Yes Metheny had a toothbrush he used to fix the tail bridge of his old ES175 every night on tour... One of the main reason he accepted Ibanez' offer was to build much more robust instruments, which they ABSOLUTELY are!
Metheny posted a pic on his FB this past month, with his Gibson. You can still see the toothbrush! He kept it!!! This guy is just...

How do you think this compares to the Yamaha ASOS 2000 another Japanese guitar using another strain of maple from somewhere calling it Sycamore but actually the particular Sycamore they’re using is a maple strain and again 335 construction however a poly finish similar to this one, but in the same price range out of the box Just curious to know your thoughts thanks guys love all your videos don’t comment too often because you have so many comments that I’m kind of thinking you might get a little overwhelmed, but I try to never miss a video truly and have purchased a lot of equipment here in the US and have only been to your store once, but did not get the opportunity to only meet Rob You guys weren’t around that day but I’ll be back in February and look forward to seeing you then by the way, what is the fretboard radius it does not appear to be written anywhere, unless I’m just missing it 13:55 14:00 14:12

Is the AM2000H (maybe the other as well) wired in 50's wiring. And would that mean there is a "Kill" feature when toggling to the center position, it will "Kill" the pickup you switched off of if you had the other volume set to zero? I didn't hear if you mentioned if this was 50s wiring and if there was a "Kill" feature. I'm not familar with 50s wiring at all, but was told that there is the potential to "Kill" a pickup when switching the toggle to the center position if one other pickup was set to zero. Ideas?

Thanks for the demo on all three. It's a shame here in the U.S. we can't demo these guitars in person. Guitar Center carries them online, but doesn't stock them in stores. In other words you have to buy it to even get your hands on one and play it. Quite a bummer.

The guitars in the Artstar line are really special. I own the AS153 which is basically like an AS200 (now the AS2000?), just a little more affordable, and let me tell you, that tritone switch is awesome. I was smiling when they were trying to describe the difference in sound. It is subtle, but the more you hear it and play the guitar, the more you notice it, especially the feel of it.
If anyone is worried about the neck being slim, don't be, they are very fat and wide, but not uncomfortable. So don't be put of by the neck being a bit fat/chunky either. Not normally something I would love this much, not at all, but what can I say, I love using mine, when I want to force myself, to play differently than I'm used to. The neck on my AS153 would however be a little fatter/chunkier than the AS200 and/or AS2000 is. Neck profile is one of the few differences between the different models in the range/line, apart from where they are built of course.
And let me tell you about the tone, it is amazing, especially with the tritone set in the singlecoil position for rythm or clean/crunchy, and then kick in either the parallel or series position for lead or a little gainier tone. Or just flick the pickup selector and get middle (coil split/parallel/series) or bridge position, just lovely. Honestly, I don't know, if I love the feel of it more, or if it's the tone that pulls me in. Just amazing guitars in the entire range/line.
The neck takes a little getting used to, but once I did, I just loved it. Nothing like feeling stuck in a box or a rut, and then picking up my AS153, and just not doing anything the way I would on my Strat or my Les Paul, or any other guitar really. And just to be clear, my AS153 is the more affordable version of the AS200 (now the AS2000?), but I have played a few of them, and they are all amazing. And of course the more you pay, the more you get.
And to compare it to a Gibson, would be unfair to Gibson, to me however, there is no contest, this smokes any Gibson. But to be fair, a Gibson feels entirely different, great but different, but that's kind of what I love about my Ibanez. It is nothing like a Gibson, although inspired by, but I guess just a bit more. Ibanez is known for doing super "strats", I would say this is like a super Gibson ES guitar, to kind of give you an idea about the difference, but still not really.

AS153 is made in Indonesia. Great guitar, but its direct/comparative equivalent is the AS113 which superseded it in 2022. Pickguard cosmetic notwithstanding, pretty much the only difference between the two are the top wood. 153 has Flamed Maple. 113 has Spruce. Same hardware. Same fret treatment. Same build quality. Same price point a modest price rise for the new model release notwithstanding.

Sorry but the larger bodied Ibanez ES-335 sounds so much better than the smaller version. Same goes for Gibson's 335 compared to its 339. I have them all so I know.

Gibson's equivalent of the last one? 2013 ES 390, except that one's got minihumbuckers ('14-'15 390s have P90s). But, Gibson borrowed the original idea from Ibanez's 1974 Model 1912 (came w/P90s).

i wonder if the euros play the ibenez shredders and schechters cause the gibsons are taxed too high? the 335 clone comes with the jack in the side and the front? why. why not just put it out the side. seems obvious to a guy to bumps and rips stuff off anything in the way of any of my moving parts

Ibanez es-335 style guitars have the most beautiful horns. A bit more pointy, but classy.
