Garbis Zobian Halevi La Juive

Description: Garbis Zobian was born on 05-24 1915 in Kasteman (Turky) in Armenian family and by a miracle escaped from Armenian genocide. Graduated from Bucharest conservatory (1948). His first debut was in 1948 at Timishoara opera house. In 1949 he was the soloist of Bucarest Opera house. In 1968 went to USA. He was well known in eastern Europe, USSR included Armenia. He was one of the rare singers who deserves the title of heroic tenor.

In a performance given in the Philharmonic Concert Hall of Yerevan , Zobian began with operatic arias and songs of Western European composers, and finished with the works of Armenian composers, demonstrating the capabilities and flexibility of his voice. Just as Niagara Falls in approaching the precipice, spreads out and tumbles down, displaying its beauty and might, so to does the "panorama" of the Zobian phenomenon open up before the listeners,
