  • Quick video talking about the advantages and disadvantages of a Quick Change vs. a standard differential. I also cover some differences between Bulldog and Winters, so you buy right one!
PS - I also found Wout's video (AKA ‪@DriftJesus‬ ) and he does a better job explaining the myth's: • Mythbusting Quick Chan...

Rich-thanks for including us in your comparison. We appreciate you running our rears over the years, and we also appreciate you being fair regarding the casting issue we experienced. We did indeed have a foundry let us down, but have since shifted to a different foundry-and actually a different, more advanced casting process-that is giving us significantly stronger castings. The new rears will be released in the coming weeks. There are however a few things you stated that are incorrect:
    • Winters output flanges are FORGED 4340 aluminum, not CAST aluminum as you stated. Forgings, as I'm sure you know, are stronger than cast or machined billet (and I don't think anyone would make a cast output flange).
    • Also, the 930-style 35-spline flanges you've shown are not the beefiest flanges we offer-we also make forged 934-style 35-spline flanges.
    • Magnesium castings are NOT stronger than aluminum.
ASTM values for sand cast A356-T6 aluminum are:
    34,000 tensile
    24,000 yield
    3.5% elongation
Whereas ASTM AZ91E-T6 sand cast magnesium
    34,000 tensile
    16,000 yield
    3% elongation
For reference, our new Permanent Mold A356-T6 centers were tested by an independent lab and the results are:
    38,400 tensile
    32,400 yield
    5% elongation
(We've posted a video explaining the permanent mold process to our channel, if you're interested in checking it out.)
    • We offer several breathers with larger diameter tubing than the one shown on your rear.
    • And not to split hairs, but DMI has been in business for 32 years, not 50. We're entering our 66th year in the racing industry and have been serving the drift community for over 20.
There are other differentiating factors that come into play if you're looking to do a true comparison, like the ring gear material strength (Winters uses forged and ground 9310) and lower shaft material strength (ours are 350M Vascomax, not 300M). But we understand you can't cover every detail. We just wanted to make sure the ones you do cover are factually correct.
Again, we appreciate you including us in your video. Thanks Rich!

Nice info Rich. We have a dozen Billet CNC cases out there right now since 1/23' and as problems for strength as we have a 4340 cased unit on a well known class car that puts out @ 2400hp.
Quick changes are a definate must to stay at the upper level of the pack... not always, lol, but usually. We have a 2 spd. rear with only 6 weeks on it right now... it's the first prototype, but not in the books that govern. Appreciate your content that I just got sent, so keep it up!
    Respectfully, Seth

Rich Whiteman 369 Brother, Awesome Review! I Love how you broke down the bad and good! Outstanding video! Can you mount brakes calipers on the sides of diff? Can they make a Front Quick change independent for AWD Also? Best Regards!

Relocate the stock tank or run a fuel cell and then just modify the subframe. Ask me how I know
