Reason to not use it at night: it is polarizer, you get 0.5-1 stop of light cut. You should only use a mist filter. Reason to not use it at daytime: it is 1/4 or 1/2 strength. For any focal length more than 50mm, it might be too much for some condition (looks dirty) like backlit. And it is unrevertable. So until polar pro come up with a 1/8 version. You should just combine black mist + polarizer filter.
Yeah you have a few good points there. However it is still a stylistic choice if people what to try it out. Plus, dont you get a strong vignette if you stack a polarizer and mist filter? That was the entire reason for the creation of these filters I do believe.
@@Chris_Palmer vintage depends on focal length. I would be surprised if got vintage from a 35mm lens by stacking (normal quality) filters. I stack tiffen mist filter + urth polarizer filter. Never encounter that issue. BTW, Shortstache doesn't shot wide angle lens often. So stacking filter is completely fine for anyone want to "MIMIC" his style.
I don’t think Moment has a polarizer and black mist filter that are combined. This one combines both the black mist and the polarizer so you do not get any vignetting. I believe moment sells a polarizer and a mist filter that you could stack.
@@Chris_Palmer I see, thanks for the info. I just got my shortstache today, do ppl stack a UV filter on top of shortstache for protection or is there no need?
@ oh I do! Well I put the UV filter on first so it’s always on the lens and then put the shortstashe filter on top of that. Oh I am excited you! What are you shooting?
@@Chris_Palmer great TIP! I just got my adapter filter from Fuji, and I need to buy a UV filter. I shot some photos last night was little dark but looked awesome. right now I am in downtown Boston shooting some classic low riders!
@@KelvynGoveo Oh that sounds so fun! I shoot with my filter all the time once you get a handle on it, its a go to filter for sure. It perfect for shooting cars
For the Filters the price is as follows: The EVERYDAY is $89.99 USD / $124.68 CAD The MIST-PL is $89.99 USD / $124.68 CAD COMBINED is $159.99 USD / $221.67 CAD I am sure this changes depending on where you are located and currency
