLDR: it seemed like they were on the right path to building a good relationship with the player base again, and then ruined it for revenue…which is not out of character but hasn’t seemed to be their sole focus in some time

I've been playing for about 2 months and have been enjoying getting into the game. I've found a guild who has been supportive in helping out a noob and is fun to hang out with. I believe in supporting companies who make products I enjoy, and have spent some money on packs in the shop that seemed worthwhile. However, I despise how outright abusive many companies are, especially in the mobile space, with their microtransaction prices. You'd have thought EA would remember the uproar around how poorly the SWTOR F2P conversion was initially received, but I guess that's all in distant memory now and all that matters is the greed of the bean counters. If they're telling me that I'm never going to compete in the endgame without dropping hundreds (realistically thousands) of dollars, what incentive do I have to keep playing? I'll go get my Star Wars gaming fix from Fallen Order ($60 complete package), Squadrons ($40 complete package!!!), or even back to SWTOR where a $15/month subscription is infinitely more palleatable than this garbage.

Getting so sick of farming towards GL characters while investing GAS, Sith Empire, Resistance and other squads so I can take a balanced approach towards all game modes, just to have CG pull this crap. Seriously, what is the point of this game anymore?

I stopped playing about 4 months ago and havent looked back. I keep up with the admiral however and watch these news videos from time to time. The gear grind is just so absurd. Realising how long its going to take me to get 1 let alone 2 of the many(6 now including lord vadar?) GLs just turned me off

I’m basically there but I still get on every few weeks or so, mainly as a sunk cost thing I guess in terms of time investment. As someone with >5M GP I’ve still yet to complete even normal conquest just because I have other things I want to spend my time on. But I 100% agree I still watch ahnald’s streams and can follow along, if nothing else other than for background noise or just to be plugged into the community. I don’t care about the game at all anymore but don’t feel any animosity towards it either

this is probably a pretty small thing but if gas’ changes also apply to his event i kinda feel like you need full relics on the team to beat his final tier since he only needs to have 5 turns taken instead of 10 and you have to burn through even more protection

I disagree, this has been said multiple times in the past and it’s never been fulfilled. I don’t agree with the changes at all but your statement is also pretty extreme. I feel if anything the hardcore players will log on less and the casual players might just lose interest altogether but whales will be whales and CG will get their revenue. As much as I love watching ahnald it’s no secret that as long as he’s drawing attention to the game there will always be an audience to be attracted to it and therefore spend (hopefully within their means but spend nonetheless)

I found this game in November and it feels like no one told them new players are getting this game still. I don't have a single relic character yet so I guess it's gonna be years before I even think about being upset. They're so hyper focused on the top players that have been around forever and trying to limit them that it essentially stomps us newbies completely out.... frustrating

Yeah, I’ve been farming teams for GAS and all them. Since watching this Video, I’m going to start farming for a GL starting tonight. Everything else be damned. I’m closer to getting SEE so I’ll be getting him first.
The only GL who I would farm is Lord Vader, but it requires General Skywalker who needs Ahsoka (I don't like Ahsoka so I never geared her) then the Bad Batch guys (same, I didn't gear them because I 'm not really interested to get them)
So if I want LV I almost have to start from the beginning.

Haven’t seen anyone say this, but I’m guessing these problems came up when testing the new lord Vader kit and they wanted to change these so that they could release the kit they wanted to for the new GL.

So here’s my question; I’m close to getting my first galactic legend (SLKR) and so I’ve been facing more opponents who have GLs on defence. So with what CG has told us, do I just lose now? I was dependant on my counters to GLs to help me out but now as they have neutered them I have nothing. I at-least wanted to lose after a fight

When I was looking at the road ahead I didn’t think the gl stuff affected me because I don’t see them in arena or gac but forgot about conquest. I can get the 2nd best crate on conquest normal but now With the gl changes prolly not.

@@disenfage113 The moment they created content that F2P players couldn't do (Challange Rancor) the game died. Its corpse is now slowly rotting and withering away. I was a beta tester for this game and fell in love with it all those years ago. Now I hope they crash and burn. That or they stop screwing over half the majority of the player base (F2P). And yeah they are so focused on keeping the whales happy. Little do they realize whales are going to keep spending money no matter what they do. If they chilled the hell out with these stupid updates and catered to the free folk (while still keeping purchasable packs such as gear and shards) they would probably create more whales and thus bringing in more money. I hate EA they suck at everything they do. They start strong but in the end every game they work on gets its bare nuts drug through a field of broken glass that was set on fire.
A big problem(or at least one of them) i have with two rock-paper-scissors in even something like squad arena, is that it massively wrecks f2p options for getting crystals. Say you are working on farming for a GL, and count on just breaking through top 100 in arena. Not gonna be possible if top 100 is packed with GLs. Been playing this game for ages, and this has been been one of the biggest slaps in the face I've seen. And I have played through quite a few lol.

There MIGHT be some after this update, but I can guarantee they will just do another update to eliminate whatever new ones might show up. There is no reason to think that something of this magnitude is something they will just forget about after 1 update.
